I’M LOVING THE sheriff’s new Web site, www.richmondcountysheriffsoffice.com, especially the comment section under “Get In Touch.” You can make suggestions for improving driver safety and much more or ask questions on any subject. At some point the FAQ section will have some great questions and answers. Finally, the 21st century has arrived in Augusta.

IN SYRIA, THE Muslim Sunni are fighting the Muslim Shiites. This has gone on for roughly 1,400 years. Nobody can stop this until one or the other side kills off all its opponents. Meanwhile, President Obama and apparently all other U.S. politicians seem to think they can fix this historical battle, when they cannot.

NO BILL HAS BEEN introduced to exempt members of Congress from the Affordable Care Act, and they were never exempt in the first place. In fact, members of Congress and their staffers face additional requirements that most Americans don’t have to meet.

EGYPT IS IN absolute chaos, as is Syria, as is Iraq, as are dozens of places around the globe. At least a part of this chaos has been financed by U.S. taxpayers for years. We should cut off aid to any country that is not proved to be 100 percent on our side. That pretty much means we can only give foreign aid to Israel.

FOR THE PERSON upset over phones given away by the government, please do a little history research. That program was actually started by his predecessor, George W. Bush. If you have a problem with the program, give credit where credit is due. I personally don’t have a problem with providing phone access to the poor now that you can no longer find pay phones on every corner. So yes, I give credit where credit is due.

FIFTY YEARS AFTER John Kennedy was shot, many files are still sealed and withheld from public view. Why is that necessary? The only logical answer is to shield somebody with major influence in government from getting caught. I wonder who that was/is?

THIS IS TO THE Augusta Utilities Department. My water bill has been due on the 27th of every month for the past 20 years. I just got a bill with late penalties. They should have notified they were suddenly changing the due date, or at least highlighted it on the bill. This is a great way for them to get more money.

Last week I learn I am a Subversive.

I learned of this because a Constitutional watchdog group named Judicial Watch obtained demanded documents.

These documents, when finally turned over, showed those who embrace; “individual liberties”, "The Bill of Rights", "A Fair Tax", "A Balanced Budget", and have "Fundamental Christian beliefs" and other characteristics, are likely subversives, potential “extremists” who are also likely to be members of “hate groups.”

I am not sure, which bothers me more:
That my Government in defining me as a subversive feels, any person following the US Constitution is considered dangerous and needs to labled and monitored.

Or,

the fact the Government turned to the Southern Poverty Law Center for help in determining which groups and people to monitor.

Wasting our energy

Just like River said we are spending so much time on trivial things ..heh, like murals.. well the whole USA is spending & wasting time 24/7 & it is killing us....we know where the problems are but we dance around them like fireflys....afraid to offend---afraid of pc rules--& most of all stupid & insane law suits....

For example...the P Deen affair....the Zimm lawsuit.....give me a freaking break....the young of ALL COLORS have never had it so good.
I think bringing back the draft would be a good thing...make men out of thugs....maybe they wouldn't have so much time to shoot babies in the face..

So.....having a war might bring peace in the USA....

Photos of Movie Stars for Icons

It is a common practice on some websites for commenters to use photos of movie stars as icons. I find it funny when someone uses a photo of a movie star some think the person is trying to make others believe he/she looks the same as the movie star. I used to have a photo of Brad Pitt on my icon when I was known as Super Stud on the Mormons for Hook-ups site. Ha, did I get them. I’m a Southern Baptist.

If fast food workers begin receiving $15 an hour I'm going to buy stock in paper bag companies because lots of brown bagging will be going on.

Baseball Stadium

I was in Nashville this week and the whole town is in a uproar over the Mayor's proposal to build a new stadium for the minor league team on the river. Spend a bunch on new river development and such. I think Little Lamb called in once.

River

I truly am at a loss over this fascination with building baseball stadia on riverbanks. When you go to a ball park, you are going to look at a ball game, not to look at a river! It's just a mis-use of riverfront property.

How many home games do minor league baseball teams play — maybe 50 or 60? That leaves three hundred days a year where the ball park is cold and dark. Not a wise use of scenic riverfront property.

Weird

The Mayor also wants to give ABC $500K toward the production of the TV Show "Nashville". And, I think I heard that the state gives $2M.

LL and JTF, that's a good point

Well, LL and JTF, that's a good point. Some say stadiums are concrete deserted islands most of the time. I guess the idea is to find events to fill it on other days and the river location may be conducive to that experience. Who knows?

