Tables, chairs, booze taken from Eros Bistro on Broad Street

A Broad Street restaurant was closed Wednesday night after the dining tables, chairs, beer and wine went missing, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Eros Bistro, 1002 Broad Street, was ransacked and stripped of its furniture between 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The restaurant was empty and lights turned off Wednesday at 9 p.m.

An employee of Augusta Linen was attempting to deliver linens to the restaurant Wednesday morning when he flagged down a deputy because the door was open but no one was inside, according to the report.

The deputy found the side door had been pried open and three other doors had been forced open, causing extensive damage.

The deputy contacted the business owner, Deborah Caron, who said nothing was missing when she left the restaurant Tuesday.

Caron told the deputy she had an argument with her son, Michael Brown, and she suspected he had taken the missing items, according to the report.

Brown previously told The Augusta Chronicle he was a co-owner of the Greek and Italian restaurant that opened in December.

According to the deputy’s report, employees of nearby businesses saw a moving truck parked outside Eros Bistro from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning.

The tables and chairs were valued at $10,000 and cases of wine and champagne at $4,000.

Either the son or the mom is

Either the son or the mom is not a trustworthy person. I don't know if I'd told this as Lewis Grizzard used to say.

Factoid

Second paragraph, last sentence — what is its significance? Why did the reporter choose that particular time stamp (9 p.m.) to inform of the status? Do we need updates periodically of the status of the restaurant?

We ate there and the food was so, so. Definitely not worthy of a return trip. Too many other places to eat in the CSRA. I hope the workers find new jobs soon and another eatery opens there soon.

all due respect. If I were going downtown and wanted some mediterranean fare, I'd think in terms of Luigi's. Maybe it'll work out though.

I hate to see parent-child

I hate to see parent-child arguments like that. That's not how it's supposed to be, and neither side ever wins.
