DON’T LIKE AGGRESSIVE drivers? Then get out of my way!

ATTENTION, ANYONE planning on committing murder in Georgia or South Carolina: Maryland has just abolished its death penalty. Please commit your crime there.

MANY PEOPLE ARE very concerned with animal rescue, and lots of people are doing lots of work to improve conditions for animals in the Augusta area. When a rescue organization is licensed by the state, however, it must follow specific rules and regulations that truly benefit the animals.

AUGUSTA-RICHMOND County will improve only when we change the way it is run. All of the Augusta Commission should be “at large” instead of representative of individual parts of Augusta. They must commit to working to improve all of Augusta, not pit one area against the other.

I’M PROUD TO BE A Southern, straight, legal, working American! That just about covers it.

WHOEVER HIRED Ricardo Azziz should buy out his contract and send him wherever he wants to go so MCG doesn’t get damaged anymore.

TO WHOEVER PAID MY family’s bill at the Chop House, thank you so much! None of us saw who you were, so we very might well know you. But either way, your act was beyond an act of kindness. It really made my mother’s birthday special. We will, of course, pay it forward!

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE explain the purpose of building fancy houses in the poor Laney-Walker neighborhood, like the Pine Street area? How many of those houses are really being lived in now? If those $110,000-plus houses can be bought by poor families, exactly who had to pay all that money? I sure hope the new Twiggs Street area will be developed with more affordable and smaller selections possible.

RANT FOR THE NEW parking deck in downtown Augusta. It has the worst design for flow of vehicles I’ve ever experienced and is an embarrassment to the idea of efficient infrastructure.

WHILE VISITING IN THE community of Evans, my truck was hit. The person was kind enough to leave a note and phone number. However, it does no good if you don’t return my calls. You know who you are. If you can live with this, so can I. It will hurt you more than me.

Just in cased you missed it.

Information on the 'Mills Campus' and 'Downtown Cultural Campus'... Many people didn't get the chance to view the entire proposal. The most interesting is the 'Downtown Cultural Campus' site plan.

http://aug-cdn.com/sites/default/files/Mills%20Proposal.pdf

1. A Civic Park is proposed for the GGHF site(depending on North Augusta)... The location is next to the Riverwalk, and the Falls Park in Greenville attracts tons of people.
http://www.fallspark.com/
2. The performing arts center(city undergoing $100 million arts campaign) is on the former Watermark site.
3. The mentioning of Artspace(renovated building more than likely), and the Nederlander organization under the Performing Arts Center investments.
http://www.artspace.org/
http://www.nederlander.com/

The Artspace project can offer space for musicians, painters, ballet dancers, mixed media, photographers, etc. The performing arts center, Artspace building, Imperial/Miller theatres, Artist Row, and the Westobou/Arts in the Heart festivals working together will drastically change the local arts community.

Click on third interview(Wendy Holmes) to hear the Artspace interview(6:35).

Augusta moving up the ladder

#8.. Gentrification(millions added to the local tax base so far). The homes being purchased over $100,000 aren't from poor families.

#9. The mayor of Charleston said it's one of the best looking parking decks he's ever seen.

"...Southern, straight, legal, working American!..."

Congratulations. Welcome aboard. Your're officially a member of the only minority it is legal --and in some places mandatory-- to be discriminated against and offended with impunity. Usually by the same people who get a full frontal panty wedgie screaming for us to judge them as individuals, not by race or gender.

Charleston Mayor Joe Riley

Interesting that Charleston Mayor Joe Riley, during his visit, found the parking deck to compliment. He really is a nice guy. He also found the Richmond County dump to be superior to his Bees Ferry, Charleston County, dump. A great Mayor.

Ranter #9

Ranter #9 spoke about how the interior design of the parking deck is inefficient for traffic flow. Then Countyman changed the subject and spoke about the appearance of its exterior. That reminds me of Fred (What, me worry?) Russell — a person interested in only the exterior, the appearance, the fleeting, the unimportant. The nuts and bolts of running a city, of making it efficient, of serving the people are foreign to Russell. The people are mere nuisances to him, easily ignored.

“What, me worry?” he asks.

I parked in the parking deck...

On St. Patrick's Day...pathetic...took a hour to get out....mostly because people will not let you out and the slowness of paying to leave..next time I will park farther away and walk. I need the exercise anyway. The only thing that was good about it was it was a lower price than I expected.

Good Morning "ONLY IN" America.

Another member of Bill Ayers organization, wonder how much the Hammer & Sickle Man had to do with this;

Weather Underground Convicted Killer Now Columbia Adjunct Professor
Posted by National Director, Dee on April 3, 2013 at 4:39am in Tea Party

Former Weather Underground radical Kathy Boudin — who spent 22 years in prison for an armored-car robbery that killed two cops and a Brinks guard — now holds a prestigious adjunct professorship at Columbia University’s School of Social Work, The Post has learned.

Boudin, 69, this year won another academic laurel — being named the Sheinberg Scholar-in-Residence at NYU Law School, where last month she gave a lecture on “the politics of parole and re-entry.”

