North Augusta Mayor Lark Jones (center) talks to "Deputy" Doug Shull as Jones and Dr. John Newell (background) are held in jail to raise bail money to benefit two youth mission trips during the Captives for a Cause event at Grace United Methodist Church on Friday.

The church's fundraising goal of $10,000 would support two summer mission trips. In June, 33 people will volunteer at Give Kids the World in Kissimmee, Fla., and 13 volunteers will travel to Bolivia to build a church in July.

"We're very close," said Marianne Harlan, the director of worship arts, of the church's goal.
