CAMDEN, S.C. — Authorities say a motorcyclist traveling at speeds of more than 100 mph died in a crash near Camden as he fled Kershaw County deputies.

Kershaw County coroner Johnny Fellers told The State newspaper  that the man killed is 41-year-old Boyd Outlaw, who lived in the Camden area.

Fellers say the motorcyclist was “doing triple digits” when the accident occurred as Outlaw fled authorities.

The S.C. Highway Patrol says Outlaw wasn’t wearing a helmet when his motorcycle stuck a concrete island in the middle of U.S. 1 near a shopping center about 3 a.m. Sunday.

Kershaw Sheriff Jim Matthews said Sunday morning he’s still gathering details on the wreck.

??

I was just wondering what "triple digits" referred too. Fleeing police at over 100 mph on a motorcycle is pretty much guaranteeing an appointment with the medical examiner.

Well...

...I guess I should be sympathetic, but this is just plain dumb. I am sorry this guy caused so much pain to his family and loved ones by this foolish act. Not to mention endangering the lives of innocent people on the path of his escape attempt who could have been harmed or killed.

Careful Dixieman, some people

Careful Dixieman, some people think you can't comment on the obvious in these cases; just blow roses because some friend or family may get their feelings hurt.

I'm sorry too for the loved ones who are now grieving; I don't wish that on anyone. However, this person brought it all on themselves, so what else is there to say?
