A 50-year-old Midville man is dead after hitting the back of a logging truck Friday morning on U.S. Highway 25 in Burke County.

A pickup truck driven by Bennie George Taylor was going southbound just north of George Perkins Road about 6:10 a.m. when it collided with the logging truck, according to Georgia State Patrol Sgt. L. Ruffin. Logs penetrated the windshield of Taylor’s vehicle. He died at the scene.

The logging truck driver was not injured.

6:10am early and just cracking dawn

Question:
1.) Did the Logging truck have the Warning Strobe lights mounted and turned ON?

2.) Headed southbound? Is there a paper/pulp mill down that way?
Or was he headed North in the direction of Federal Paper?

Yes the Truck did have the

Yes the Truck did have the Strobe lights installed and on the truck and they were on .
Yes the truck was Southbound,The truck was in the turning lane(left) it is believed that the truck was cutting through on Gresham Road to get to Hwy 56 North to go to the paper mill.
It is also believed that Mr. Taylor fell asleep at the wheel and his truck ran into the back of the log truck that was waiting to turn onto Gresham Road. It was a very gruesome scene .
