According to an incident report from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, a dark-skinned black man attempted to climb through the unlocked window of a rear bedroom in the 2000 block of First Ave. about 6:35 a.m. Sunday.

The break-in awoke the girl, who began to scream. Her mother ran to the room, saying she had a gun, and the burglar fled.

Sheriff’s deputies found no signs of forced entry, fingerprints or footprints.

Gun Warning to Burglar Saves Teen & Family.

IF the burglary story is true (some doubts it appears),
the AC article just told the Burglar the family likely does not have a gun.

If it was her screams that alerted mom,

what other reason might she have screamed than being afraid of, ie, an intruder?

Old, as in ex or

old as opposed to young, or as in "now wife"?

This sounds interesting, Dixieman.

To Fiat_Lux

"old" as in "back in the old days when Dixieman could still climb up that ladder to her second story bedroom in her parents' house" in about...1966. And she was only a quarterfinalist in my wife search.
