Rants & Raves

RAVE TO THE director of Bush Field and his staff for having live entertainment for travelers. Having traveled extensively over the years, it was a breath of fresh air to hear a live band at an airport. The band was well received as evidenced by the many positive remarks. Hopefully, this will become a Masters tradition.

THE BEST WAY TO handle North Korea is to sell Japan four or five of our decommissioned aircraft carriers and several hundred retired F-14s. I’m sure the Japanese Navy will take care of business and we can bring our military home. Time to put America first and stop policing the world.

I DON’T CLAIM TO be a Democrat or Republican. I wish we could do away with all parties. A rant the other day blamed Republicans for Social Security ills. Please check the history on detrimental changes Social Security recipients have been faced with and you will see that Democrats were responsible.

TO THE GENTLEMAN at Burger King who had his classic car hit, raves to you for showing such great restraint around those kids that were outside. I would have lost it.

TO THE LOW-LIFE(S) WHO stole over 200 pounds of aluminum cans from the storage cart on Reynolds Industrial Road. You stole from 10- and 11-year-old children who had worked hard all year toward winning a national recycling competition. If you made the effort to work as hard as they have, you would not need to steal!

RAVE FOR THE editorial (April 14) about government gone wrong. We must find people willing to run for elected office that are willing to serve only one term, and vote out all the people that are in office to line their own pockets.

TO THE RANTER complaining About Republicans not being able to balance a budget in 10 years, consider this: the Democratically controlled Senate hasn’t produced a budget in four years. Please look at all of Obama’s buddies who are wealthy who have made money off Obama’s green energy BS!

TO THE POPULAR restaurant on Washington Road that was blaring the rap song with the lyrics called “my neck my back...”: Are you trying to run off decent customers and families with children? Playing that kind of filth is unacceptable and was especially in poor taste with our Masters guests in town.

Signs and "Discovery" on the Canal

"The Augusta Canal Discovery Center will be the new name for the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area's visitor center at Enterprise Mill, canal officials announced today. Canal officials unveiled the Discovery Center's name on a new sign, the first of many that will be installed along the length of the canal as part of a comprehensive signage program, Sherrouse said."

I wouldn't be using the word "Discovery" after the Fort Discovery fiasco. In addition, I wonder if they ever heard the term "sign pollution" as they brag about all their new signage?

Here Is One Reason For Not Wanted Background Checks.

NY Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Machiavellian Plot to ignore and subvert the Rights of potentially millions of NY State residents developed another layer late Sunday.

After breaking the story of Amhurst NY Area Resident David Lewis having his lawfully purchase and legally owned firearms confiscated by order of the State Police after a flagrantly illegal and Un-Constitutional review of his medical records , Word came to me in my capacity as in journalist late Sunday that NY Officials have apparently doubled down on their sinister plot and blatant abuse of power.

My sources revealed that two prominent and well regarded Buffalo Area Psychiatrists received subpoenas from State Officials, possibly on Friday April 12th 2013, commanding them to turn over all of their patient files to the State. Details are sketchy at this early stage, but I have been told that both Doctors have in house counsel as well as potentially consulting with the Law Firm of Jim Tresmond, Firearms Law Specialist and the Attorney of Record for Mr Lewis.

What is clear is that those subpoenas would have to have been issued by someone in the State’s Attorney’s Office. What remains unknown at this point is whether the order or request for the subpoenas originated with the Superintendent of the NY State Police, Joseph D’Amico or from the Office of the the Commissioner of the NY State Division of Criminal Justice Services or one of his lieutenants.

If it’s accurate that the subpoenas in question were received by their targets on Friday April 12th 2013. That would be the same day that WBEN Talk Radio Show host Tom Baurele told listeners that multiple independent sources within NY State Government related to him that a secret seven member”HIPAA” committee had been created within the Div Of Criminal Justice Services after passage of the NY SAFE Act to work in conjunction with the NY State Police at the behest of the Dept of Homeland Security; for the express purpose of illegally obtaining and accessing the private medical records of potentially millions of NY State Residents.

TSPLOST

Hey, CG, I know you don't comment on local Augusta issues because you live outside Richmond County. That's fine. But you might want to go read and comment on the TSPLOST article because Columbia Countians are paying the extra penny sales tax, too (as are the Lincoln Countians).

Here is the link to the TSPLOST story.

KSL and others, "House Music"

Hahaha...yeah, I had to look up what was popular with young people these days because I didn't buy Countyman's assertion about hip hop either. House music is that drum dominated sound that kind of reminds me of disco. They even use automatic drums. Heh. Google it on YouTube.

Pollution

Augusta is the poster child for light pollution, sign pollution, government pollution (nepotism, cronyism, corruption, conflict of interest), and consultant study (public/private partnership) pollution.

Little Lamb.... Do you really believe the majority of people under 30 are listening to Lady Antebellum compared to hip hop?

Belief

It doesn't matter what I believe. I merely asked you for a link to the web site where you got your survey results that a majority of people under 30 listen to hip hop. Remember there are a lot of people under 30 who listen to no music at all if they can help it.

I just looked at the top ten

I just looked at the top ten songs on the Billboard 100..

Two songs from Macklemore(rapper), Rhianna(R&B), two songs from Justin Timberlake(pop/R&B)and one of them is featuring Jay Z(rapper), Pitbull(rapper), and Drake(rapper)...

Let's not forget hip hop acts like Chris Brown, Rhianna, Drake, etc are considered 'pop' artist sometimes.

2012 Completed flights
Delta 100%
ASA 100%
US Air 96.95

Here's hoping

Hope Rhianna's songs were not listed higher than Chris Brown's. He might beat the stew out of her again. Then Drake will come to the rescue and all heck will break loose.

Billboard top ten is only the top ten of those who listen to any music at all. And it doesn't take age into account, just popularity of radio play. So LL's challenge still stands.

"In Boston, 17,000 fans....

Does anybody else find it ironic (and instructive) that when things are really tough and scarey, even liberals turn to God, family, and Country?
