I THINK Richard Roundtree is doing a great job. I am glad he is an African-American man. Maybe this will open the eyes of the black community. A couple of hundred arrests, they can’t be doing wrong. They are focusing on where the lawbreakers are. Thanks again, Sheriff Roundtree. Keep up the good work.

WHEN IS THE FCC or the ICC going to put some sort of regulatory device on televisions to get them to level out the volume between channels and commercials and regular broadcasting? When are they going to get the message?

LANEY HIGH HAS a “dean”? When did high schools start such hifalutin’ stuff? Is renaming an administrator supposed to make a school teach better, or does it just give an administrator a pay raise?

A CONCEALED WEAPON is like a parachute. If you need one and don’t have one, you probably won’t need one again.

I GOTTA SAY WE love Shoe Carnival. A few of the employees have been there for over 14 years or more. Most are friendly and helpful.

IT IS A SHAME more money is not given to the poor people. President Obama always speaks about the middle class. Robert Kennedy always spoke about what he would do for the poor. President Obama doesn’t do that. I hope the next president will do something for poor people.

WHAT IS INTERESTING about Roundtree and his 12 percent raise is that both my wife and I work at Savannah River Site, our raise increases an average of 1 to 3 percent and we make half the money Roundtree makes.

MY HUSBAND IS offered insurance through his job, and it is not free. It costs $500 per month. All of you who say people who have insurance get it for free: It is not free; you have to pay for it.

CONGRATULATIONS to Vice President Joe Biden for being the best shotgun salesman of the year.

WHY IS IT that every time somebody says something about Section 8 or food stamps they are called a racist? That indicates there is only one race of people who are on Section 8 and food stamps. That is not correct. We are against fraud and misuse of Section 8 and food stamps.

NOW THAT OBAMA-created sequester cuts are looming, he is supporting the military? Can we impeach him yet?

"IT IS A SHAME

... more money is not given to the poor people."

Yeah, it is; but we're TRYING- to the extent of borrowing it from China and creating new ones by destroying the economy and taxing working people into poverty.

For six decades we've been seeking out the least deserving of our society and rewarding them. Any surprise there are more today? The singular government program that has gotten what we paid for: We paid people to stay poor; they did.

Absolutely! But one race is proudly and disproportionally on both. And voluably demanding more.

Finally it is starting to happen

The GA Suburbs have started to see how Metro-Cities & Consolidations are just a gimmick to suck up their tax dollars pump it into the city they are forced to support.

As a result of the unsavory politics in urban Atlanta, northern suburban communities acted to distance themselves. Beginning in 2005, many communities began the process of incorporating into their cities.

So far, the communities of Brookhaven, Milton, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Chattahoochee Hills, Peach Tree Corners and Johns Creek have legally done so.

Given that 6 Metro Atlanta communities have succeeded this gives legal prescient and hope to ARC communities like Gracewood, Flemming, Slivercest, Goshen, Woodlake, Pepper Ridge and many others not getting fair representation by the rigged down town politics.

Another items to think over.
Each of these new towns/cities may soon be able to create their own school districts, which would allow them greater control of the academic culture and issues imposed their student by problem students.

Next Flight Out

What is going on with the local school district?
Too many black people?
Too few white people?
Too many women and not enough men?

What gives?! And when did this become the place to vent about your job?

When is the next one-way flight out of Augusta leaving?

Good Morning Awguster

Last week I read an editorial from CNN. It was telling me how wrong I was and how right the Dixie Chicks were with Natalie Manes comment about being ashamed of being from the same state as George W. CNN tied it in with not finding WMD's. Am I the only person that remembers that we did find chemical labs so sanitized they seemed to have never been used. This after Saddam offered to show what they had been USED for? Am I the only one to remember the Kurds being gassed? How can any person use something they don't posses?

WAKE UP AMERICA. Before its too late.

I was also told I had no right to destroy the Dixie Chicks CD's. I have the same right to express my opinion as Miss Manes

Indeed.

And Detroit is an example of what sixty straight years of democrat leadership and labor union mentality can do for/to a society.

Detroit and Chicago-R-US unless we make some changes.

I would support

I would support incorporating South Richmond County, or some significant portion thereof, to include all of our 7000 acres of vacant residential property which the "city" taxes us for but "discourages development of", into a new and separate incorporated area.

Imagine what we could do with our own tax money. Imagine if we could read newpaper articles about development in OUR area. Imagine if ALL of the people on OUR commission or council actually represented US. Imagine if Paul Simon and associates did not have ANY influence on where OUR tax money gets spent. Heck, it would be worth it JUST to be able to ignore Williams, Lockett, and Mason and their race bait of the week. I would be curious to hear their tune if the only money they had to spend and the only taxes and fees they could raise would come only from the people THEY represent.

