Rants & Raves

AS A COMMUNITY, we should all get together and pray for Georgia Regents University President Ricardo Azziz. Pray that he leaves town.

GEORGE JONES, Vern Gosdin, Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynette and Kitty Wells are all together again harmonizing with Hank Williams and all those who have gone before them.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD murders babies. Self-proclaimed Christian Obama THANKED Planned Parenthood for “the work they do.” Something here doesn’t jibe.

I WAS DOWNTOWN on Broad Street and saw about three city trucks with about four guys standing beside the trucks. I watched them for about an hour. All they did was talk loud; I never saw them do any work. Wow; what a job.

AUGUSTA NATIONAL needs to do something about the obnoxious and rude police officers who are the first to greet the guests arriving at the Masters. They certainly do not project the image that is the pride of the National. Also, with all that land a drop-off and pick-up area needs to be designated; the guests need to feel welcome instead of insulted.

TWO SO-CALLED conservatives, Rep. Jim Jordan and Sen. Rob Portman, pretend to be “deficit hawks,” yet for their state/district, they demand U.S. taxpayers spend nearly half a billion dollars on tanks the Army doesn’t need. These career politicians are not “deficit hawks;” they’re stealing our money. How many Georgia/SC pols play the same sinister games?

LET’S SAY I’M A LOWLY county employee and I have a county vehicle. I use it to run personal errands. There is not saying “excuse me” for me. I’m fired. Azziz deserves no less.

RICHMOND COUNTY health employees: You need to check the dairy products in these convenience stores. They are selling expired dairy products.

OPERATION THUNDER is a blunder and a tax initiative. They seem to focus on hard-working taxpayers going to work, lunch and back home when shootings, burglaries and all the other crimes are occurring in Augusta.

HOW MANY MORE errors in judgment will Azziz need to make before he is terminated. I’m sure everyone would like to know the answer to this one.

What Do You ThinK?

The May issue of an investment advisory letter I subscribe to had an interesting premise. The author says that the most dysfunctional part of the U.S. economy at this time is the labor market. He posted two trend charts:

One was the Labor Force Participation Rate. The peak appears to be around early 2000 with a slow decline; but then the decline becomes precipitous early in 2008 and is still dropping dramatically. At this time, only 63% of all adults in the U.S. are working.

The kicker is the other chart, the Labor Force Participation Rate for Ages 65–69. There, the trend is steadily rising since 1999. Twenty-two percent of seniors were working in 1999; but thirty-two percent of seniors are working today.

Think about it—fewer adults are working, but more senior adults are working. We are witnessing a new idle class of young and middle-age Americans. Here is a quote from the newsletter:

We used to bemoan the fact that fewer and fewer young workers were around to pay for retirees’ Social Security and Medicare. But now we see that the new working class, the tax-paying elderly, is subsidizing the new idle class (those on welfare)! If this trend continues, America is definitely on its way to collapse.

There are plenty of "drop

There are plenty of "drop off" points you can take someone...as long as they are willing to walk a short distance. You can drop them off at any of the shopping centers across Washington Road...that way you can just turn around right in that lot and be on your way. Same for picking them up. It's not that big of a deal.

Regarding OPERATION THUNDER

It is like most Government Projects.

It was started with good intentions, but then gets out of hand after little or no public oversight.

Do I blame any RCSO Deputies. NO
I am pretty sure everyone understands this is a TOP down controlled problem.

BTW: Where is the Citizen Oversight Committee Sheriff spoke of putting in place?

Want to watch a Late Term Abortion video.

Neither do I.

But everyone should see the process interviews and the ways Planned Parenthood and abortion clinic personnel deliberately skirt or uses special "wordings" to get around the Federal Death Factory rules.

See several undercover videos here.
http://www.liveaction.org/inhuman/videos/

Ones logically has to ask.
With FREE Condoms, Morning After pills 15 and up, FREE birth control pills Federal funded IUD's, tubulars, and $1 Pregnancy Test kits at most stores.

WHY do we need to have any legal abortions?
Let a lone abortions out to 8 months?

In one video a woman 23 weeks pregnant and pretending to seek a late-term abortion is told by a clinic staffer that the baby would be immersed in a chemical solution and sent to a lab -- even if it came out moving or breathing.

Now for the Liberal Selling It version.
In this Press Releases the PP whines they need LESS regulation to insure that clinics are cleaner and safer for women?????
Talk about spin.

http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/planned-parenthood-naral-gosnell-proves...

As many have said.
If Abortions are so right, then why don't Liberals use and display children at protests to sell their point?

They use children tug on our soft hearts with just about every other anti-society cause they push on us?

Parting Thought:
Our society euthanizes our animals with more respect.

