Augusta police are searching for a man who – in about 10 minutes Wednesday afternoon – broke into two neighboring houses on Shelby Drive, fleeing from both homeonwers and punching one in the face.

The suspect was described as a white man, 5 feet, 11 inches tall and about 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt, dark colored pants and gloves, a black hat and red shoes, according to an incident report from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

The burglar first pried open the front bedroom window of 2961 Shelby Drive about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, while the homeowner was inside.

When the homeowner saw him, the burglar jumped out the window and ran next door, to 2963 Shelby Drive, where he broke in and scuffled with its resident.

Nothing was stolen from either home. The homeowner at 2963 Shelby Drive was punched in the left eye and treated by a paramedic.

The suspect got away but no one noticed which way he ran.

gun control

this why we don't need gun control so people in these homes could have guns to protect themself let them come to my house i have an alarm system + there no way i am going to let someone in my house and hurt me and take what i worked so hard for.they need to go to work and stop stealing from other people they had rather just stand on street corners and talk on telephone than work then when they want something they try to take from other people i am so tired of hearing about these people stealing from other people and older people sure don't ned this

How dumb do they come? I

How dumb do they come?

I remember when Charlie W. ran the areas local Fido BBS 360/1 and he lived on that street.

That is the early days of social media for you Facebook kiddies.

The area sure has changed since the County helped save Augusta with Consolidation.

Lumpkin Rd area

GEEZ...what a difference the years have made in this part of town....I hate the change......too bad the homeowners didn't give him something ajax couldn't wipe off.....the very reason we need our own protection.....a baseball bat won't always do the job.

Drug Mecca

That's right next to Augusta Tech. That is a known drug area since the '70s. We thought the crime had been addressed and lived in the other neighborhood behind it for a few years, but it became downright frightening and we had to finally concede that my little friend from the 60's parents were right when they moved from Shelby Court out to Evans in the late 80's, that the area, despite the country club atmosphere of the neighborhood we lived in behind Shelby Drive, is in decline. They had told us we just didn't understand what was about to happen to Augusta, but it had happened where they fled from in New Jersey. They were right, we couldn't possibly have foreseen what was going to happen to Augusta. Still praying and working for things to turn around.

JENNPAT - I agree with everything

you said, (I think) but it's difficult to be certain.

All that in one paragraph and without punctuation. Could you work on that, please?

BTW - You do know you don't need a permit to keep a weapon in your home don't you? ...At least you don't for now.

Can't say what might happen if the Dems get their way with their never ending efforts at gun bans and control.

Is there a prize for most homes

invaded in a given period of time? If so, then maybe that's what this guy is up to. Maybe he's not really interested in loot.
