Rants & Raves

  • Follow Metro

RANTS TO ALL THE parents who refuse to take care of your children. You need to be locked up. It is bad that the children have to suffer because some parents won’t pay for their children.

RANTS TO THE Columbia County transit driver who is not polite to the public. He is not nice like the other drivers.

OUR COUNTRY IS in a sad state of affairs. Every Christian ought to pray because this country is headed for destruction.

YOU CAN CRITICIZE MacArthur for going too far into Korea, but look at what we have now. We still have troops in Korea.

WHEN WAS THE last time there was a full audit of all departments and commissioners of the Richmond County government?

WE NEED STRONG armed forces to keep us free. Please don’t let us fall behind.

IF THE VOTERS KEEP voting for the special purpose local option sales tax, all they are doing is sending a message to the local government that it is OK to keep raising taxes. That is a voluntary tax. Now they gripe about the sheriff or the school board wanting to add a tax. Send a message; vote against the tax next time.

WHAT DOES THE sheriff think about the pants hanging down and shirts with obscene writing on them?

DR. AZIZZ, HOW can one man make a nurse of 23 years hate his job so much? And make his family hate his job, too? Why did you do it?

TO THE COUPLE IN THE maroon Saturn: Please stop throwing your lit cigarette butts out of the window; it can cause a serious fire.

RANT FOR THE government. I guess now that the welfare people won’t even have to pay for feeding their kids, we will see more money go for chrome rims on the Mercedeses and Escalades

RANT FOR OUR pathetic government. Welfare people in Richmond County are paid well to feed their kids on the food stamp program. Most of this is fraud and waste anyway.

Nice article KSL. I think

Nice article KSL. I think most people have yet to realize the far reaching and all-encompassing effects of this dastardly assault on our freedom.

Charitable Hospitals

That's not surprising, KSL. The Democrats want a single-payer medical system with the Federal government calling all the shots (pun intended). They don't want charitable hospitals making decisions who to treat and how.

"People are more than welcome to do so on private property, that is what is protected under the Constitition.

Because to do so on public property infringes on other people's Constitutional rights."

Can you please explain to me SPECIFICALLY, how placing a manger scene on public property is MAKING A LAW, respecting the ESTABLISHMENT of religion?

Now, pay close attention to the words, MAKING A LAW. How is putting a manger scene, making a law? Explain please.

Now, how is placing a manger scene, respecting an ESTABLISHMENT of religion? Explain please.

Now, you COULD say that it's SUGGESTIVE, but certainly can NOT say it's MAKING A LAW.

You could also say it's respecting a religion (Christianity) but certainly NOT respecting the ESTABLISHMENT of a religion, because a manger scene is not establishing a State religion. Please give your thoughts and not just a vague "violating peoples rights" answer. Please tell us HOW this is violating the 1st amendment.

Remember, no where in the Constitution does it give people the right to NEVER be offended!! Some people just need to get thicker skin and stop being pests with this "I'm offended" stuff!!

Ranter #1

How about a RANT for those who won't discipline their children?? Then when their children are teenagers and completely out of control, they call the police on them!! They expect us to fix them in 10 minutes, when they haven't disciplined them in 13 years!! Then they question why their teen is acting like this and want the system to fix it!!

I was on a call not long ago where the teen simply wouldn't obey. He hadn't assaulted them, just simply wouldn't do what they said and back talked them. Mother said she was at her wits end and didn't know what to do. Later in the conversation, I asked to see the teens room. Honestly, inside the room was a 42 inch TV, a Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, (because he likes some games on Xbox that aren't available with PS3), a nice stereo system, which mother stated he plays to loud but won't turn it down. But, the stereo was still in the room.

I asked her "What have you done to punish him?" She said "What can I do, I can't beat him." I said "No, but you could start by taking all this stuff away." She said "I can't he won't let me."

Now, Mind you; his stepfather is sitting on the couch and hasn't said a word. He later told me that every time he tries to intervene, she tells him to let her handled it. So, they need the police to discipline their teen; but they haven't even taken the entertainment items from his room.

If it were me, I would take the items and if the tried to stop me, I would bust the ITEMS with a hammer and NEVER buy him anything else!! At least not until he PROVED himself and improved his behavior!!

