Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

I DON’T KNOW OF any job where people can run for it, get it, then claim they need more money. And Marion Williams says Sheriff Roundtree and Kellie McIntyre can sue if they don’t get their raises? Cite the law.

RANT FOR THE sheriff and solicitor. You haven’t even been in office long enough for a job performance review yet. If you didn’t like the salary, why did you run for office? Shame on all you greedy fools!

THE PRINCIPAL OF Butler High should be fired for allowing the lady to come into his school and then commit fraud against his students.

RANT TO THE LITTLE Girl Scout that came to my door over a month ago. Hey, where are my three boxes of cookies that I paid you for?

IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE Butler High students were conned by Erica Jones and her DRBJ Legacy Foundation organization. They are lucky they were not left stranded someplace. It’s not fair on the kids.

IT’S TIME FOR Sylvia Cooper to retire again. She seems to have lost her mojo and her column just is not as interesting as it used to be.

I HAVE A RANT FOR employers in Augusta. I have two children in college, one of whom has to be in school four days a week all day. These employers don’t care that they are going to school to make a better life for themselves and working to pay their bills. Give tthem a break and don’t schedule mandatory meetings during the weekday and threaten them if they can’t be there. Do it at night or on the weekends.

YAY TO THE CLOSURE of KFCs! Less totally unhealthy foods around to tempt people. Make sure to sub in only more healthy food businesses into those areas.

RANT FOR THE Hammond’s Ferry residents using scare tactics to stop the GreenJackets from building a stadium in North Augusta. You are the reason businesses don’t come to North Augusta, not the leadership of the city.

Small crack in the dam

"BOB WOODWARD: A 'Very Senior' White House Person Warned Me I'd 'Regret' What I'm Doing". Looks like some liberal reporters are beginning to break out of the fold.

YAY TO THE CLOSURE of KFCs!

Really? Though I'm not happy with their product, I also understand that when a business goes under, nothing good happens; people lose their jobs; sales and property taxes disappear; the owner/franchisee loses their investment, and worst of all, it'll probably be converted into a church.

If history is any guide, I think Richmond County has found its new Superintendent.

Until the next election campaign begins, then it's close ranks around the Democrat.

JTF, yep, Bob Woodward is

JTF, yep, Bob Woodward is coming down on Obama for manipulating the budget crisis. The White House dropping threats on him is like Caspar Milquetoast trying to sucker punch Joe Louis.

Meat Inspectors

Instead of furloughing USDA meat inspectors, how about furloughing the guy who does the "studies" about how many people eat fast food, or how many people forget to take their birth control pills, and other foolish stuff like that?

I also liked Woodward response to Obama not sending another carrier to the Persian Gulf and how it makes us look weak. Mentioning that Bill Clinton, GWB, and Reagan would not have hesitated.

KFC

SeenIt — I can assure you the reason for the recent closures of a handful of KFC stores has nothing to do with the food and has nothing to do with restaurant location. Instead it has to do with lackadaisical management. The franchisee did not hire quality people. They were lazy and inattentive. Also, there is no telling how much frozen food walked out the back doors. The franchisee was never around to check.

Regarding the IT’S TIME FOR Sylvia Cooper to retire again rant.

Could the AC publish the name of the local politician whining this time, that Ms. Cooper roasted?

You are Augusta's best example of what worries Politicians.
You keep them up every Friday night chewing Tums and drinking Mallox by the gallon, waiting for the latest Saturday City Ink.

The KFC at Windsor Spring and Peach Orchard

Will be next...
if they don't get a quick handle on their M-F 4pm-8pm staff.

Taking orders for food they haven't cooked and is not even cooking.

Too many times we had a 20 min wait before they would or could make a new batch of the Original. As a now seldom customer, The wife and I got the impression the evening staff are under orders to hold off frying until there are enough orders to sell it what they cook. Plus now they reduced the Ear of Corn by half.

Beside the common fast food screwing up orders, too many customers are ticked off. Prices and waiting without being told it will be 20 mins. Many fed up wanting their money back.

Add to it the staff is arguing and yelling at each other.

Just too much drama for our family on our last few visits.
So now the family heads out to Waynesboro, yes 5 extra miles.
There they have a buffet, and a civilized, quiet and well mannered staff.

Little Lamb's 8:45 AM Post...

on KFC closures nails it.

Management has EVERYTHING to do with success, or failure, of KFC (and most other) franchises.

Hire a weak manager and leave him/her on their own and you WILL fail.

Wife Saver is on Hwy 56 and near Lumpkin Rd.

We Love'd Wife Saver.

We ate there twice a week back in the 1980's, either at the MCG/Paine college, 56, or Barton Chapel. Back then it was the best in town and just like real home cooking.

But sad to say, it just is not the same food we loved back in the 1980's. At least not the last few times we tried it again over the last 3 years.

Yep, things have changed. But, still, if you are in NA, try WifeSaver. Also, Wash Rd and the new one in Evans. Like Harley said, Management matters.

Food nutrition

I certainly do not subscribe to the government telling one what they can and cannot eat, but I do appreciate nutrition labeling requirements that allow consumers that wish to, make good decisions on food selection.

There are many fat laden dishes that I no longer order once I found out just how bad they were. You do have intuition, but sometimes it is way worse than you imagined.

You can easily pack in excess of a full day's nutrition requirement at one sitting with appetizers and a dessert, or you can choose wisely; still enjoy your meal, and get out for 1/3 of that.

The one on Belair Rd is moving to Grovetown; so says a friend who works there.

They still have the best fried chicken in town, though it is a rare treat for me anymore.
