Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

THE TRUTH “will” come out now about that sneaky, snakey Mark Sanford. He lied until just before the court date to THEN admit he violated the residence of his ex-wife. Then paid only $5,000 in legal fees. He cost the election of the people of S.C. into tricking 54 percent to vote for his lying hide. They need to throw him out and put Colbert in!

RAVES TO THE Georgia Regents University Admissions staff! They are very knowledgeable, understanding and friendly, especially to freshmen who are unfamiliar with the complicated admissions process. They are wonderful and worthy of much praise!!!

I HAVE A BIG RAVE for Commissioner Lockett for directing me to the Augusta Cares to voice my concerns about kids playing basketball in the streets. Not only does this impede the flow of traffic, it’s a safety issue. Also, I work very hard and at night I do not wish to hear a group of teens playing ball at all hours of the night in the middle of the street.

EACH STORE AND place of business needs to train employees to be proactive in theft prevention. Cameras just sit there and do no good if they are not watched or checked. Walmart has greeters but no one who could walk around in an odd pattern around the store so that someone does not have time to pack a suitcase of 13 cell phones?

MS. PICKETT IS right. There has been a loss of campus beauty that has been ignored. The upkeep of some minimal appearance is important to the Summerville neighborhood we live amidst. So if you are going to use other grounds crews, then have them work “some” time at the Summerville campus.

I APPLAUD THE move to cut the threshold for drunken driving to 0.05 blood alcohol level matching what exists in most other countries. Now if we could only come to grips with the epidemic of texting while driving. The frightening statistic is that it makes you 23 times more likely to be involved in a crash if you text while driving. Stop it before it’s too late!

DR. KERMIT GOSNELL and his conviction brings the issue of illegal and unsafe abortions to the forefront. One has to wonder how many more Gosnells are out there practicing freely with a total disregard for life. Isn’t it time that we gave the abortion issue a second look?

A RANT TO A BUNCH OF RATS

To those that are scheming to dump more problems on the South Side.

We have caught wind that there is a plan in the works to replant Cherry Tree or create a new project on Boykin Rd. over here on the South Side.

We understand that this being done quietly and involves a plan to rezone or use property on Boykin Rd. to allow the development of Low income Government assisted housing. AKA a project.

Commissioner Wayne
I know from a short discussion with you today, you were
blind sided as well. Yourself only learning of the plan Friday afternoon.

Please let us know what is going on .
If the AC can't publish the info, don't worry, I have spoken with the AugustaGaPolitics.com staff and they are willing to give you all the space you need to inform us of the plan.

I am sure the Residents of the Boykin Rd. would want to know about anything that would effect their schools, kids, and property values.

0.05 blood alcohol level is

0.05 blood alcohol level is pretty low but given some peoples matching inability to drive even sober maybe a good thing.

Regarding the texting while driving scary to see it in moving traffic.

But to watch a person that can't put it down long enough to turn left in traffic has a barely controllable force whispering "jump out and help them... take the dang things away, save a life.

There are Abortion Doctors and there are murderers.

DR. KERMIT GOSNELL is clearly a murderer.

Planned Parenthood aka Avoided Parenting. now blames the media for the unhealthy clinic that infected patients with used needles and cutting the heads off live 8 month viable late term births and still refuses to except any responsibility.

@ NonNoc

Not doubting the rumor you heard; but how do you have housing project out in the "country"? No public transportation, no grocery stores or other shopping within walking distance. It seems to me they have to keep most of those folks in areas with accessibility to food, medicine, etc.

Some updated info
The Low Income Apartment Project is being called

Augusta Place Apartments.
http://appweb.augustaga.gov/planning_zoning/plazid_display.asp?zID=4455

They are marketing the units at just $100 a month higher than the rent for a Cherry Tree project unit. Still any doubt who they are seeking for tenants?

It is planned for the Boykin Rd. US-25 area were the old Golf Driving Range / Paint course was located. To narrow it down a little, behind and between the Overpass Package store over to Boykin Rd. up near and the ceramics shop.

