Rants & Raves

I AM 82 and in a wheelchair. It is very difficult for me to get to a doctor unless they can assist me to my doctor’s office. The courtesy workers at MCG can no longer come out to the parking deck and get patients. I wish Dr. Azziz had never come to Georgia.

THE MOST HATED man in Augusta and you print his address in the paper. Really?

RAVE TO THE guy who pointed out the food stamp recipients had a brand new pickup truck. I didn’t know you could make truck payments with food stamps. I’m going down to get one today. I need it.

WHY IS THE community trying to help Fort Gordon? To my knowledge, Fort Gordon hasn’t done anything to help the average person on the street. They didn’t help the people in Harrisburg. As far as I’m concerned, they could close the fort down and get rid of it. They stole the land for it from the people of Pinetucky.

THIS IS A LOUD RAVE for the person who lives on Walton Way Extension who flies that beautiful multicolored flag from his front stoop. Although this seems to be merely the banner of a social or political organization, it certainly does provide a welcome bit of springtime color to a dreary area of our town. Kudos also!

BOTH BOSTON SUSPECTS, Hugo Chavez, Raul and Fidel Castro, Vladimir Putin, Iran’s Ahmadinejad have one thing in common: They all endorsed and supported Obama for president !

OK, NOW THE TRUTH is out concerning Mark Sanford’s visit to his ex-wife’s home, also the home of his youngest son. All the news reports did their best/worst to portray him as a “peeping Tom” or some other type of pervert. He simply brought home his son, and by that son’s request stayed to watch the remainder of the game. Jenny Sanford wasn’t there, so what’s the issue? God forbid that Mark actually honors a request from his youngest son! This truly stinks of a carefully calculated attack against his campaign. I’m now wondering when she actually filed her complaint against him, before or after he won the runoff election? This fails the smell test!

OBAMA IS FINALLY traveling to Texas to honor those killed in the blast in West. I’m wondering if it took him so long because he had to negotiate with the Republic of Texas for a visa.

Not too many commented on this yesterday

The May issue of an investment advisory letter I subscribe to had an interesting premise. The author says that the most dysfunctional part of the U.S. economy at this time is the labor market. He posted two trend charts:

One was the Labor Force Participation Rate. The peak appears to be around early 2000 with a slow decline; but then the decline becomes precipitous early in 2008 and is still dropping dramatically. At this time, only 63% of all adults in the U.S. are working.

The kicker is the other chart, the Labor Force Participation Rate for Ages 65–69. There, the trend is steadily rising since 1999. Twenty-two percent of seniors were working in 1999; but thirty-two percent of seniors are working today.

Think about it—fewer adults are working, but more senior adults are working. We are witnessing a new idle class of young and middle-age Americans. Here is a quote from the newsletter:

We used to bemoan the fact that fewer and fewer young workers were around to pay for retirees’ Social Security and Medicare. But now we see that the new working class, the tax-paying elderly, is subsidizing the new idle class (those on welfare)! If this trend continues, America is definitely on its way to collapse.

So, I guess they will not comment on it today, either - - - - -

Are you asking that the military send armed patrols to Harrisburg or what?

You might want to think about the fact that you are posting in English, not German or Japanese.

Some rants are not worth answering because they are so out of touch. The one about the fort today takes the cake.

I read that article yesterday....& I agree it is newsworthy to try again...we do have a younger class of folks who think working isn't necessary.....as long as we feed--clothe--& house them ...hey ...why would they change...
Just like we give bennies to newcomers coming here....hey..(I'm Si Duckman today) they can use the bennies for pressure cookers & bbs to kill us....in other words ...we have lost our ever loving MIND..

Hey....good morning..

countyman ...you can't sugar coat the baseball beating

Please don't try.....

An innocent couple was sitting on the bench at Riverwalk...minding their own business....maybe even in love (who knows) along comes a spider of sorts & takes the moment away.....who knows how severe.....but getting hit with a baseball bat in he face & head is the type crime that RUNS FOLKS AWAY....just like others say on here....I will have a gun if I need to be in downtown Augusta..