Camera's downtown!

I understand Mr. Fennoy is calling for camera's downtown and on Riverwalk. Apparently he doesn't understand the light necessary to make sure they get pictures they can use, or the expense of low light camera's so that they won't have to upgrade all the downtown and Riverwalk lighting to look like a football stadium. Next, how many people will it take to monitor those camera's. Who doesn't think it would be less expensive and more productive to put officers on Broad St and Riverwalk from 7 pm till 3 am Thursday through Sunday nights. Before consolidation that's how it was done and there weren't these problems. History, seems full of good ideas!!

How about

the rude, obnoxious golf fans who tie up traffic letting people off at the gate? The deputy's try to keep the traffic flowing and pedestrians safe. Imagine if everyone tried dropping people off. Find something better to complain about.

Rant #5

Once the Berckmans Road re-direction project is completed, you will have less to complain about. That project will eliminate the road in front of the main gate and there will be only pedestrians.

And as far as a designated drop-off / pick-up area; well, there already exists one. It is called National Hills Shopping Center.

"They seem to focus on

"They seem to focus on hard-working taxpayers going to work, lunch and back home when shootings, burglaries and all the other crimes are occurring in Augusta."

Have you ever seen them stop the old, ratty cars speeding, weaving in and out, sliding and gliding in order to pass everything ahead of them? No, they only stop that ones that look like they might have enough money to pay the fine. No profit in stopping people that can't pay the fine. No profit in putting a beat cop walking the Riverwalk to prevent baseball bat attacks on First Friday.

And why do we need these "Operations"? Thunder, Click-it-or-Ticket, HEAT.......Don't you think if the cops would actually enforce all of these laws 24/7/365....ON EVERYONE..... instead of running around in packs and setting up checkpoints a couple of times a year like a bunch of gestapo, that the word would get around.

"Apparently he doesn't

"Apparently he doesn't understand the light necessary to make sure they get pictures they can use, or the expense of low light camera's ..."

Security Cameras have made great advancements in Night Vision over the last 5 years.

Home versions can be purchased for under $199 that can work in ZERO Light out to 150 ft.

Commercial PTZ models (which the Riverwalk would need) run about $1,495 ea. plus mounting and cabling and monitoring. They can zero in on people 200+ yards away IF THERE IS , a clear line of sight.

A quick look at Google "Riverwalk" SAT. photos indicate to cover Access points and then cover key areas and parts from the 5th and Marina area to 10th St. will take about 70-72 IP66+ rated cameras with 700TVL res.

An honest initial ball park install cost is about $2.5 to 3.25million depending on variables.

Then you have to have DVR's and etc... to record the video and store it.
Then you have to have an Command Post to monitor the cameras.
Then you have to have personnel to monitor the cameras.
Then there is maintenance and up keep.
Then a Information / FOIA request officer and more......
So about 8 to 10 staff operate and maintain the system.

Then
keep in mind the trees, the obstacle course of natural rolling and twisting landscape for Riverwalk. These all have to be accounted for and special wiring and housings to prevent theft are needed.

Yes people steal security cameras.

http://www.ezwatch.com/video-samples
Then Checkout the The Ranger PTZ.

NOTE: Riverwalk because of it local, terrain and difficulty or coverage, would likely cost more per Sq/yd to cover than Broad St.

Unemployment

The president is going out on another campaign swing later this week to gin up media stories about raising the minimum wage. Study after study after study have shown that raising the minimum wage raises the unemployment rate for low-skilled workers. We don't need that.

Masters

I don't see why folks can't just drive up Magnolia Lane, drop off their passengers and then swing around the Flag pole and head back down Magnolia. I mean, really, what could go wrong? Think I will send in the suggestion.

RE-Worded Health Dept Inspection request

Would the next time any ARC Health Dept inspector happens to be in stores that sell food products near US-25 and Lumpkin Rd.
Casually inspect some of the "Best By" dates.

My earlier comments was rightfully flagged for listing the name of the store. But saying it this way covers enough general area I hope to be ok?

While inspecting please keep in mind it is:
May 2013,
not
Jan, Feb, March 2013
or
anything 2011 or 2012.

nocnoc, might be rightfully flagged but I'm glad I got to read it before it was pulled. I'll be more careful buying food products from this location from now on.

Countyman

I don't ever recall anything like this in Columbia or Aiken Counties.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bw0COQFO47YXRmRiQUNvSUZuMW8/preview?pli=1

Bad language at the very end for those who may be offended.

And I have to wonder how many police were snagging people at checkpoints while this was going on under their noses downtown.

Sorry about the dead link

By now everyone probably knows or saw the video about the melee, ending with gunshots; downtown, on April 27.
