Rants & Raves

THE POTENTIAL FEDERAL shutdown and President Obama’s warning of “economic chaos” highlight both parties’ standard action concerning establishing the federal budget. Since the start of the fiscal year was changed, Congress and our leaders have relied on this tactic. Their continued reluctance to find common ground for the betterment of this country had resulted in closure of federal offices, loss of jobs, higher taxes and a damaged economy.

RANT FOR ALL you parents at Martinez Elementary School; you are turning left, and it says no left turn. You are an accident waiting to happen. Please try to protect our children.

BIG RAVE TO the staff of the North Augusta Recreation Department, the North Augusta Police and the nurse on duty at 11 a.m. Sept. 10. My wife had a seizure while working out, and they did everything in a very professional way. They make North Augusta a great place to be.

DOES ONE LOSE all common sense by joining the Democrat Party, or does one join the Democrat Party because he has no common sense to start with?

SUPER RAVES FOR Brian Crane, the writer/illustrator for the comic strip Pickles. This is, without a doubt, the funniest strip I have ever followed. Hats off to this man who keeps us laughing at the beginning of each day.

WHO CARES WHICH federal bozo started giving out free phones and other goodies? The point is, this present administration could stop this abysmal practice, which just enables moochers to continue their mooching ways, but they don’t. It’s funny how this administration has no trouble doing away with previous administration rules and regulations, but this particular one they won’t touch with a 40-foot handle. All to get more votes in 2016. Sickening.

SENTINEL OFFENDER Services was found guilty by our courts. Hurray for Jack Long, attorney, for taking them on in our legal system. Sentinel took advantage of those trying to rise above their legal problems, which is like putting a foot on someone’s back when they are already down, and yet Richmond County renewed their contract. Something is really wrong with this picture.

ALL THE AMERICAN people do is watch baseball and football. They haven’t got their heads screwed on. We need to get rid of what’s in Washington, D.C.

A Spider poem for T3

A BIG black spider lived in a hole;
A terrible spider was he:
As big as your hand, and with hairy legs,
And a mouth as red as could be.

The beetles and flies at the sight of him fled,
And even the birds were afraid.
He had two great nippers, and eight wicked eyes;
How he ran ! and what leaps he made
I and all who lived in the garden knew
That terrible spider's lair,
And told their little ones, under their breath:
' 0 never, 0 never go there! '

Those who were naughty and disobeyed,
By their mothers would not have been known,
For the spider had sucked their juicy parts—
Sucked them as dry as a bone.

One day when he crept quite out of his hole,
To pounce on a passer-by,
Buzz, buzz, came a wasp: the spider's afraid—A spider afraid of a fly!

His poisoned nippers he opened wide,
And reared himself up to fight;
Round, round, and round, flew the wasp, then— down!
And stung him before he could bite.

He crumpled up, and was carried away,
And buried alive, to feed
The baby-wasps that were soon to be born.

A friend sent me an email with a picture of a big yellow sign over the entrance of an exhibition hall where a gun show was being held.

The sign read, "IF YOU VOTED FOR OBAMA, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BUY A GUN HERE BECAUSE YOU ARE TOO STUPID TO OWN A WEAPON!"

Just how much is too much? I

Just how much is too much? I am paraphrasing here but doesn't the Constitution say "the right to bear arms SHALL NOT be infringed"? So, either you agree with the Constitution or you aren't much of an American. We will just forget the discussions had by our founding fathers about the government being the only ones with weapons. I am sure you can find the references yourself.

And it is more apparent every day why they had those discussions.

Rant to WJBF for trying to hijack higher prices from Dish Network. I hope your sponsors think twice before buying air time.

Aren't most TVs set-up so

Aren't most TVs set-up so that you can also draw local over the air TV stations? So wouldn't that mean most people in the area could get WJBF over the air even if they were taken off of Dish, cable or what have you?

TV

RM is correct again. It will require an antenna. But yes, you can receive it over the air. If you don't have a digital tv you can buy a digital converter. Thats what I used for a couple of years, no cable.

Strange

I went to the healthcare.gov site to see what the free insurance would cost me. I had a question about the medical device tax since I have a medical device. Guess what? Nobody is available to answer my question at this time. Sure glad the Emperor had everything up and running today like he promised.

Health Care/Shutdown

Where does the buck start and stop? With the President of the United States of America! He needs to take parenting classes. Name calling makes things worse! He never read the Health Care Law! Too many pages and if he won't buy it why should the YOUNG and HEALTHY spend their hard earned money to buy the worst health insurance. These companies do not offer GOOD & AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE.
Don't just listen and read - but put your brain to the search and learn the TRUTH - it will OPEN your EYES!!! I don't just listen to FOXNEWS, CNN, ABC, but I research to get to the TRUTH. The companies listed in the exchanges are just putting together junk packages - study and compare at different web sites PLEASE remember that many people were elected to serve us AMERICANS. The shutdown belongs to the one at the TOP.

I am often amazed at the wisdom and foresight exhibited by these fellows when writing and signing the U.S. Constitution. The depth of their thinking and their ability to put it in writing was almost unimaginable when considering how laws are developed and written these days.

THAT'S REALLY not fair. Most of the news media, including The AC, warned that there would be early glitches. GIVE IT A CHANCE, which you may-as-well, "It's the law!!"

Reality not bias

Nocnoc... I wish the Gateway and exhibition hall both good luck, but you continue to hype up the surrounding counties all the time. The odd part is how you only focus on the negative in Richmond County though. I don't know why you guys let the people from the surrounding counties influence you with their bias against Richmond County. A few residents have become some accustom to the daily negativity, and they begin to even believe it.

Why haven't you asked the reasoning behind Carrie Underwood, WWE Smackdown, Ringling Bros, Cirque Du Soleil, Guitar Pull, etc choosing the James Brown Arena?

Why did the Technet, Mary Kay, etc come to the TEE Center?

Why is the Marriott at the Convent Center one of the best places for meetings in the entire south?

Let's deal in reality, and keep the biases on the sideline. What county would the average person in the US want to spend more time between Richmond, Aiken, & Columbia while visiting?

I know you guys love to bash Richmond County, and tell us how great the other places are. Well the corporate at Whole Foods, Cabela's, the new movie theater, Texas Roadhouse, etc is coming to Richmond County, and they obviously didn't believe those comments. Based on the amount of tourism in each county the average person visiting the CSRA/metro doesn't believe so either.

I couldn't find the expenditures for Aiken County, but you can't spin the separation between Richmond/Columbia.

Richmond $380 million
Columbia $114 million

Anybody Been To a Gun Show?

The Southeastern Gun Show is going to be held in the new Columbia County Exhibition Center that just opened Oct 12-13. Can the public buy a gun on the spot? I've never been to one of these. How do they handle the background check and so on? Is it a good place to buy a used gun?