There are ZERO supermarkets, there are ZERO doctors within 3 miles.

No sidewalks to get to any.

However there is a Funeral House at the bottom of the Gracewood hill just before they would get to Bi-Lo's if they are lucky.

That means the next step is to add a bus service out there.

This means the RC-BOE will have to find room immediately for 250+ families with several kids each. 500 to 750+ new school age kids.

Now think of the areas Elementary schools and High schools.
This means our South Side schools will get a quick massive in flux of students and will become overcrowded. There go our kids into Mobile Homes again.

This means a disciple problem will follow due the overcrowding and turf wars that will start up.

Just asking

Nonoc... The Augusta Chronicle did report on the story already, and made no mention of government assisted housing or the rent being $300 per month.

How much exactly is the rent their marketing? I believe the rent at Cherry Tree might be $200 per month. Did the developer actually receive low income credits? Seems kinda bizarre when the majority of commissioners live south of Gordon Highway. I remember when they made a big deal, and stopped the mixed income community proposed for Deans Bridge near Barton Chapel road.

I see col county doesn't mind saying no

Commish says no to townhomes/apts

Columbia County commissioners Tuesday rejected a developer’s request to turn a failed professional park in Evans into townhomes.

With a unanimous vote, commissioners turned down the rezoning of the site on Furys Ferry Road next to Oakbrook subdivision that would have allowed developer Joe Todd to build 26 townhomes.

“It just doesn’t seem compatible” with neighboring homes, said County Commission Chairman Ron Cross.

Earlier, Oakbrook resident Scott Kirchhoff spoke on behalf of more than a dozen neighbors at the meeting, worrying that the rezoning could hurt their homes’ value and increase traffic problems by forcing more U-turns on divided Furys Ferry Road.

In response to a question from Cross during Todd’s presentation, the developer wouldn’t rule out renting the townhomes. That prompted Kirchhoff to note the potential profit likely would increase the number of rentals, making the project more akin to apartments.

“Apartments definitely hurt home values,” Kirchhoff said.

Mark Sanford must be one heck

Mark Sanford must be one heck of a man if he can trick 54 percent of the people to vote for him and talk about lying....ranter #1 needs to do some reviewing before speaking.

Ranter stated "He lied until just before the court date to THEN admit he violated the residence of his ex-wife.

Untrue:

"Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford said Wednesday he visited his ex-wife's home while she was out of town because he didn't want his 14-year-old son to watch the Super Bowl alone. (NY Post)

"Sanford has said he was at Jenny Sanford's beach house that day to watch the Super Bowl with their youngest son." (USA Today)

"Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford said Wednesday he visited his ex-wife's home while she was out of town because he didn't want his 14-year-old son to watch the Super Bowl alone." (Huffington Post)

I do believe all along Mr. Sanford has been upfront and honest about being in Jenny's home with their son. He never denied it and certainly wasn't sneaky and snakey about it up until the court date. Sounds to me like someone is just made because their man/woman didn't win the election.

Simply put.It was Stanford

Simply put.

It was Stanford, or a Liberal related to an openly Ultra-Liberal.

We have enough fools in office that don't know who did what, how it happened, or if they told higher up's about it?

The country didn't need another liberal with the same selective memory problems.

Face it Obama and his appointed memory loss minions have hosed it for Liberals seeking election for a while.

In a few years the Republicans will screw up and we'll come full circle and resume Liberal/Socialism.

Good questions....
Because certain background info has not been shared "YET" with the general public, I'll have to get back with you once the complete facts (and Politics) are uncovered.

Right now a lot of people on the South Side feel like an slightly open, but still quiet sneak attack has taken place. AGAIN

"Seems kinda bizarre when the

"Seems kinda bizarre when the majority of commissioners live south of Gordon Highway"

What's so bizarre. It simply demonstrates the agreed on plan, the Consolidation and Redevelop Downtown plan, to make South Augusta and Southeast Richmond County the dumping ground for low income, Section 8 housing. The business community has known this for years. That is why they left in droves. That is why Mason and others are pushing for bus lines and 24/7 service out here.....they know the plan.....they know who is moving out our way.

