Comments from readers:

RANTS FOR PRISONS for letting convicted murderers get married in prison. This is insane.

THE AIR FORCE has banned a use of the word “God.” Anytime God wants to swat every Air Force plane from the sky, He can. Our leaders had better wake up.

IN 1943, PRESIDENT Franklin D. Roosevelt started withholding money from people’s paychecks, a sign that the IRS didn’t trust Americans while insisting that Americans trust the IRS. Now we see President Obama using the IRS to “enforce” health care. In a sane world, health care is not something that is “enforced.” Obama has invented a phony connection between taxes and health as his mechanism to flush freedom down the drain.

BECAUSE OBAMA IS president, the White House is obviously integrated. It can’t get any higher than that, yet federal courts continue to ride herd on good Southerners 40 years after a court desegregated Augusta schools. When is it enough?

RANTERS HAVE POOR math skills. We went from two garbage pickups, one recycle, one yard waste and one bulk waste for a total of five services each week. Take away one garbage pickup still leaves you with four services each week, a reduction of only 20 percent. The cost did not change because you have to pay the 20 percent for cleaner air. Or would you prefer to have to have to have a clean air sticker on you vehicle every year? How much do you think that will cost you?

RANT TO THE EDITORIAL staff for highlighting anti-smoking at bars. The Chronicle has posted numerous editorials against government overreach and regulations in many areas, including health care. I would much rather share the roads with a person who just smoked half a pack of cigarettes than someone who has two mixed drinks at a bar. Also, Marie Antoinette did not say “Let them eat cake”; she refused to disclaim the rumor because she thought it was just too silly.

MY RECYCLABLES HAVE been out for two days and no one had picked them up. I have called the 311 line numerous times and have had no response from them.

RAVES TO MR. MITCHELL at the Harlem IGA. He is always so nice to people. He does his work with a smile.

"When is it enough?"

When the last racist in America dies. Based on the virulent racist policies of the Democratic party, I'd say, never.

"RANTERS HAVE POOR math skills".

The poster's logic is risible and would embarrass the Soviet Central Committee. They are supposed to come once a week --although they haven't managed to do so-- and all of those other services get done then, or in the case now, not at all. Clean air? Have you smelled kitchen waste after two weeks in Georgia summer heat?

"...Marie Antoinette did not say “Let them eat cake"

... she refused to disclaim the rumor.

But like "I can see Russia from my porch" a lie perpetrated by deliberately dishonest ideologues repeated often enough becomes the truth. Goebbles, who would blush if he had to defend liberals, said that. Like the claim a million people a year die from smoking, duly repeated in every propaganda outlet.

Marie Antoinette Driving a Renault...and Twinkies

I can see Marie Antoinette driving her Renault, smoking a Winston after drinking at a bar and throwing out Twinkie cakes to those on the street. (Disclaimer, I have no idea what I just typed means and am not responsible.)

Huh..warm & fuzzy news....?????

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -- General Motors outlined plans on Wednesday for investing $691 million to expand its Mexican operations, including the previously unannounced expansion of its Toluca engine plant.

The plans include a new factory in Silao in central Mexico to build 8-speed transmissions and an upgrade to an existing factory in San Luis Potosi that will make next-generation transmissions, GM Mexico President Ernesto Hernandez said in a statement..

With numerous free trade agreements, a cheap, well-educated labor force, and proximity to the lucrative U.S. auto market, combined with growing demand in South America, automakers have been lining up for two years to set up shop or expand in a country that some analysts believe could eventually overtake Brazil as Latin America's biggest economy.

World War Z - A MOVIE RANT

I waited almost 6 years for this book to be made into a movie and when it finally gets made, Hollywood screws it up from Act 1, with Superman like Zombies.

Why does Hollywood even bother buying the novel rights, if it is going to virtually rewrite the whole under laying concept of a excellent novel when they make a movie from it?

I agree with this..

I would much rather share the roads with a person who just smoked half a pack of cigarettes than someone who has two mixed drinks at a bar.

Banning smoking will not work...it would go the way of banning alcohol....as much as we would like a pristine smoke free world we can't achieve the impossible....we are humans with imperfections....& truth be told we all have habits that help us make it through the day/night.

Remember years ago the NAFTA Debate?

when the 2 major parties where calling Ross Perot crazy about his warnings on NAFTA and what it would do to the USA Economy.

Before NAFTA originally the USA had a trade surplus with Mexico. In a few years After NAFTA the USA had double digit Billion $$$ trade deficits with Mexico. 20 years later the USA has a trade deficit with Mexico over around $70 billion.

OK, So what does a $74 Billion deficit mean?
Think of how many people could be employed with $74 billion.
At a darn good wage of $25 p/hr = 1.4 Million MORE Americans would be now employed making $52K a year.

BTW: Remember during the debate then Vice President Al Gore stated that GM had already started to move jobs back from Mexico to the United States.

See YOUTUBE for the debate.