Boudin’s bounce-back into respectability after her 2003 parole comes to light a week before the release of Robert Redford’s movie “The Company You Keep,” loosely based on the $1.6 million heist.

Boudin’s status of perp-turned-prof outraged the widow of one of her victims, Brinks guard and dad of three Peter Paige, who was gunned down by her accomplices from the Black Liberation Army on Oct. 20, 1981, in Rockland County.

Long, Well Written, My Feelings.

Should get at least 2 downers.

As we all know, the United Nations has become nothing but a global cesspool for empowering societal decadence and Big Government. Sadly, this once heralded organization has forsaken its founding mission of fostering good will and working without prejudice to avoid/address the ravages of global catastrophes such as war, famine, and disease, by incessantly scheming to implement unilateralism under a disingenuous banner of democracy, peace and prosperity. Backed by our enemies, including those in the White House, it has become obvious the UN will stop at nothing to impose their failed socialist agenda: redistribute wealth, institute environmental extremism via Global Warming legislation, support abortion and Gay Marriage, restrict your natural, God-given rights…i.e., the right to bear arms…and conspire to condemn and reduce the influence of Christianity in favor of radical Islam and/or glorified secularism.

In light of the United Nations unapologetic power grab, urge your state representatives, like those in Kentucky and Oklahoma, to pass legislation that unconditionally disregard and nullify any potential UN regulations that attempt to supersede our laws. We are an independent nation – a constitutional republic – with sovereign states that are above the subversive propaganda and doctrine of the United Nations; a "New World Order" axis that now seeks to usurp our liberties, to undermine our Judeo-Christian values, and to reduce the influence of the United States by dismantling capitalism in favor of centralized government and systematic dependence. Every timeless ideal that made America the most powerful, affluent and revered nation on Earth – God, liberty, capitalism, hard work, accountability, self reliance, duty – is now in direct conflict with the United Nations Coup d’etat. They do not speak for our people, they do represent our interests, and they sure as hell have no business telling America what to do amidst the European carnage of their own soulless, idle, bankrupt ideology. Freedom needs no master, virtue has no vice and work seeks no excuse! That was the promise of our forefathers.

Any leader, party, or organization that steals the bread from the mouth of labor, consciously panders to immoral indifference for political power, and seeks to incite fear and rage rather than stoke the fires of freedom and reason, is inherently an enemy of decency, liberty, and democracy. When did sunshine become interchangeable with subjugation?

They have a nerve ..water down Bud Lite

The maker of Budweiser is attempting to silence a former employee for speaking out in defense of consumers, according to the ex-worker's lawyer.

James Clark, a former director of operations and support for Budweiser-parent Anheuser-Busch, blew the whistle on his former employer in February by providing information for a class-action lawsuit claiming that the company was watering down some of its beer.

More important things to worry about now than r/rs...they are watering down my beer...yikes...the last time we went to the Mexican restaurant I said to GOB that the beer was like water....well now I know why...

Parking Deck

I haven't parked in the deck, but I have walked through a couple of times. I can definitely imagine that the single exit with the parking attendant could be a choke point. Only one vehicle can exit at a time. Now imagine this scenario. You want to exit the parking deck and go to Reynolds Street. That means after you pay the attendant you want to turn left out of the deck onto Ninth Street (or is it 8th?). One problem: the traffic light is red for Ninth Street, green for Reynolds Street. Two cars are backed up at the light and you have to wait for the light to change before you can exit. That backs up cars in the deck who can't even pay the attendant because people can't get out until the light changes.

The courteous solution would be for everyone to exit the parking deck by turning right onto Ninth (or 8th?) Street. But Augusta drivers are not known to be either courteous nor bright.

"...The courteous solution would be ..."

Though I agree to your solution LL, any COMPETENTLY designed facility would not have to rely on goodwill.

But the deck is shore purty on the outside. Isn't that what counts?

Parking Deck.

A parking deck with one exit is a disaster when used for events where everyone leaves at the same time. Bad design for a convention, exhibition center. Kind of like a courthouse with no parking lot. Or the new tag office with a tight parking lot. More Augusta projects built for eyewash, not functionality....not to improve service to the public. Kind of like building the fancy new homes in the Laney-Walker area. Just because the "city" is spending OUR money to do "things" doesn't mean they are doing SMART "things". Eyewash is NOT progress......if you don't believe me just look at the current state of the Riverwalk.

According to the 2010 Census
Unpublished

According to the 2010 Census the racial makeup of the Augusta/Richmond County area was 54.7% Black or African American, 39.1% White. Can someone explain why EVERY affirmative action policy in this same area still gives preference or "protection" to Blacks?

edit
--Interesting. I asked a simple question...provided factual statistics, and someone felt my post needed a thumbs down. My new challenge is for the person giving the "thumbs down" to have the courage to explain why.

Gentrification of Laney Walker

My son's friend moved into a new house about 2 blocks west of Turner Field. Everything she had outside of the house that wasn't nailed down got stolen in a matter of weeks. She eventually invested in a fence with an automatic gate at the driveway, security lighting, and reinforced doors. No furniture on the front porch.
