SO NOW RICHMOND County bases salary on education and experience? Does that mean I get back pay for my BA in Sociology and BA in Criminal Justice? Wait, we can’t even get the 3 percent pay raise we we’re supposed to get for the past 4 years...

A RAVE FOR YOUR article on global warming or as it is now called, climate change. Since Chicago has had only 335 days without more than an inch of snow, could climate change be the reason for over 500 murders in 2012?

AREN’T THE BUFFALO Soldiers the ones who were sent out West to kill Native Americans?

BLACKS IN AFRICA are sold into slavery every day even in 2013. Millions die of starvation every year. Babies are born with AIDS. Yet the blacks in America complain about how bad they have it because of perceived discrimination and harp about slavery that happened 160 years ago. They never mention what is happening in Africa TODAY. Someone’s priorities are all wrong.

THAT GEICO COMMERCIAL with the basketball player is about stupid.

IN TYRANNY LIES ONLY failure Mr. Roundtree. Ease up. The press is your friend.

SMART DRIVERS research in private Georgia laws concerning driving in the left lane rather than braying their ignorance in public.

SLAVERY WAS BAD, but I didn’t have anything to do with it. Why is it being thrown in my face? That is unacceptable.

I LOVE THOSE ALLSTATE commercials. Mayhem can come visit me any time.

IF IT LOOKS LIKE A DUCK and it quacks like a duck, it’s not a dream trip to Washington.

WILL EVERYONE PLEASE leave Mindy McCready alone now?

WHY ARE LOCAL BLACK leaders not talking about black on black crime/violence? Are they scared? Scared of their own people?

KUDOS TO THE PERSONNEL at the GRU emergency room. Their treatment of this “classic cardiac” patient (and his wife) was beyond excellent. It is with heartfelt respect and appreciation to all who cared for us that we wish to say thank you.

GET THE SHOOTERS OFF the streets. Stop them. Not innocent people just protecting themselves. Why would you take away the only protection a 63-year-old widow has for herself?

Blacks

It is interesting, though not puzzling, that this paper continues to exploit the plight of people in terms of race. Most papers or periodicals that I read rarely bring the issue up. Talk about being stuck in the 19th and 20th century.
Look at the above 14 R&R's. 3 of them specifically call-out black people and not a one calls out white people. Is it assumed that black people are a singular unit with no diversity within their race and white people are not? Is there anything the white people did that should be noteworthy enough in the Augusta area to warrant a Rant or Rave?

I simply agreed with poster #4 - a comment which the AC saw fit to publish, yet my post was removed. What gives AC?

There is a lot of reference

There is a lot of reference to race in today's R&R. Typical for Augusta though. No surprise here.

Yes Patty, it is. I think there is enough racial division that it is a worthy subject to explore for better understanding; but pot shots do nothing to further honest discussion.

Agree with post #4, blacks in America should quit complaining and be grateful for what they have. Is that more PC for the AC?

New to the metro

The Augusta mall continues to attract the first location outside of metro Atlanta for multiple stores & restaurants(Apple, Jared Galleria, PF Changs, Sephora, Pandora, Chop House, etc). Clarks is coming to the Augusta mall.

http://www.clarksusa.com/eng/storeLocator/redirect.cfm?sectionID=b2c/sto...

The Village at Riverwatch, Carmax area, and the 44 acre development at Walton Way EXT/I-20 will continue the trend. Those areas of West Augusta are even richer than the Augusta mall area. The next goal should consist of an town center development in the CBD, smaller Augusta Exchange in South Augusta, and shopping center near Hephzibah/Blythe/Mcben area..

Jake.....

You're so......um.....post-racial.

"Exploit the plight?" That's the bread and butter of left-wing politicians and those whose livelihood depends on enlarging the population of black "victims," keeping them stirred up, and convincing whites it's all their fault.

Rant and Raves Sometimes Lame

Maybe we need to do an Ann Landers or something and start making up phony, interesting, funny and controversial R and R's just to make reading them worthwhile. There has to be more to life in Augusta than what we have here today. Interesting R and R's make for more interesting comments here.

I'm going to make up something about the person behind me paying for my checkout at the grocery store and then getting in a beat-up old car. Should I have gone over and given the money back to him/her? Do some people who are themselves poor have a need to display generosity? Or is it something else?

Yesterday...

...while doing some grocery shopping, I noticed this old, pitiful looking dude in line behind me in line. I, being the wonderful person that I am, decided to pay for his groceries though I could barely afford my own.