Folks in Southeast Richmond County, if you think the market value (not the bogus TAX value but the actual "what I can sell it for value") of your property went down during the recession, YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET.

What you are seeing now is THE Consolidation Plan come to fruition. The PLANNED destruction of one region of the county through taxation, neglect, and transplant of entire problem neighborhoods to the Southeast end of the county in order to "redevelop" the "old city". West Augusta would not stand for it....the "Hill" area would not stand for it.....even Olde Town would not stand for it.

The fruit of this announcement turns sour as soon as the light of day hits it and the rot it brings continues to spread for decades. The result will be enormous, from the impact on our schools, on crime, to the safety and quality of life to surrounding neighborhoods and businesses.

Thirteen years ago George Patty rezoned 7000 acres in South Richmond County from Agricultural to Residential. His excuse was the "pending explosive growth". As with most government initiated rezoning actions, THAT WAS A BALD FACED LIE. The real anticipation was that as they relocated Section 8, low income, crime prone residents to the Southside as part of their "old city" redevelopment plan, the hard working, taxPAYING residents of the affected areas would MOVE FURTHER SOUTH and occupy those former Agricultural lands in order to flee the crime and pestilence the "City" was going to wreak upon them as part of the Consolidation and "redevelopment" PLAN. They knew their PLAN would destroy property values and that even our crooked TAX people would have to admit it sooner or later. They got a head start by rezoning and increasing the taxes on the vacant, formerly agricultural land and now they are just waiting for US to move south to flee the crime and rot they are bringing upon us.

Welcome to what a CONSOLIDATED government is all about and what the PLAN was the day it was approved. This is what YOUR tax money bought you South Augusta and Southeast Richmond County. This is what you get for your money....this and your 100% overpriced GARBAGE SERVICE and probably a RAIN TAX. Too bad the RAIN can't wash what they are doing to us away in our open, overgrown, sediment filled ditches.

Dichotomy is right. We hear

Dichotomy is right. We hear about the public housing projects being removed from the city and know they have to go somewhere. I was told the other day they have to stay in the county. He's right, the majority of them have to end up in South Augusta. Barbee was telling the truth even though Deke threw him under the bus for uttering the facts.

""Seems kinda bizarre when

""Seems kinda bizarre when the majority of commissioners live south of Gordon Highway"

It's not a question of where they live. It's a question of who is standing behind the curtain pulling their strings. Who has been pulling those strings since Consolidation? And what did all of them, past and present, who have supported this policy get in return. What kind of political support promises were made....Alvin? How much "redevelopment" tax money was promised?

At any rate, I'm waiting to hear countyman's spin on this as a positive for South Augusta. This is a stain that Ajax won't take off. A Five Guys and a Walgreen's won't fix this. In fact, I would not be surprised of Walgreen's stopped construction dead in it's tracks when they see this and the Five Guys vaporware may blow away in the breeze. Though it does explain why countyman keeps informing us of how many B-ball courts the county has built out here. I guess in a year of so countyman will really be able to brag about the downtown crime rate considering the forced resettlement of the problem population to the Southside.

Isn't this the same thing they did to the Cherokees in the 1830's....only by then we will have Alvin and Countyman Bus Line for them so they won't have to walk. The only Trail of Tears on this one will be the tears of the surrounding property owners, taxpayers, and current residents who are the parents of school children whose schools are already bad enough but are fixing to get horrible.

MORE ON THE IRS

BEST QUOTE OF THE DAY BY A IRS DIRECTOR.
Lois Lerner: 'I have not done anything wrong'
minutes later followed by taking the 5th amendment to avoid self incrimination.

"'I will not answer any questions or testify today,' she replied.
Issa then asked if she would answer questions about her previous testimony before Congress.
'I decline to answer that question, for reasons I have already given.'

Lerner was dismissed a second time and left the hearing room with her lawyer, but not before Rep. Issa cautioned that she could be recalled and forced to testify in the future if committee attorneys determined that she had forfeited her Fifth Amendment rights by making an opening statement."
