Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

SEVERAL CONCERNED residents have suggested diversity, performance and leadership training for Augusta Commission members. It won’t work. You cannot change a man’s character through those means.

A HUGE RANT to the overgrown bushes and low-hanging tree limbs on Wrightsboro Road opposite the Uptown VA from Freedom Way to Highland Avenue. We have blind veterans learning to get around walking up and down that road. Some of the stuff hanging over the sidewalk is such that one has to walk in traffic to get around it or face getting hit in the face and shoulders. Shame on the property owners and shame on the city for not fixing it.

RANTS TO ANYONE who thinks “Johnny Football” Manziel is, or ever was, Heisman material. He is a lunatic! He is like a 7-year-old playing with a bunch of older guys. His daddy should have spanked his rear end a few times instead of buying him a scholarship and eventually a Heisman trophy. Manziel is bad for college football.

TO THE PERSON who wrote about the freeloaders: Console yourself with the thought that the future for these freeloaders is a bleak one indeed, worse than any Third World scenario you might imagine. Fortunately, those of us who grew up in a generation where a work ethic was the standard and not the exception, where personal responsibility was a badge of honor and not a novelty, and where God held sway in our daily lives and was not an object of derision, will probably not be around to see the bitter, rancid fruits that these freeloaders will reap after their dismal sowing of constant discontent, whining and selfish demands of entitlement. The future is theirs and they are welcome to it.

AUGUSTA COMMISSION member Marion Williams said “When the money comes in, it goes in the same direction. Follow the money. It goes to one side of the city.” He is right. The city of Augusta is paying Hyde Park residents to move anywhere they choose. Also tenants of Cherry Tree Crossing can get free counseling and education services that will teach them how to move. Augusta has a $37.5 million project to redevelop Laney-Walker and Bethlehem. You are right, Marion, it all goes to the same side of the city.

A RANT TO drivers who switch lanes in intersections. That is not just illegal but also extremely dangerous.

Here we go again

This time in Washington DC, one of the forbidden gun zones of America. Where everybody is safe until they are held up or shot.

While I am sadden that 13+/- people lost their lives today because a fruit cake and/or a terrorist, who illegally gained access to a secured military base using some else's ID.

The media is already foaming at the mouth trying various angles to link and portray any possible harm or threat to Capital Hill
and the WH, which are over a 1.5 miles away.

While the facts are still being developed and filtered for political gains. You can rest assure we will hear another round of screaming GUN control advocates, the I'll protest anything nuts, and the politicians looking for a vote. All will be lined
up to demand smaller clips, tighter controls on ammo and bans on
certain weapons.

Peaceful Gun owners, like myself, will line up to defend our
rights and a lot people who never read the US constitution will
still blindly mis-quote sections and push and push for a ban.

But again the LEFT has a problem Aaron Alexis of Fort Worth does
not fit the stereotypical White bigoted Tea Party attending,
Far Right, gun toting Racists as we are often called.

You see the shooter is a Black-American.

At this time there is no word on his religious beliefs, or if he
had any at all.

He was recently an active duty naval person, so he has had security background checks and mental tests for suitability for duty and etc.

He was able to kill 13+ people because his victims were NOT ARMED and could not have a firearm to protect themselves on this secured military base.

So while we will not hear much about the failures that allowed this to happen on a secured military base. We will hear from a lot people that will put down private ownership and self protection while being protected by armed guards 24/7.

After 9/11, I often thought we were sitting ducks, traffic backed up over a mile waiting to access SRS thru the Jackson gate.
Could very easily have been the same scenario that played out in Langley, Virginia at the CIA Headquarters.

Enormous RANT to a Large Local South Side Cemetery.

We were visiting friends and family buried at your location.
Many of which are either Vietnam War Vets, Korea War Vets , WWII vets, Agent Orange causalities or youthful victims while growing up in Richmond Co.

We put flags around their headstones on the holidays and special days of remembrance. We often try to come back in a few days and removed the small cloth flags and properly store them.

Today the US Flags were gone.
But we did spot them as we were exiting area.
We found many of them about 20 yards away

Crammed UN-Ceremoniously into a trash can
near the big water fountain.

This is no way to handle or dispose of a US Flag, let along a flag used to honor a US Soliders or patriots grave.

Please contact a Boy Scout Troop, for a proper and honorable flag retirement process.

Your cemetery has 100's if not 1000's of VETs and this was a slap in the face for us today.

Not to be disrespectful,

but should not training for blind people to learn how to get around Augusta include low-hanging branches? It seems that would be part of the training.

I watched the game just so I

I watched the game just so I could see Johnny Manziel play. He IS entertaining on the field, but, no, I don't think he was worthy of the Heisman. Scrambling around and being LUCKY with his passes just means that his receivers have to be extraordinary! Manziel became a Heisman winner largely due to the media...they hyped him and pushed him. The media can "make" anybody and anything they want....just keep your eyes open in the future and you'll see what I'm talking about. All this stuff with the Redskins changing their name...that's being orchestrated by the media. We all know by now that the media is what helped to get Obama into the White House. I'm telling ya...just keep watching and you'll see.

