Fort Gordon's Spring Fest begins Thursday

Fort Gordon today will kick off its annual four-day Spring Fest, held in conjunction this year with a celebration in honor of the Month of the Military Child.

Spring Fest 2013 will take place through Sunday at Barton Field, beginning at 4 p.m. today with a carnival, displays and music.

On Saturday, the Director­ate of Family, Morale, Welf­are and Recreation and the Fort Gordon Spouses and Civil­ians Club will hold the Spring Flea Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Fort Gordon’s Better Opportunities for Single Ser­vice Members Program will have a car, truck and bike show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the corner of Barnes Avenue and Rice Road.

Also on Saturday, Child, Youth and School Services will hold the Month of the Military Child Celebration. The opening ceremony is at 9:45 a.m. at the Barton Field Outdoor Theater. There will be a children’s carnival, a child identification kits booth and military police dog demonstrations.

Flea Market...

I hope it is not as hard to get in as it was last year!! Wait in line for an hour and a half to get in the gate; for the police to check every persons license and registration. I did not have a proplem with them doing that but... if they are going to, they need to do it all gates so traffic is not so backed up!

Rockymissy1, I understand how you feel about waiting in line, but for the safety of all there should only be the main gate. Its sad to say that we have some Americans who are very hostle, so search away MP's.