SBIB4 -----

Been using http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/maps/georgia_map.html
to do research just click on a County for details.

For retirement, taxes, economics, protection of Home values and general sanity. It seems Walton, Jackson, Barrow Co. and Habersham are starting to have a great appeal.

dstewartsr - Many years ago....

In my college statistics class we got into a heated discussion.
About the number of deaths due to smoking.

So the teacher made a great class exercise out of the discussion.

One guy in the class took the time to write the CDC and ask how the number was determined (no real public Internet in those days.)

The response was it seems,
if a person smoked or had smoked previously and had died for medical reason prior the general life expectancy age, that person was deemed a death by smoking.

Another student took the time to add up all the different death numbers attributed to various reasons and found almost 75% of America died each year using the bogus numbers used.

Another student added up all the Gas Savings methods and gadgets
and showed how his gas tank was overflowing by driving down the road.

By the way the class exercise was using statistical data to lie. It was a good class to go with my advance Pol-Sci classes.

Good Morning "AC Friends" & America

Haven't posted some one liners for the past few days due to manicuring of Cobalt Park between the rain drops for the 29th. I have to say that AC has had some good teeth chomping editorials and there has been some real interesting comments made from both sides.

Those who would still like to join and meet some of the members on here are more than welcome. There will be a large amount of barbeque and drinks. You all know that I is a Yankee but enjoy southern company.

Well, still have about 1800 feet of weed eating around the little 21 acre pool. See you all Saturday.

Remember, those that will be using the firing range, please bring your own glasses and ear protectors.

That is pretty much the method the court found to be "...flawed and subject to biased abuse." But one sane jurist does not a court system make; I doubt, given the political bias of today's judges, that today the same finding would be made.

"PAULA DEEN SALES ARE THROUGH THE ROOF!"

Yeah, Dear Leader's propaganda arm seems to have learned nothing from the Chik-fil-a debacle.

Frankly, even if there were video in existance, Paula should have looked at the lawyer deposing her, shook her fist, and proudly and firmly exclaimed, "I did not have use of the n-word."

Seems that's okay.

Waste Management

When they go down our street, they pick and choose what they want to pick up. Leaving yard waste and bulk waste is a joke. They just skipped by three houses on Wednesday.

"RANTERS HAVE POOR math

"RANTERS HAVE POOR math skills."

No, we have perfectly good math skills. And I've been watching. You are implying that we are getting 4 different trucks for garbage, recycle, yard waste, and bulk waste. I have not seen that. I see one truck and it all goes on that one truck. That same truck WAS coming twice a week....now it comes once a week. Their savings is 50%. WE have been robbed.

When you were running all of the routes twice a week for regular garbage pickup, and now you are only running all of the routes once a week for regular garbage pickup, given the cost of fuel and labor that should have resulted in SIGNIFICANT savings and MOST of that savings should have been passed back to the property owners. It was not. It was STOLEN by 6 commissioners, our administrator, and our over zealous garbage dump guru.

As for "20% for cleaner air", there has been NO data presented that this PENALTY will make a dent in the air quality or prevent us from having to have vehicle inspections...especially given the raging crusaders at the EPA and state equivalent. I think a 20% penalty is pretty stiff......of course it's NOTHING compared to what Obama's recent initiative with the war on coal is going to do to our electric bill, which is already proven will have negligible impact on the environment since our cheap energy will simply be burned by other countries now. But YOUR electric bill is going up and by MORE than 20% and the global environmental impact will be ZERO. The only impact will be that governmental THUMP that hits your wallet.........JUST LIKE OUR GARBAGE SERVICE.

I have to give her props for telling the truth..

she could have pulled a "Clinton" and lied about it. IF there is any fact in what the lawsuit alleges - that she did engage in racial behaviors in the running of her restaurants, then she should have to pay the price. I don't think she should be branded with a scarlet letter for admitting she said a racial slur 20 years ago...people on BOTH sides of that fence have done it, and to say otherwise is just false. IF what has been alleged is true, that can't be tolerated. Period.

Anyone with a brainstem knows that when you operate a business - all behaviors of you and your employees have to be above board. Any whiff of impropriety is a potential lawsuit - especially in the racially charged South. It is curious as to why Ms. Jackson chose to work in that environment for 5 years before filing suit...why now? Waiting for Deen's net worth to increase? Pretty strategic, if you ask me!

Yeah - there's more important news out there, but it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Perspective

You need to normalize the area/district crime figures by some criteria (e.g., population, geographic size, economic activity, or something else) in order to make the crime numbers meaningful. Also, wouldn't you need to classify the crimes in some way (major, minor, violent, non-violent, personal, property, felony, misdemeanor)?

Hey Cobalt George

You should probably just go ahead and call the Columbia County Sheriff's Dept. and let them know about the Cgee Shootout. I am sure you have some neighbors who will call them if you don't. Better yet just before you start ask the beat car to come by and shoot! You my friend are a great guy!
