SO NOW RICHMOND County bases salary on education and experience? Does that mean I get back pay for my BA in Sociology and BA in Criminal Justice? Wait, we can’t even get the 3 percent pay raise we we’re supposed to get for the past 4 years...

A RAVE FOR YOUR article on global warming or as it is now called, climate change. Since Chicago has had only 335 days without more than an inch of snow, could climate change be the reason for over 500 murders in 2012?

AREN’T THE BUFFALO Soldiers the ones who were sent out West to kill Native Americans?

BLACKS IN AFRICA are sold into slavery every day even in 2013. Millions die of starvation every year. Babies are born with AIDS. Yet the blacks in America complain about how bad they have it because of perceived discrimination and harp about slavery that happened 160 years ago. They never mention what is happening in Africa TODAY. Someone’s priorities are all wrong.

THAT GEICO COMMERCIAL with the basketball player is about stupid.

IN TYRANNY LIES ONLY failure Mr. Roundtree. Ease up. The press is your friend.

SMART DRIVERS research in private Georgia laws concerning driving in the left lane rather than braying their ignorance in public.

SLAVERY WAS BAD, but I didn’t have anything to do with it. Why is it being thrown in my face? That is unacceptable.

I LOVE THOSE ALLSTATE commercials. Mayhem can come visit me any time.

IF IT LOOKS LIKE A DUCK and it quacks like a duck, it’s not a dream trip to Washington.

WILL EVERYONE PLEASE leave Mindy McCready alone now?

WHY ARE LOCAL BLACK leaders not talking about black on black crime/violence? Are they scared? Scared of their own people?

KUDOS TO THE PERSONNEL at the GRU emergency room. Their treatment of this “classic cardiac” patient (and his wife) was beyond excellent. It is with heartfelt respect and appreciation to all who cared for us that we wish to say thank you.

GET THE SHOOTERS OFF the streets. Stop them. Not innocent people just protecting themselves. Why would you take away the only protection a 63-year-old widow has for herself?

Never get enough of Lewis. "Why did GT put artificial turf in Grant Field? To keep the cheerleaders from grazing". He had a million of them.

GEICO

I'm in agreement on the basketball commercial. Hard to understand it, honestly. But LOVE the one where the little gecco messes up his lines, and is laughing. I'm laughing right along with him.

When is enough....enough....

Many Senate Republicans, however, are willing to say that Section 5's time has come and gone, and that Southern states should be treated no differently than the rest of the nation.

Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) said it was his opinion that states ought not to be treated differently, which would mean the court would toss the heart of Section 5.

“The formula needs to be updated to reflect the success of Section 5 in the Voting Rights Act," Cornyn told reporters on Capitol Hill. "The country ought -- everybody in the country ought to be treated the same. ... But it will be fascinating to see."

Other Republicans echoed the same sentiment.

Yesterday...

Good story, Harley. :-) Here's mine:

Yesterday, while doing some grocery shopping, I noticed this old, pitiful looking dude in line behind me in line. I decided to pay for his groceries though I could barely afford my own. While he was looking the other way, I gave all my money to the check-out lady and asked her to please wish the old guy a wonderful day. I didn't have a dime left for my wife and kids.

Later I found out the check-out lady pocketed all my money, and the old guy had to pay for his own groceries.

""The country ought -- everybody in the country ought to be....

....treated the same."

What a novel idea. I don't think we'll ever see that day. Too many people have too much to gain by stoking the fires of racial animosity and prejudice.

In spite of all the wishful thinking, there will always be racial, ethnic, and religious disparity in the world and the best we can do is to try to rise above it in our personal lives AND to lose the fear of talking about it for fear someone will accuse us of being part of the problem.

RE: Voting Rights Act

It will never be replaced; even in the wildly unlikely event it would, the real power in the country --the courts-- will rule its reversal unconstitutional.

Somehow.

Yes. It's also unconstitutional to deprive an unborn human being its right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Court

The California supreme court ruled that a state constitutional amendment, duly enacted, was unconstitutional. What's to prevent the U.S. supreme court from ruling the same way about the first or second amendment to the U.S. constitution?

There goes that fascination with the black race, again...

The American Black cannot be compared to any other Black in the world.....their stories are very different, even with similarities.....

But HEY THEY MADE IT,
Through Slavery, Jim Crow, Segregation, and modern day racism, they made it. Very much broken, but BY HIS GRACE the American Black has survived.

It's a God thing, IMO.

True words Harley

"In spite of all the wishful thinking, there will always be racial, ethnic, and religious disparity in the world and the best we can do is to try to rise above it in our personal lives AND to lose the fear of talking about it for fear someone will accuse us of being part of the problem."

It is natural as rain for birds of a feather to flock together. We used to go to national meetings where the geniuses would specify the seats at the tables. Of course, their intent was to mix it all up where guys who knew each other would not sit together. Nobody liked it. They would also do the same with housing, assigning strangers to the same rooms or cottages. Of course, we would get it sorted out when we got there, swapping off until we were with folks we were comfortable with.

Forced integration, whether it be racial, regional, cultural; just does not work, and never will. Those birds of a feather will always flock together.

Kiddies in Washington

B4, that is just another cynical political ploy by Obama and/or his administration to make ordinary Americans feel some pain so he can blame Republicans. As someone indicated, they could cancel a couple of political social functions and save enough to pay for tours.

Section 5

At a minimum, just enforce it in all states. That works for me too, as long as the rules are uniform for all.

"Any educated person would ask....

How does one obtain the gravitas to speak for all "educated" people?

As one educated person, I never find myself asking that question. None of my educated friend ask about it either, so you must be talking about a certain subset of "educated people." Teachers, maybe.

The biggest problems American blacks have right now are democrat politicians, race baiting black "leaders," and three generations of being taught how to fail.

"Quick answer: NOTHING"

Less quick answer....the nagging uncertainty of the citizenry's reaction to such a move.

Probably the very reason Obama is raising and equipping his private para-military force. Somebody has to keep those citizens in line.