Let's do it folks. Consolidation just hasn't worked out for us. Things are worse. The savings they promised never happened. Services are worse. The schools are worse. Quality of life is worse. I know countyman will tell us we have a big park and a sheriffs building but about everything else out here has closed up and vamoosed the area. Retail shopping is gone. Restaurants are gone. If it ain't fast food you ain't getting it on the southside. Countyman will tell us that we don't have the density of population to support these things. Well.....WE HAD THEM BEFORE CONSOLIDATION. We could have them again if we controlled out own destiny, our own schools, our own zoning, and OUR OWN TAX MONEY.

Annexation

It would be interesting if southsiders could get the city of Hephzibah to expand and take all the land south of Tobacco Rd. and east of Deans Bridge Rd. You would probably want to have a deal to disconnect the water lines and reconnect them to Hephzibah's system.

R/R #2

There is a rule/law that took effect in the last couple of months regarding the volume issues with the television. The cable companies and broadcast media have just chosen to ignore it. One local car company's commercials are the worst and we all know which dealer it is!!!!!

"Let's do it folks....

What's the process of undoing Consolidation? I've been asking this question for a while. I don't know the answer.

I'm under the impression that the Federal Justice Department has to be asked for permission and grant their approval. That the Consolidation was the result of DOJ action to prevent racial discrimination in the Augusta city government. Is that true? I don't know the legal ins and outs of how to fix it, but I don't see anybody actually DOING anything positive to fix what just about everybody admits is broken.

None of the counties in metro

None of the counties in metro Atlanta are consolidated. The majority black area of South Fulton is not doing anything. I don't notice the cities with the higher black populations like Stone Mountain or Lithonia trying to expand in Dekalb county. Pepperidge & Woodlake are majority black single neighborhoods. The areas separating in metro Atlanta are wealthy/upper middle class white areas with several different neighborhoods.

Johns Creek & Milton residents complained about their money going to the less developed & majority black South Fulton. This is similar to the resident of West Augusta bringing up supporting South Augusta.

Dunwoody & Sandy Springs formed rich majority white enclaves in North Dekalb County.

The city of 'South Augusta' is very naive in 2013. The entire area is only close to 100k people. Where is the majority white wealthy/upper middle class area in South Augusta with a couple thousand? I guess you could separate the middle class neighborhood Goshen, but you would still have to slice up the entire area. The truth is Barton Village, Meadow Brook, Woodlake, Goshen, Williams Foreman rd, Diamond Lakes, etc are never going to work together.

Thanks for the Forbes link Harley

The $1.6B question is why this hasn't gained more traction in the press. When I've searched for more information; I get a lot of hits on right wing blogs, etc., but nothing on more mainstream sources like Forbes; and absolutely nothing on left of center mainsream sources.

Why hasn't it been brought up on the Sunday talk shows, in press conferences, or by our conservative political leadership?

This fish is beginning to smell.

My guess is that people are sensitive to being viewed as "right-wing fanatics," or "paranoid." It is (to some) simply incomprehensible that the U.S. government could ever even consider the use of armed force against the civilian population.

These are people who don't understand history and the practices of oppressive governments and dictators.

I find the fact that it's mostly hollow-point ammunition the most telling. This is NOT target ammunition they're buying and NOT even the type used by most national armies.

Dichotomy... West Augusta is

Dichotomy... West Augusta is by far the leader in terms of shopping/dinning and then it's Aiken/Evans. What other areas of metro Augusta have multiple restaurants or retail compared to South Augusta? Applebees, Walmart, Five Guy, Lowes, Zaxbys, Sonic, multiple grocery stores, etc are located in South Augusta. Do you ever visit Martinez, North Augusta, Grovetown, Harlem, Graniteville?

The graduation rate at Cross Creek in South Augusta is higher than Grovetown. Please stop generalizing all of the schools located in South Augusta. The new magnet high school next to Augusta Tech is now open.

Starbucks(GA deal of the year) chose South Augusta, and the quality in parts of the area had to be high enough for them to invest $172 million.

I don't know how you plan on getting rid of either Mason or Lockett. Both of those commissioners live in South Augusta, and represent the majority. This is why the examples of metro Atlanta are VERY different. I believe Alvin Mason lives somewhere on Willis Foreman rd in one of the Walton neighborhoods.

I think Dichotomy's version of South Augusta must be south of Tobacco rd along Peach Orchard or Hwy 56(majority white area) before the city limits of Hephzibah.

Walgreens is coming to South Augusta at the intersection of Windsor Spring/Tobacco rd.

I believe the late democratic

I believe the late democratic president John Kennedy said "ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country". You are not entitled to anything other than what you work for and earn.if Obama did anymore for people at the expense of us other people , we would all be poor!
