A single-vehicle crash on Highway 19 North killed a man in Aiken County, the coroner said Monday.

According to a news release, 23-year-old Ryan Jackson, of Aiken County, was traveling south about 1 a.m. when his 2008 Ford F150 left the roadway, overturned and ejected him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, Coroner Tim Carlton said. He was not wearing a seat belt, the coroner added, and both alcohol and driving faster than the posted speed limit are considered to be factors in this crash. Toxicology tests are pending.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Coroner’s Office are investigating, Carlton said.

It's sad a young man died so senselessly. Condolences to the family and relief that no innocent people were killed.
