A fundraiser fashion show will be held Sunday to benefit Wesley Spires, the 27-year-old brutally beaten on Riverwalk Augusta on May 3.

Kelley Styling and St. Claire Modeling Agency will play host to the event at the Jessye Norman Amphitheater on the riverwalk at Ninth Street from 3 to 5 p.m.

There is no admission fee but donations for Spires are requested.

Spires and Ashley Solesbee were attacked with a metal bat while sitting on a bench on the riverwalk about 11 p.m. Spires suffered a skull fracture and broken hand. Two suspects are in custody.

Richmond County Sheriff’s Lt. Calvin Chew said Tuesday that Spires was still hospitalized in good condition.

Models and vendors interested in participating in the fashion show and local businesses wishing to contribute raffle prizes should contact Lindsey Kelley at (706) 951-1036.

Tickets to a barbecue fundraiser scheduled for Saturday to benefit Spires have sold out, according to the event’s Facebook page.

Another barbecue event is planned June 15 at Greg’s Gas Plus on Highway 25 at Sweetwater Road in North Augusta.
