Martin L. King Jr. Freedom Fund Banquet scheduled for April 5

The Rev. William Barber II will be keynote speaker at the 39th annual Martin L. King Jr. Freedom Fund Banquet, sponsored by the Augusta branch of the NAACP.

The banquet will be April 5 at the Gordon Conference and Catering Club, formerly the Gordon Club, at Fort Gordon. A meet-and-greet reception will be at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7.

Barber is the president of the North Carolina State Conference of the NAACP, the chairman of the NAACP National Political Action Committee, a member of the national board of directors and the pastor of Greenleaf Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Goldsboro, N.C.

Tickets cost $50.
