Rants & Raves

I WAS RAISED IN south Augusta, and I still live in south Augusta. We are pretty good people out here, and we would spend our money in these stores. Stay in Columbia County and don’t talk about south Augusta.

HOMELESS VETERANS should be a mission field for every church in Augusta. We need missionaries going overseas, but look at the plight of veterans here. Surely more can be done by churches without asking the government to do more.

THE MOTHERS OF all gang members believe their sons are sweet, innocent little boys.

THE TRUTH DOESN’T matter anymore in Augusta. The truth doesn’t even enter the equation.

I AM A REPUBLICAN female and disgusted with the division in the party. This is not the “Old South,” and we have to modern up. We have to support immigration reform in order to ever have a Republican in the White House. Lindsay Graham seems to be the only one in the spotlight who realizes our plight.

HOW CAN THE Aiken County school board turn a blind eye to a principal at an elementary school playing “fruit basket turnover” with the teachers each year in order to ensure that his own children get the teacher he wants?

TIRED OF THE SAME old comments: Obama, whites vs. blacks, blacks vs. whites. Small-minded people. The paper is becoming repetitive. I would like to read something uplifting for a change. There are too many things to discuss other than race.

RANT TO ALL THE Augusta area drivers who refuse to use their headlights even during downpours when visibility is greatly reduced! Today was one of those days, and I estimate approximately 50 percent used their lights. Could it be they are unaware it is a law? Or do they just feel the law does not apply to them just like running stop signs and red lights?

THEY NEVER MISS a chance to make fun of the Confederate flag. I don’t care for the cartoon today in your paper.

.
And some of us are sick and tired of OzBama acolytes who frame every criticism of the man as being racist.

Face it.. outside of constant political manipulation, the man is a failure at everything he has done or attempted to do.. e.g., the current mess he has backed us into with Syria.

When faced with a situation that does not involve out maneuvering his Republican opponents, he is reduced to wringing his hands, unable to make an intelligent decision.

Instead of bringing Americans together, he has seized every opportunity do divide us, generally along political, economic or racial lines.

There has never been a more biased, politically agenda driven president in this nation's history. Let's hope he is the last of his kind.

The comments you see on these pages are driven by the man, not the public at large.

If your desire is to read something more "uplifting", my advice to you is to write it yourself.

Wife Saver!

Started in South Augusta at the corner of Milledgeville and Kissingbower Rds. George and Chris Cunningham have made some of the best fried chicken and 'nana puddin' for who knows how many years! Maybe 40!

Another good home grown South Augusta restaurant!

I was out the night that the original Sconyers on Peach Orchard Rd near Harding Rd. burned down. First one was just a rag tag shack.

But Countyman, since you know everything about everything, as LW/B gentrifies, where are they going to get the people to buy the houses?

Because you can put expensive houses down there, then tell the owners that their kids are going to go to some of the worst schools in Georgia.

We see that, you don't.

Bright Side

Well, the "branding" campaign underway of the Laney Walker new homes could just say that the best fit is people who do not intend to have children or whose children are grown and moved out. That way, they would not care about the condition of the schools.

Why do otherwise very

Why do otherwise very intelligent people read nutcase blog sites and believe every blessed thing they say?

godfatherpolitics.com? Really? Who would ever think THAT'S a credible source? Dailycaller.com? wnd.com?

Where do people FIND this stuff? And those stories- REALLY? The things they say on there are absolutely nonsensical.

Like Obama is waging war on black children? How preposterous is THAT? They quote nationally known figures (*snort*) like Gene Mills, "Executive Director of the Louisiana Family Forum", with a whopping staff of 5 people. You know, that promotes "traditional families". Guess they wouldn't like people like me, who were divorced.

The truly dumb part is that Obama can't be elected again, these stories are just bizarre.

And, of course, what those nutcase blogs fail to mention is that the Department of Justice is suing the State of Louisiana to block the issuance of school vouchers ONLY IN THOSE PARISHES THAT ARE UNDER DESEGREGATION ORDERS.

Because, you see, there's a funny part of the Constitution that says a state can't pass any law contrary to Federal law.

Gosh DARN that pesky Constitution, why can't people just pick and choose from it as it suits them? WHY does the Federal Government INSIST that states follow Federal laws and the Constitution? WHY?

Good question Corgimom

WHY???:"Attorney General Eric Holder, in a conference call Thursday morning, notified the governors of Colorado and Washington that the department, for now, will not seek to pre-empt those states' laws, which followed voters' approval of ballot measures that legalized recreational marijuana use." I'll hazard a guess. Because it is political expedient.

I guess that those sites can be said to be at least as reliable as anything that comes out of Obama"s mouth.

And yes, they are the writers' opinions, not unlike a lot of your comments.

One man I dislike a whole lot

One man I dislike a whole lot is Dick Chaney. I don't talk about him everyday. I hardly ever talk about him. People on here talk about Obama day in and day out. It has gotten old. He is our President and there is nothing any of you can do about that. So do what the serenity prayer says and accept what you can't change. Your moaning and groaning is fruitless and childish.

Happy - Don't look now but Dick Cheney was

never president, isn't in office and can do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to impact our lives today. When he was in office, he was limited to giving advice only. He had ZERO executive power.

On the other hand, OzBama, on a daily basis defies the will of the people, abrogates the Constitution and flaunts established law.

And yes, there is a lot we can do about it if we become less interested in our daily pleasures and comforts and more concerned about the future of our children and our nation.

So, tell me again why you obsess over Dick Cheney?

I just can't see the connection.
