Rants & Raves

  • Follow Metro

I HAVE HEARD nothing from the Georgia side of the river about the Augusta GreenJackets being moved to North Augusta. Doesn’t anyone in Georgia want to keep them? Nobody seems to care if they move or not. They are ours.

RAVE TO OUR editorial cartoonist Rick McKee. What fine material comes out on a daily basis. As long as we have the national leaders we
have in Washington, he will have material forever. Thank you, Mr. McKee.

EVERY TIME YOU turn around, President Obama is talking about the middle class. He never says anything about the poor. It’s like he is ashamed of the poor.

IT’S DESPICABLE THAT the Democrats will hold the entire nation hostage unless “Obamacare” is completely accepted. It was rammed down the throats of the American people when the Republicans were not allowed to vote on it. It was done on a back-door deal by Democrats only. To those people who think Obamacare is what this nation wanted, half of this nation was not represented when it was brought to a vote.

I WAS SURPRISED to see there is a labor shortage in the building industry, with statistics showing that 73 percent of the population is on food stamps and welfare. I think some people should look for jobs rather than be on welfare. We need to cut the welfare system out.

RANT TO THE person who ran into my brand-new car, which I had had for only two days, in the University Hospital parking lot. Thanks a lot.

A HUGE RAVE to Le Chat Noir for presenting a superior production of Les Misérables. This little theater has the talent and creativity to “bring it home.”

A RANT FOR THE Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, which allows officers living outside the county to drive patrol cars home. The intent of this privilege was to allow the cars to be seen in neighborhoods in the county to improve community protection, and to give the officers incentive to live in the county in which they work.

WE HAVE HAD speeding cars going up to 70 mph in a 25-mile zone since they paved Parham Road in Grovetown. Traffic was detoured to Parham Road to Gordon Highway while repairs were done on the railroad at Katherine Street and Robertson Avenue. Now, more people are using our road to Gordon Highway. They are speeding, and something needs to be done before someone gets killed.

The DC Mother that crashed the White House

After looking at her background.... nothing seems to make sense?

Lawyers, parents, her boss just about everyone had nothing but good to great things to says about.

All we have is "anonymous" sources, and un-named law Enforcement saying she had issues.

Overall, I chalk this up to one of those Washington DC things that we'll never really be sure we have the full story.

Nothing more can be said, the truth and accurate facts.

Anybody that's wants and support this American Destructive action are the ones that you very clearly mentioned and I really don't give a bloody hoot for any of them. They are the enemies of this once great nation.

Awesome teacher!

But a more awesome human being! This man is who kids should emulate, not some illiterate athlete or self absorbed actor; and certainly not some shade eyed thuggie chanting into a microphone.

or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bSu_Snlbsw for those not FB oriented.

Wouldn't the world be a much better place if we had a lot more of him and a lot fewer of the aforementioned?

If anyone has signed up they won't know true costs till after Jan 1. Anyone who inputs their info on that site and doesn't purchase a plan will be investigated by the enforcement arm of Obamacare, which just happens to the the IRS SS. Now, I ask you, would you go on there and put all your info in, even though you may already be covered at your place of employment? I wasn't born last night!! Oh, and beware of the Democrat scammers that have spun up from Obamacare!!

Facts

The Sam's Club in West Augusta underwent an multi-million renovation in 2009/2010.. The Sam's Club in Aiken is now open for business.

People have to remember Costco has ZERO locations in the state of Georgia outside of metro Atlanta. Columbia, SC is larger compared to Augusta, but they don't even have Costco.

Costco doesn't need to rely on local shopping compared to Sam's..

Seenitb4. The 'opportunity zone' has been used all over Georgia including Sandy Springs in North Fulton which is one of the richest cities in the US. The recent opportunity zone is planned for the urban core, and nowhere close to Martinez.

The Bass Pro decision has absolutely nothing to do with the redevelopment plan. Cabela's, Micheal Kors, Texas Roadhouse, movie theater, etc are still moving forward.

Something is bothering me

I heard Dr Ben Carson say that the IRS has investigated him 3 years in a row.....after he had been public with his views on politics.....also Bill OReilly said they had checked him like that too & he finally told them he would see them in court if it happened again....soo ..these men had done nothing wrong on their forms...didn't owe any tax but were constantly investigated...to me THAT is a huge problem & we need to be upset about this.

Conclusion

Arguing with someone who is a proponent of the Affordable Care Act makes about as much sense as arguing with a yo-yo. But, at least you can play with the yo-yo!!!!!!

2nd airport proposed

Commercial jet service could bring big business to small Paulding county..yea ..I hope they get it..

They are on the verge of cracking a monopoly in metro Atla....they want a rival airline outside of Hartsfield...the bid failed in Gwinnett county for many reasons BUT this county might be able to pull it off.

Big article in AJC.

Facts

I misspoke earlier, because I always forget about the Costco in North Georgia. It's only located on the Georgia side(Chattanooga suburbs), because of TN Sunday alcohol sales. The point still remains that over 4 million people live outside of metro Atlanta, and there's only two Costco locations..

Seenitb4.. The opportunity zone and slum is the same thing. Who exactly didn't call it a 'opportunity zone' or 'slum'? In order to create the opportunity zone the area must be called a 'slum'..

The leaders of Columbia County didn't want to use the term 'slum' in the public, but it's still one due to the opportunity zone.

The leaders of Sandy Springs didn't try to create the 'opportunity zone', and leave the word 'slum' from reaching the public.

''It was the day after the Sandy Springs City Council declared the area to be a slum. The city's argument: the designation was needed in order to spur redevelopment in the south Roswell Road area. To residents, it also meant they are now stigmatized as the dilapidated area of a city that was named the ninth-most affluent in the nation.''

''Officials said creating the redevelopment borders required them to call the area between Mount Vernon Highway Highway and Long Island Drive blighted and a slum.''

Every Message Board

Has there ever been any kind of message board where one commenter wasn't totally obnoxious? I'm not mentioning any names, but there's always one and we aren't exempt here. There is some psychology at work where the need to be on the short end is obvious. You have to love the "village commenter" as I call them and just smile at times.
