Augusta plans Sept. 11 ceremonies

Augusta’s public safety departments are holding a Sept. 11 remembrance service on this year’s anniversary to honor the lives lost 12 years ago.

The public ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at Augusta Common. There is no charge.

During the event, public safety departments will acknowledge local families and volunteers, have flags marking public safety members who died, toll bells to symbolize the New York towers’ collapse, and hear messages and remarks from special guests and local departments.