RANT to the DHSI see they

RANT to the DHS
I see they are looking to purchase more ammo.

https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&tab=core&id=bfd4278417...

Why does DHS need so much CIVILIAN CALIBER Ammo?

The Fed's already has, by their own admission,
12+ years of stock pile for internal use?

This isn't DOD ammo they are buying.

Look on the bright side they are not purchasing 22cal this time around.

LLamb about this quote

Think about it—fewer adults are working, but more senior adults are working. We are witnessing a new idle class of young and middle-age Americans

Because we feel taking welfare should be the last resort...we were raised that way.....now some feel they are entitled to it & want more-more......& even make babies for more.....so let us look in the mirror & say to ourselves...How stupid can we be....we will have to jerk the freebies away & it doesn't matter how painful it will be.

RAVE to Israel for Targeting

RAVE to Israel for Targeting Iranian Missiles in Syria.

Israel like many of us figured out that OBAMA's red line and game changer quotes mean nothing.

So they are acting to protect themselves.
Many felt Obama was stalling hoping nothing would happen until after re-election.

Just like the documented lies that were told about Benghazi 9-11 attacks, that are finally coming out.

OK, NOW THE TRUTH is out concerning Mark Sanford’s visit to his ex-wife’s home, also the home of his youngest son

Lots of politicians have

Lots of politicians have divorced their wives or husbands without any effect on their careers. They would lie or stonewall about the whole matter. Sanford was just so dang open. He is a different sort. He will talk for 20 minutes to ANYONE who says hello to him.

Too dang open imo

Look at this from her point of view...

After birthing 5 sons for this man....he ups & announces he is in love with his "soulmate".....wish he could have spoken up....say...after the first 2 kids....& by golly they look just like him....sooo don't think he had any help with THAT!
He might just find out one day that you can have more than just 1 soulmate.....ya never know...everything can get old so time will tell.

SeenitB4, I see your point

SeenitB4, I see your point but you stated she birthed 5 sons for the man....were they not for her also? Maybe he would have been fine with just two children but she was the one who wanted more. Of course I suppose if he didn't want that many children he could have been the one to prevent it. Either way, I agree....he should have kept the "soul mate" comment to himself.

"As far as I’m concerned,

"As far as I’m concerned, they could close the fort down and get rid of it."

If you compare the contribution to the tax base vs. the police, crime, and welfare burden on the taxpayer, as far as I'm concerned we can get rid of Harrisburg.

"We are witnessing a new idle class of young and middle-age Americans."

Yep, the voted for CHANGE and WE got it. The young folks that keep hollering about the wealth disparity ain't quite figured out that you have to actually work to accumulate any wealth. The government ain't going to give you WEALTH....just subsistence slavery. And ooohhweee I hope I will be able to look down and see the mayhem and chaos when those elderly folks pass on and are no longer around to foot the bills. Old folks, spend all of your money before you go and enjoy yourselves. The younger generation are not deserving of any of it. Even if you have a good kid to leave it to the government is just going to take it and give it to the bums.

"Hugo Chavez, Raul and Fidel Castro, Vladimir Putin, Iran’s Ahmadinejad have one thing in common: They all endorsed and supported Obama for president !"

Can you blame them. After all they all hate American and Obama has cost us more money and done more damage to our society and our financial solvency in 4 1/2 years than some of them have been able to do in 50 years.

"When Israel says don't cross the line they mean it."

Yep....love them or hate them, you have to admire the fact that when they say something they mean it.....unlike our current mealy mush mouthed leadership. America's word is just like our currency. It's not worth the paper it's printed on, or in Obama's case, the electrons it takes to run across a teleprompter. When Obama threatens Syria, North Korea, or Iran I think they run his speech on TV in the late night timeslots in place of late night comedians. If Israel threatens you, you had better start digging a foxhole.

