The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory through 8 p.m. for most of the state, including Augusta.

It covers several cities, from Calhoun, Rome and Dahlonega in the north to Americus, Dublin and Vidalia in the south. The advisory also includes most of the state’s major cities such as Atlanta, Athens, Columbus, Gainesville and Macon.

Winds from the west are expected between 25-30 mph, with gusts up to 40.

Forecasters say the high winds could make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

A freeze watch goes into effect this evening through Tuesday morning with overnight lows around 34 degrees. Meteorologists predicted low temperatures in the low-30s each night through Wednesday. Low temperatures will climb slightly higher Thursday evening to the mid- to upper- 30s.

You know what really bugs me? It's that newscaster on Georgia Public Broadcasting telling me to wear a jacket when leaving home in the morning. Hey, you're not my nanny, dude. Just tell me what the temperature is and what it's expected to be, and let me decide about the coat.
