Augusta educator to tackle 106-mile Paddle Georgia event

Ruth Mead, the senior education specialist for the Southeastern Natural Sciences Academy, will participate in the 106-mile Paddle Georgia event June 15-21 on the lower Flint River from Warwick to Bainbridge. 

The weeklong canoe/kayak journey sponsored by Georgia River Network brings together more than 350 people each year from around the world.

In the event’s eight years, organizers have guided more than 2,400 paddlers down more than 800 miles of Georgia rivers, including the Chattahoochee, Etowah, Ocmulgee, upper Flint, Coosawattee-Oostanaula, Broad-Savannah, Oconee and Altamaha.
