SRS workers hailed as heroes at Red Cross event

Two Savannah River Remediation employees were honored recently by the American Red Cross for saving the life of a colleague who collapsed with a heart attack in a remote section of Savannah River Site.

Mike Davis, senior technical support specialist, and tank farm plant engineering manager Gary Cauthen, used cardiopulmonary resuscitation to restore breathing to their fellow employee as paramedics rushed to the H Tank Farm Complex within the site.

The unconscious worker survived, thanks to the rapid response by the workers, whose annual training includes CPR.

Their efforts were recognized at the Aiken County American Red Cross “Heroes Banquet” held last Thursday.
