The Federal Aviation Administration said the experimental aircraft, a Christian Eagle II, struck a barn after leaving the private airstrip on Boulineau Road.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the Hephzibah Police Department were notified of the crash about 2:30 p.m. Local authorities had said the plane crashed while trying to land.
Both people aboard were taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center for injuries that weren’t life-threatening. The name of the pilot was not made public.
The FAA is investigating the incident, and noted that all information is preliminary at this time.