While he was looking the other way, I gave all my money to the check-out lady and asked her to please wish the old, weird looking guy a wonderful day. I didn't have a dime left for my wife and kids.

As I was just finished loading my old, dilapidated car and getting it jump started, I noticed the old guy giving me a suspicious stare as though he was thinking about stealing my groceries so I gunned it and got away as fast as I could.

So....does this have anything to do with my parents, or do you think the old guy was just raised too near a large body of water?

Something new??

TUESDAY, March 5, 2013 — An ordinary patient visit recently led Swiss researchers to an extraordinary discovery: a single genetic mutation that causes type 1 diabetes, as reported today in the journal Cell Metabolism. The scientists are now exploring ways to translate their findings into clinical research, including a possible trial with drugs that activate the gene pathway, in the hopes of identifying new type 1 diabetes treatments.

“This is the first time that a single gene was found that directly leads to type 1 diabetes,” says Marc Donath, MD, the study’s senior author and an endocrinologist at University Hospital Basel in Switzerland. “This gene was quite well-known from animal studies and was not expected to lead to this kind of disease.”

Good Morning "Good By" America

RM, This may help your 07:09

Armed with the full weight of the Obama Administration, the deceptively named "Student Non-Discrimination Act" is expected to come up for a vote in the new Congress.

If passed, the Homosexual Classrooms Act would:
*** Require schools to teach appalling homosexual acts so "homosexual students" don't feel "singled out" during already explicit sex-Ed classes;

*** Spin impressionable school children in a whirlwind of sexual confusion and misinformation, even peer pressure to "experiment" with the homosexual "lifestyle;"

*** Exempt homosexual students from punishment for propositioning, harassing, or even sexually assaulting their classmates, as part of their specially-protected right to "freedom of self-expression;"

*** Force even private and religious schools to teach a pro-homosexual curriculum and purge any reference to religion if a student claims it creates a "hostile learning environment" for homosexual students.

This is the education you parents want when you send your children to school!

Now you all can go back and be concerned about the important issues in the R&R's

Drone can get ya...

WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration believes it could technically use military force to kill an American on U.S. soil in an "extraordinary circumstance" but has "no intention of doing so," U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said in a letter disclosed Tuesday.

Holder's March 4 letter was disclosed by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who had asked whether the Justice Department believed President Barack Obama had the legal authority to order a targeted strike against an American citizen located within the United States.

The Obama administration, Holder said, rejected the use of military force where "well-established law enforcement authorities in this country provide the best means for incapacitating a terrorist threat." But in theory, it'd be legal for the president to order such an attack under certain circumstances, Holder said.

"The question you have posed is therefore entirely hypothetical, unlikely to occur, and one we hope no president will ever have to confront. It is possible, I suppose, to imagine an extraordinary circumstance in which it would be necessary and appropriate under the Constitution and applicable laws of the United States for the President to authorize the military to use lethal force within the territory of the United States," Holder wrote.

Soooo any day now a drone can hit river or harley while they are buying groceries for some unknown person...that could be the last thing they ever do...

Fake Cab or Fake Story?

What about the story of the woman who claimed the cab driver assaulted her? Then APPARENTLY the Checker Cab dispatcher says a guy is driving around in a fake cab picking up women. You mean to tell me someone is going to have a big old yellow cab he drives around in so he can assault women?

Thanks, CG. That's the idea.

Non Sports Fans Forgive Me

This is for JTF and other sports' fans. It is one of my favorite Lewis Grizzard lines that came to me after the UGA-Clemson game time was announced yesterday. He once said that while in between marriages, he had considered placing a classified personal ad seeking a UGA coed with whom he could attend the games because, “She would not think that getting down on one’s knees and barking at a Clemson fan was odd behavior.”

Thanks to my sis for this lol

There was a bit of confusion at the Sporting goods store this morning.

When I was ready to pay for my purchases of gun powder and bullets at the Sports Authority

the cashier said, "Strip down, facing me."

Making a mental note to complain to the NRA about the gun registry people running amok,

I did just as she had instructed.

When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring

to my credit card.

I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future.

They need to make their instructions to us seniors a little clearer!

Shopping center in that area

That area would lure shoppers from the small towns south of Augusta.....it doesn't have to be a big mall.....just a medium size shopping center.....with a few nice restaurants......believe it or not but some wealthy folks live south of Lumpkin Rd....