Shooter Didn't Like Waking Up For Work

About those of us who grew up with a work ethic as the commenter points out, that background gives us an advantage over the entitlement generation. We understand the value of work and being rewarded for it. It's perfectly logical to us. I don’t know about y’all, but it’s before 5 am and I’m getting ready for work.

But the guy who ran the restaurant the Navy Yard shooter frequented said the shooter had quit his job because he said he didn’t like waking up in the morning. Can you imagine what it would be like to work with such a person who felt he shouldn’t even have to wake up to be paid? Our departure from demanding work if you want to get paid is leading to irrational behavior from the entitlement generation. There will be more to come. Ayn Rand predicted such behavior near the end.

About Cutting City Trees

The whole idea that we must cut down trees, bushes and other beautifully growing things is suspect. Pruning is one thing, but simply cutting down a tree so a crime camera can "see" better is giving into the wrong forces. The same with cultivated vegetation of all kinds near highways and roads for safety. The I-20 exits had been beautifully landscaped by local volunteers, yet the highway department decided it was safer to simply have barren strips of land.

Cutting down trees

Cutting down trees & clear cutting is one of the saddest things to me....it looks like a gaping wound & it never heals properly.....there is something to be said about beauty in our world.....a woman ---a garden----a home --or a roadway....I feel the "beauty" when I see it....sometimes on a roadway that has been beautifully landscaped & sometimes on a photo of a beautiful & classy lady of long ago.

Calif. Liberal / Socialist / Democrat Senator Ms. Feinstein announced calls for NEW gun control laws again after Navy Yard shooting.

All this BEFORE knowing the facts, or maybe she knows the game plans what the facts will be?

While Socialists and Liberals are trying to take legally owned self defense and sports, and hunting means away from honest citizens in the USA to avoid crime related killings????

To confuse matters more,
Obama turns right around and waives a congressional ban on
arming terrorists in Syrian, THAT are on video killing
Christians, civilians and are the ones getting Iranian support
and may have been the 1's that used captured Chemical Weapons?

dwb619 - 911 and sitting ducks

My group was in Tallahassee for the Governors Security Conf. a week after 9-11 (17-18). We had finished our dog and pony show, had given a few security demos and security briefings and had moved to the top floor of a tall building for socializing. There was a small group discussing the Nimda worm/virus and it was now dusk.

All of a sudden we heard a women scream & a man yell.
The crowd started running away from the windows, towards the elevators and stairwell exits.

My group stood there and smiled.

The women and man had mistaken a Jet taking off from TLH and climbing out into the Air traffic flight pattern as another 9-11 attack.

It must have taken a good hour and many drinks to get the group loosened up again.

While more that one "official' apologized to women and friends for shoving them out of the way to get to an elevator and/or stairwell doors.

If those of us with Dash Cam posted our videos there would be a lot civilians and a few LEO's hiding their faces.

My best to date.
About 4 or 5 weeks ago.
The Women entering Bobby Jones, East bound leaving Wheeler Rd,
crossed 3 lanes almost hitting 2 cars and was into the left break down area next the wall before she looked up and put the phone down.

We watched a minute later as she grabbed the phone, clearly ticked off, and started to send a message. In doing so she repeated the same stupid driving stunt back across Bobby Jones to the opposite side almost hitting a large truck. Which laid down on the train horn and she panicked and dropped the phone likely to the floor board.

Yep you guess it... Down the road we see her, by the Gordon Hwy exit, trying to reach down while driving to get the phone.

Cell phones don't kill, it is the idiots using them that do.

32 people dead in a 15 day period

13 shot & killed in the news BUT this happened in September 2012

DETROIT (myFOXDetroit.com) -
It has been a violent two weeks in Detroit. There have been 32 murders in just 15 days, and that doesn't include non-fatal shootings.

"These are not just people that are dying. These are husbands and fathers and sons and uncles and brothers and good people," said Angela Nelson.

Her husband, a father of five, was one of them. Balloons float in front of the house where David Nelson was visiting on Sheridan Street in Detroit two weeks ago just down the street from where he grew up. Police say a fight broke out between a couple. A man went to shoot his girlfriend, but Nelson pushed her out of the way and took the bullet himself.

Nelson lived through the war in Iraq and even earned a Purple Heart by saving his crew from a roadside bomb, but he couldn't survive the streets of Detroit.

What I am saying is ...we have more dying each & everyday in the streets.....where are the headlines...the tv spots....the cnn & P Morgan demands....how safe would we be if we couldn't protect ourselves.

I was a caseworker and in my training, I had a bilnd person

He had no special l expectations other than having some expectation of being given an opportunity to work. I do not think they expected to be paid the same because they knew they didn't measure up. What is wrong with that? They knew extra money wazs spent to bring them up to a level to make a living that made them feel productive. This client was fortunate to be involved before Lyndon and his complete Great Society.

Media and the Communist News Network

CNN and most of the media went on and on about the shooter having an AR15 anda 9mm. Now they've learned he entered with a 12 ga. shotgun and after killing the first security person took their AR15 and 9mm to continue. Amazing how quiet they've become on that!!
