The Canal Tow Path will be closed in early October while Georgia Power Co. replaces the power poles along the trail.

Pam Tucker, Columbia County Emergency and Operations Division Director, said the path will be closed from the Lock Keeper’s Cottage to the Water Pumping Station near Eisenhower Drive.

The path will close at 7 a.m. on Oct. 1 and is expected to reopen the following day at 5 p.m.

I haven't used this place since they cut of the traffic to the parking area. I'm not in shape but used to go down and walk a little - now it's been made unfriendly for those who aren't avid bicyclers or joggers.
