The fire, which occurred around 8:30 p.m., killed Eddie James Waltower, 62, and his wife Sarah Waltower, 60.

The house, at 167 Phillips St., Keysville, Ga., was heavily damaged, according to a statement from fire investigators with the state Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office.

“The initial investigation revealed that the fire originated on the rear porch of the residence near a freezer,” Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said. “We have not found anything suspicious about this tragic fire.”

The bodies were sent to the state crime lab for autopsies.

Hudgens said his agency was assisted by Burke County Emergency Management and the Burke County Sheriff’s office. There have been 56 fire fatalities reported in Georgia in 2013, he said in a news release.
