Comments from readers:

MANY RAVES TO THE repair people from Georgia Power, repairing a down power line on Walton Way. Service was restored in a few hours, and many people were grateful in our neighborhood.

YOU ARE GOING TO give week-old sandwiches to kids? That is a no-no.

NEWS STORIES USED to require the answer to five questions, including “who” the story was about. The paper has a headline “24 people charged in meth ring case,” but it names nobody. So, it’s a news story without a “who.”

IN REFERENCE TO “Dump downtown smoke”: If you, as a reasonable adult, do not wish to deal with secondhand smoke in a business, simply do not go in. You have every right not to spend your money in that business. However, you do not have the right to tell these businesses who should and should not be allowed in. Or that they need to ban smoking. Your rights end where mine begin.

EVERYONE WHO PAYS taxes in Richmond County should demand to know exactly how many jobs are being cut from that big school board central office. Very few of them provide direct service to students, but the board is so sad to have to cut 75 teachers.

I’M CURIOUS WHY is voter ID OK (and paid for by the American taxpayer) in Kenya, but it is racist here in the U.S.? Isn’t that a bit incongruous?

WHY CELEBRATE July Fourth? We as Americans are not free anymore. Our president is a dictator who is pushing health care down our throats.

GOV. NATHAN DEAL has made 251 appointments to state boards. Georgia government has grown to slob fat just as the federal government. If Deal – and the Legislature – can’t see the insanity of so much state government, it’s time to clean house.

THANK YOU, PAULA Deen, for being responsible for Wal-Mart and other retailers taking offensive rap music that uses slurs off their shelves.

RANT TO DR. AZZIZ. I noticed he was doing a commercial for the best of 2013. He mentioned he was president of GRU, but he left out Augusta. I guess that is the norm.

For those that think Zimmerman got more than a Fair Trial

The Fla. IT Director Kruidbos that leaked the fact the State of Fla and the DA withheld over 50% of the collected evidence from the defense was fired from his job the hour that the Jury started deliberations.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/13/justice/zimmerman-it-firing/index.html

He testified before Zimmerman's trial began that Martin's cell phone contained images of Martin blowing smoke, images of marijuana and deleted text messages regarding a transaction for a firearm and that those images had not been given to Zimmerman's defense team.

Later the Judge refuse to allow the additional information to be used in the trial.

The President openly took sides, before the election.

The United States Department of Justice funded and escorted protestors against Zimmerman and the Chief of Police which had concluded his investigation having found no wrong doing.

Then we have the DA going for 2nd degree murder realizing he failed to prove his case and asks the Judge to allow that lesser charge be permitted. The defense was blind sided having prepared an fought 1 type trail only to find out his client 60% through the trial would face another possible criminal punishment.

Then we have a Judge who is Pro-Obama, with campaign donations to his election and speeches for Obama, conducting and aggressive interrogation of Zimmerman over the object his lawyers.

A Judge, we now learn from several news sources, that has been
in regular contact with the United States Department of Justice
regarding the case.

So I ask you, do you feel Zimmerman got a fair trial?

Or do you feel Zimmerman was the dog that got wagged this time around for political needs?

No

The trial was not fair; but we can pray for an honest, courageous jury to hand down an acquittal on all counts.

"... an honest, courageous jury ..."

It would take an insanely brave jury. Given the state sponsored trial tampering shown before and during this trial, does anyone believe the jurors will be safe if they do not convict? Their name, addresses, phone numbers will be out there before they leave the courthouse.

Accidently, of course.

@Riverman1 Fantistic Jury

It didn't take a fantastic jury to go against outside pressure. It took a fantastic jury to hear the facts and render a decision based on those facts! Glad they did just that!

Like the above, I am

Like the above, I am astonished that the jury ruled on facts and not emotion. I was ready for the OJ trial all over again, just inversely.

As I said on the other thread though, I take no joy in the verdict, just satisfaction that the jury put aside emotion and a biased judge to look at the facts in the case with the applicable laws.

Really, this was a no-win trial; I feel for the family of Martin too. He probably was a little more sinister than portrayed, but he still didn't deserve death for the circumstances. Sad all the way around.

Kulula Airlines

How long do you think they could get by with this in the U.S. before the anal retentive public and parasitic lawyers shut it down?

Kulula is a low-cost South-African airline that doesn't take itself too seriously.

WHAT A PITY KULULA DOESN'T FLY INTERNATIONALLY - WE SHOULD SUPPORT THEM IF ONLY FOR THEIR HUMOUR - SO TYPICALLY SOUTH AFRICAN.
Kulula is an Airline with head office situated in Johannesburg . Kulula airline attendants make an effort to make the in-flight "safety lecture" and announcements a bit more entertaining.
Here are some real examples that have been heard or reported:

On a Kulula flight, (there is no assigned seating, you just sit where you want) passengers were apparently having a hard time choosing, when a flight attendant announced,
"People, people we're not picking out furniture here, find a seat and get in it !"

On another flight with a very "senior" flight attendant crew, the pilot said,
"Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached cruising altitude and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants."

On landing, the stewardess said,
"Please be sure to take all of your belongings.. If you're going to leave anything, please make sure it 's something we'd like to have."

"There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways out of this airplane."

"Thank you for flying Kulula. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride."

As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Durban Airport , a lone voice came over the loudspeaker:
"Whoa, big fella. WHOA!"

After a particularly rough landing during thunderstorms in the Karoo, a flight attendant on a flight announced, "Please take care when opening the overhead compartments because, after a landing like that, sure as hell everything has shifted."

From a Kulula employee:
"Welcome aboard Kulula 271 to Port Elizabeth . To operate your seat belt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and pull tight. It works just like every other seat belt; and, if you don't know how to operate one, you probably shouldn't be out in public unsupervised."

