Rants & Raves

  • Follow Metro

A GIANT RAVE FOR the Richmond County landfill. I am doing a large home improvement project and have had to make several trips to the landfill. The entrance is well-maintained, the staff courteous and the areas where waste is disposed of are clean and the people working there are courteous and helpful.

THIS IS A RANT for the new garbage pickup. It’s Wednesday, and there my garbage cans are filled with maggots, roaches and flies. Even though I make sure all of the trash is tied up in plastic bags and continually spray the cans with insect repellent, the once-a-week pickup is horrible. This certainly does not make our environment cleaner, smarter and greener. I’m wondering if others are having these problems?

TO THE FAMILY who is looking for a full-time housekeeper: They don’t make those anymore. I am a professional housekeeper, but we are no slaves anymore in Augusta. You might have to do your work yourself.

DON’T WORRY ABOUT labeling downtown a slum. It has been a slum for the past 50 years.

THE TEXAS GUARD is refusing to process same-sex benefits. Good for Texas!

A SINCERE THANK you and very big rave to the westbound truck that flashed its lights to me and all eastbound traffic on Bobby Jones to let us know the police were hiding in the bushes waiting to give tickets.

I AM A SENIOR citizen from Richmond County who is very disgusted with the trash service being put on our taxes. I feel strongly that we should have had a vote on whether we wanted it on our taxes or not. If we could pay it monthly, it would be much easier for people on Social Security.

I WILL RAISE MY children to stand up for things they can change and to always run from what they are afraid of, especially if it has a gun and a badge and practices Nazi-type Gestapo authority. You raise your kids, I will raise mine.

U.S. REP. JOHN Barrow says, “You and your doctor know what’s best for you.” If he really believed that, he’d fight to end Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare and all government interference into people’s private business. Since he never tries to end these government power grabs, he prefers government meddling.

THE WEAPONS OF mass destruction argument didn’t work so well. It’s time for the Obama crew to bring out that tried and true line: “It’s for the children.”

Augusta has not been a SLUM for 50 years.

only 36 since the 1st Mall opened.

Or was it when Ed McIntyre was mayor and was notable for a U.S. federal conviction for extortion back in 1984?

But it wasn't a SLUM in 1963.

If you raise them to act like a suspect

then they will be treated like a suspect until they are determined NOT to be a suspect.

Running from a lawful order to halt is a criminal offense and NOT what real parents teach their kids.

UNLESS they want them to increase their chances of being hurt?

“It’s for the children.”

Every time the Feds use that line, go deep, go obscure.

Clinton & Reno used that line at Waco and they ended up
with a lot of dead children (21)

At close of Business today Home Depot

joined the the growing number of large companies dropping Health Insurance coverage for it part-time employees and transferring it to the TAXPAYERS under ObamaCare.

I am beginning to wonder if this is what ObamaCare is really about, to FREE UP F-1000 company $$$$$, transfer the costs to the Middle class taxpayers, while improving their Profitability.

Another "I Wish I Had A Son Like Him"

A Brooklyn man featured in a Time magazine cover story on immigration reform was arrested Wednesday on child pornography charges.

Roy Naim, 29, who bills himself as an immigration activist, allegedly downloaded at least three illicit videos featuring underage boys from the website of another sicko based in Louisiana who made the porn, a complaint filed in Brooklyn Federal Court says.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Saritha Komatireddy said the defendant was soliciting others to produce kiddie porn and was a risk to flee to Israel.

Naim emigrated from Israel at age 3 and is an undocumented alien. He has actively lobbied Congress on immigration issues, his lawyer said.

ONLY IN CALIFORNIA (for

ONLY IN CALIFORNIA (for now)

is it against the college policy to hand out copies of the US Constitution.

"Administrators and campus security told students at California’s Modesto Junior College that they could not hand out copies of the Constitution to fellow students on Constitution Day.

Coming soon to another liberal state campus.

Insult

Comparing our police to Nazi-type Gestapo is an unwarranted insult to the hard working men and women officers.

Run from authority?

Ranter #8 posted:

That is sad, sad, sad. Your children will be missing out on a life filled with responsibility and confidence.

This needs repeating KSL...

White House staffers have adopted a new and unflattering nickname for their boss: "Obam-me," Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan says she heard in chats with a few senators.

And how did the staffers come up with that name?

"Because it's all about him and his big thoughts," Noonan writes in a column. "I guess the second-term team is not quite as adoring as the first."

We really have to do something with our college material........where are the great minds---common sense---what are we THINKING!

Library

SeenIt, I just replied to your library comments on the other thread. I did remember something exciting about the old brick and mortar libraries. The National Geographic magazines with the photos of the nude natives. So maybe we could keep a stack of them somewhere.

Glad he/she isn't working at McDonalds. Just imagine how crowded the grill will be with everyone cooking their own burgers. For the serious point. If I pay you to do it you will either do it or seek employment elsewhere.

The Case of the Live-in Housekeeper

This live in housekeeper thing has everyone in a tizzy…even a twin tizzy. Hey, if she looked good enough I wouldn’t even make her do windows. But like RK says, if he pays her she does what he says. Heh, heh, heh.

Yahoo Opening Page and Prostate Health

For the life of me, I can't figure out those prostate health ads. I've mentioned this before where they show a food item of some kind as if it looks like a prostate or something. Today is a cucumber. I don't even want to think about it.
