The little white dogs are all excited at my house. They got a note last week that the annual Blessing of the Animals will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Holy Comforter on Furys Ferry Road.

You see, the older dog went by himself last year and got both a blessing and an official scarf to wear, and for the past 12 months he’s been talking about it with his younger protege. I guess we’ll be taking the littler white dog next.

You can’t argue with Episcopalians.

YOUR MAIL: And speaking of four-legged fans, I got a nice postcard from Ecuador and “Maggie” Bowen.

LOST KEYS: Page Knight asking your help. She writes:

“Friday evening, my husband and I picked up our boat from Washington Road Self Storage at 3700 Washington Road at approximately 6:30 p.m. Leaving there, we turned right on Washington Road, then left on Furys Ferry toward the lake. When we arrived at our campsite, we realized that we (ahem, he!) had left a set of keys on the back bumper of our Suburban, and they, of course, were
no longer there. We have back-tracked, walked Washington Road three times and made numerous phone calls ... to no avail. The set of keys include a Saab car key and about 5 other keys of which we can identify. We offer a reward if these keys are found and returned to us.”

If anyone finds them, give me a call, and I’ll call Page.

DANCE PARTY: Proceeds raised at a dance party this Thursday will assist in purchases for the Augusta Rescue Mission.

The dance party will start at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 505, 1678 15th St. Participants are told to “dress to impress.”

The $10 ticket charge will assist in the purchase of bed linens, towels and washcloths for the rescue mission to help homeless veterans.

TODAY’S JOKE: Everett Fernandez passes this one along:

A mature couple, both born the same year and month, were celebrating their 60th birthdays. During the celebration, a fairy appeared and said that because they had been so loving she would grant them each one wish.

Very excited, the wife said that because she had already visited most of North America in her RV she would like to visit Europe.

The fairy waved her magic wand; airline tickets instantly appeared in her hand.

Then it was the husband’s turn. He paused for a moment, then said with a sly look, “Well, I’d like to have a woman 30 years younger than me.” The fairy waved her wand, and presto, he was 90.
