Motorcycle accident kills Aiken man, 29

An Aiken man died Sunday when the motorcycle he was riding struck a pickup on Silver Bluff Road.

Aiken Coroner Tim Carlton identified the victim as Keith Charles Grubbs, 29, and said he was pronounced dead at Georgia Regents Medical Center at 6 p.m.

Carlton said Grubbs was riding a 2001 Suzuki GSXR 750 motorcycle at high speed when he hit a Ford F-250, which was turning left on Herndon Dairy Road.

A witness said the motorcycle was going in excess of 100 mph. Alcohol is considered to be a contributing factor along with excessive speed, the coroner said, and toxicology tests are pending.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