Of course it takes 2 to tango

It just takes a LOT of time & work to birth those babies...

This kinda reminds me of the 2 Drs ...somewhere out west..I think...she found her husband in a hotel lobby with one of the workers in their office (they both worked in office together)...she had him watched & the guy told her where to find him....wrong thing to do....

When the man walked out of the hotel & into the parking lot the wife ran over him a few times...backed up & kept running over him....she killed him........of course she pled insanity......but that is what I am saying...the emotions are so high----so insane at that moment---anything can happen....look at the trial going on right now on tv...killed him because he was going on vacation with another woman (they say)

Say What You Mean...

....And mean what you say.

Don't get mad, get even.

Cliches, for sure, but a pretty fair summary of Israel's foreign policy. They know what has happened to Jews throughout history. Their most recent reminder was in Hitler's death camps. They have sworn to never let it happen again. They mean it.

It's a pretty simple and straightforward way of letting people know what to expect. They don't pussyfoot. They don't threaten. They don't bluster. They don't whine and wail when they're wronged. They just look their enemy straight in the eye with their steely-eyed stare and then smack him down with both barrels., often with a smile on their faces. They don't brag. They go on about their business in their steady, restrained, but ready and alert manner we've now come to expect.

The United States' weak leadership and foreign policy is currently the biggest threat to Israel's survival. They don't believe we have their backs. They question our motives, our word, and our resolve.

I don't blame them.

Seenitb4. Are you telling me

Seenitb4. Are you telling me crime doesn't happen in overall safe areas. I live downtown, and wouldn't live here unless it was safe. How is saying downtown is safe considered sugar coating?

Do you need a gun in Aiken? Two cops were killed, and another was injured in a matter of months...

Do you need a gun while in Evans/Martinez? The Rhineharts, Circle K, Sprint, etc were all robbed recently.

How did the killing of two cops not run people from Aiken? Why do people always want to single out Augusta?

Do these people realize if Augusta fails, then so does the CSRA. Over 40k people communte from the surrounding counties into Augusta for employment.

The beating at Riverwalk was horrific

The nature of the crime was heart wrenching...I think we all can relate at some time just sitting on a bench with a love one .....never imagine a stranger approaching us with a bat to do harm....we have to admit that we do live in a different time.....& deal with it as we see fit....if that means you need to carry a gun...well so be it.
I have never said this area is crime free.....never.

I suppose it's just not possible that perhaps these people were doing good when they bought that truck in that possibly one or both of the moneymaking adults in the house got laid off or something.

No, no. They're all evil freeloaders. Right.

From Wikipedia:

"Fort Gordon has approximately 30,000 military and civilian employees and currently has an estimated $1.1 billion economic impact on the Augusta-Richmond County economy."

Yep, this area could absorb that billion dollar loss, right? Those thousands of civilians could just bop right on down to the next job fair and get right back among the working.... Like RM said, some rants don't even deserve comment, but there is an outside chance this person might see the light.

Close Ft. Gordon NO!But

Close Ft. Gordon NO!

But reduce the size and return the southern half to Richmond Co. or make it a GA State Park with a lake like Old Union Mill and others. YES.

This suggestion does not impact training, Fed or DOD jobs in anyway.

Study a Google map, see how having a highway short cut to I-20 restart the area and add to its growth or jobs.

When CAMP Gordon was started about 100 years ago, it was an Artillery, Infantry Base. Sgt York even trained here. After WWI it became a Armor (tanks) artillery base. The immense amount of Land grab was needed for safety reasons years ago. But now that Camp Gordon has become Fort Gordon and a Signal base/electronic training base and everything south of Rang Rd has become unnecessary.

Why not re-establish the 221-47 Harlem paved road link to Blythe?
I know in the 70's, IT WAS THERE, because I sure ran the dirt road from 221 to US1/GA88 more than a few times. ☺