"In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, masks will descend from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child traveling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are traveling with more than one small child, pick your favorite."

"Weather at our destination is 50 degrees with some broken clouds, but we'll try to have them fixed before we arrive. Thank you, and remember, nobody loves you, or your money, more than Kulula Airlines."

"Your seat cushions can be used for flotation; and in the event of an emergency water landing, please paddle to shore and take them with our compliments."

"As you exit the plane, make sure to gather all of your belongings. Anything left behind will be distributed evenly among the flight attendants. Please do not leave children or spouses.."

And from the pilot during his welcome message:
"Kulula Airlines is pleased to announce that we have some of the best flight attendants in the industry. Unfortunately, none of them are on this flight!"

Heard on Kulula 255 just after a very hard landing in Cape Town : The flight attendant came on the intercom and said,
"That was quite a bump and I know what y'all are thinking. I'm here to tell you it wasn't the airline's fault, it wasn't the pilot's fault, it wasn't the flight attendant's fault, it was the asphalt."

Overheard on a Kulula flight into Cape Town , on a particularly windy and bumpy day: During the final approach, the Captain really had to fight it. After an extremely hard landing, the Flight Attendant said,
"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to The Mother City. Please remain in your seats with your seat belts fastened while the Captain taxis what's left of our airplane to the gate!"

Another flight attendant's comment on a less than perfect landing: "We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the terminal."

An airline pilot wrote that on this particular flight he had hammered his ship into the runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the passengers exited, smile, and give them a "Thanks for flying our airline". He said that, in light of his bad landing, he had a hard time looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment. Finally everyone had gotten off except for a little old lady walking with a cane. She said,
"Sir, do you mind if I ask you a question?"
"Why, no Ma'am," said the pilot. "What is it ?"
The little old lady said,
"Did we land, or were we shot down?"

After a real crusher of a landing in Johannesburg, the attendant came on with,
"Ladies and Gentlemen, please remain in your seats until Captain Crash and the Crew have brought the aircraft to a screeching halt against the gate. And, once the tire smoke has cleared and the warning bells are silenced, we will open the door and you can pick your way through the wreckage to the terminal.."

Part of a flight attendant's arrival announcement:
"We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today.. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we hope you'll think of Kulula Airways."

Heard on a Kulula flight:
"Ladies and gentlemen, if you wish to smoke, the smoking section on this airplane is on the wing.. If you can light 'em, you can smoke 'em."

Pro Levee folks

Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoQUvP0xR7I&feature=youtu.be

Look at the markings where he stands on the 8th street levee cut. I believe it says something like 149 ft pretty close to the walkway level. The river today is some 30 feet below that, and it is close to a historic high since the dam was built.
Also note the comments about the levee trapping water inside when it was overtopped before the dam was built.
With the three dams on the river, the levee serves no useful purpose beyond aesthetics for some.

Why is Oakland such a hotbed?

SAN FRANCISCO — Protesters angered by the acquittal of George Zimmerman held largely peaceful demonstrations in three California cities, but broke windows and started small street fires Oakland, police said.

The gatherings Saturday night ranged from a few dozen to a couple hundred people turning out to protest the verdict in the Florida courtroom over the death of Trayvon Martin, and police said some of the demonstrations continued into the early hours Sunday.

Southwest Airlines

Back in the day, Southwest Airlines has a similiar reputation for joking around. Of course the FAA stopped them I guess. They are more "professional" now. Once, the flight atendent said, " please remain seated until the plane as reached the gate. You may then beat the hell out of each other trying to get off, so you can go to baggage claim and wait 30 minutes for your luggage."

Almost forgot ....Something

Almost forgot ....
Something else to put how the race card playing / race baiters gamed the incident for fame, media attention and donations.

REMEMBER WHILE:
The New Black Panthers offered $10,000 bounty for capture of George Zimmerman?

This is a State and Federal crime, but we never saw any arrests?

Remember when the New Black Panthers where charged with denying only non-black voters in Pittsburgh, to access the Voting polls?

They only got their hands slapped and told they could not do it again until the next national election. (SERIOUSLY) they worked out a deal with the DOJ that kept them away from normally closed voting areas (3years) until the next national election.

Say what you can,
but remember DOJ Attorney General Eric Holder was appointed by President Barry Santos (Obama). IF the president was unhappy about wiretapping, gun running, voter fraud, misuse by the IRS, NSA, FBI, CIA and other abuses of power or constitutional rights, he'd fire a lot of people after the last election.

Give that some thought.

Air South (now defunked) in the mid 1990's

A small regional that did Atlanta, Columbia, RTP, Charlotte and back circle.

We had a stewardess that tried lighten up a repeated rough landing.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, if you haven't guessed, we have a Retired Navy fighter pilot at the controls this morning."

One difference among many

... is Zimmerman leaving the courtroom. Didn't see it, didja? He's in hiding for the rest of his life. OJ walked out of court straight to the country club and a commercial set.

Now, tell me again, which group is the lynch mob racists?

Zimmerman is not Racist

Travon. was targeted because he looked suspicious and out of place and Zimmerman was tring to protect his and neighbors property. Zimmerman was attacked and concrete side walk was used has a weapon. The Justice is now being called in for civil rights violations. The prosecutors and the judge for the trial is the ones they should be looked at for with holding evidence and why the individual for telling on them fired. What about Justice for all Obama.

Yes, but those aesthetics are very nice. When you are walking on the lower walk, you can look westward and enjoy the beautiful plantings among the rock gardens on the banks of the levee. There are shrubs, trees, sculptures, flowers, and other interesting items — vistas that make a wonderful walk. Don't tear down something so beautiful.