Nationwide, the count of

Nationwide, the count of America's poor remains stuck at a record number: 46.2 million, or 15 percent of the population, due in part to lingering high unemployment following the recession. While poverty rates for blacks and Hispanics are nearly three times higher, by absolute numbers the predominant face of the poor is white.

More than 19 million whites fall below the poverty line of $23,021 for a family of four, accounting for more than 41 percent of the nation's destitute, nearly double the number of poor blacks.

Sometimes termed "the invisible poor" by demographers, lower-income whites generally are dispersed in suburbs as well as small rural towns, where more than 60 percent of the poor are white. While racial and ethnic minorities are more likely to live in poverty, race disparities in the poverty rate have narrowed substantially since the 1970s, census data show.As nonwhites approach a numerical majority in the U.S., one question is how public programs to lift the disadvantaged should be best focused -- on the affirmative action that historically has tried to eliminate the racial barriers seen as the major impediment to economic equality, or simply on improving socioeconomic status for all, regardless of race. Since whites will soon be a minority will we receive affirmative action?

About the cell phones, I

About the cell phones, I believe it was started before President Bush when telephones with lines were being installed in rural areas. It may have started with cell phones under Bush but has gotten out of control under Obama. If you think the poor with them are using them to get jobs then walk around the neighboorhoods or watch at the yellow tents being set up to get people signed on. The phones are cheap pieces of garbage that you can hardly hear on and when the minuets are out the cost is very high to reload. That is why some have two or three phones.

I agree we have a huge problem biz

"More than 19 million whites fall below the poverty line of $23,021 for a family of four, accounting for more than 41 percent of the nation's destitute, nearly double the number of poor blacks."

So...what is the answer.....what will bring in more jobs for all races...that is really our biggest problem. Suggestions.

SYRIA
Unpublished

Stay out of Syria! It's none of our business who kills who in that mess of a country. Israel is our only true ally in that whole region. The rest just take our money and keep hating us. Obama is only looking into getting involved because he shot his mouth off about the" crossing the red line" thing. Better for himto admit he made a mistake than America to finance another war and provide most of the manpower. Afganistan is a mess and we should pull out immediately and not replace it with Syria. All the politicians calling for action should have to send their own kids in to battle first.

Obama Phones

No, they have 2 or 3 phones to conduct drug deals with and to sell to buy alcohol and drugs. I've seen it and see it everyday. I've reported it and get the response of "What can we do about it?" I see 18 year olds who want to rent an apartment who can't because their relatives used their social security numbers to get credit cards and loans that they defaulted on. Most keep getting the phones because they don't want to spend the money to buy the minutes, so they just go and get a new phone. Wait until they use your social security number to get one!!

Poverty and Jobs

Some people want to live that way. When the company I work for advertises an entry level job we get more than 3000 resume's. Out of that we start by qualifications and test 300, by the end of the testing we're down to 50, then the background checks and drug testing begin. When all that is done we're down to about 5 of which maybe 2 will last, the other 3 don't like to work or can't seem to get to work less than 2 hours late if at all! More Jobs won't fix it, making them work in a less than desirable labor for the Government handout will.

Riverman, never take a car

Riverman, never take a car across the Mexican border in Tiajuana. When you come back over the border, and are on US soil, you and your vehicle will be subject to the same kind of search, before you can go through the gates.

You can watch the K-9's, they love jumping in and out of the trunks of the cars.

And by the way, Riverman, what the police officers were doing is perfectly legal. You may not like it, but it's not about what you think is or isn't appropriate, it's what the law says is legal.

Anybody can look in your car windows at any time, and having a K-9 sniff around the outside of your car is not an invasion of your privacy.

I know that's one of your hot buttons, but there isn't privacy in a car with windows.

That's like saying a police officer isn't allowed to look at the front of your house or your yard.

nocnoc, did you actually READ

nocnoc, did you actually READ the documents?

Because I read that page too, and you are twisting it around. No, they did not say "These documents, when finally turned over, showed those who embrace; “individual liberties”, "The Bill of Rights", "A Fair Tax", "A Balanced Budget", and have "Fundamental Christian beliefs" and other characteristics, are likely subversives, potential “extremists” who are also likely to be members of “hate groups.”

They said members of hate groups are likely to have those characteristics.

There's a huge difference.

It states very plainly "While not all extremist groups are hate groups, all hate groups are extremist groups."

It doesn't get any clearer than that.

It is called "in plain view". If a cop shows up at a house full of teens to quell loud music and sees a beer or bag of weed on the table while standing at the door, he can proceed without a warrant.