Well, I wouldn't bust the TV, I would just put it in my room. But the games I would bust, because I don't play video games!!

But you can't start the discipline of a child when they are teenagers. You must establish that, much earlier in life.

Coming soon to a neighborhood

... like yours. A heavily armed goon squad, better known as SWAT, raided an organic farm looking for marijuana. Smashed their way in (though not sure why; perhaps fearing the plants might escape?), handcuffed everyone and then not finding any, stole thousands of dollars worth of not-marijuana (trophies?) because of code violations like the grass (non-maijuana) and bushes being too tall, a couch and piano in the yard, chopped wood that was not stacked properly (!) and a piece of siding that was missing from the side of the house. For this you call SWAT. and boy are they happy to go! Much more fun --and safer-- than armed criminals.

And you thought the Columbia County creeper-peeper code guy was bad!

You might want to brush up your knowledge of Civil Rights and Criminal acts. You do realize you can violate someone's civil rights without committing a crime, right? Why do you think O.J. was found NOT guilty, yet still found liable in CIVIL COURT!!

I NEVER said placing a manger, or taking it away was a criminal violation. We were talking about CIVIL RIGHTS!!!

I'm beginning to believe that actually have no idea what the 1st Amendment actually says; because if you believe I was talking about criminality, then you're clueless. So, I'll provide the actual text below and ASKED AGAIN; how placing a manger in ANY public building, violating the 1st Amendment AND therefore ANYONES rights.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Now, If I'm not mistaken; it says Congress shall MAKE NO LAW, respecting an ESTABLISHMENT of religion.

Now, I will asked AGAIN; how is placing any Christian display in a public arena, making a law or establishing a religion? How in ANY way is that forcing ANYONE to worship Christianity? How is that prohibiting anyone from worshipping any god they choose?

Now, instead of talking about criminality and deflecting the question, let's talk about the specifics of my questions.

How many times have you been arrested? It's very clear you have an unbalanced disdain for law enforcement. Anyone with common sense knows that in a profession of almost a million people, there will be bad seeds and bad incidents. We hope those incidents are few and far between, but with human error, it will always happen. But your grudge is very apparent!! Did you check those links I provided? I seriously doubt it!!

And it is not because of

And it is not because of anything evil white people other than white progressives have done. Otherwise, please explain why black people made such great strides after the end of the Civil War, even with the Jim Crow laws. The downslide started with the Great Society. Now we have a new type of slavery. It is slavery of the brain, not the body. And it is a deceitful type of slavery, in that the new slaves cannot recognize that the people who are truly enslaving them are the very ones who are using it to advance theit own agendas.

A man after my own heart....

When my son was growing up, I was gone a lot. (A lot, like tours in Vietnam, Korea etc.).

He was becoming much like the kid you described. About the time he was in high school, I took control and pretty much did crack down.

Never laid a hand on him. Did take away a lot of "stuff". Over time the insolent and indolent teen became respectful and studious.

He became a LEO, a field agent for the FBI and later a college professor. To this date, our relationship couldn't be better.

Kids need a father and I was almost never there. Then I was. It makes a difference.

Thanks for sharing that!

I married a women (the light of my life!) who had 4 boys aged 11 to 16. All in the midst of, or about to start puberty. They had lost their father to suicide only 2 and a half years earlier.

Out of control, angry, with something to prove youngsters/young men. The first 1 to 2 years of our relationship was spent with them trying to drive me away. But my love and commitment to their mother was too strong for them to overcome. I persevered. Even though it was the roughest time of my life.

Many, many times I HAD TO come down hard, and practically every time they probably wished for my death (due to sudden heart attack I'm sure, which they attempted to instigate).

I'm happy to say that 3 of the 4 have became productive, happy, members of society. Men that others look to and come to for help and advice. All 4 come to me for advice (weather they heed it or not, they're still young after all) anytime life throws them a curve-ball.

But it could have turned out very differently.

Like you said – I was there and it made a difference. A huge unmeasurable difference!

I wish all the progressive pop culture moguls would actually try to help people and work that lesson into their “art”.

Young Fred and Darby, you

Young Fred and Darby, you were obviously good fathers. It doesn't take a village. It takes a good mother and a good father.
