Events such as Superstorm Sandy and recurrent weather extremes are persuading more Americans to accept evidence of climate change, according to an Atlanta-based speaker for the nonprofit Climate Reality Project.

Sam Collier, a volunteer with the non-profit Climate Reality Project founded by former vice president Al Gore, was in Augusta this week speaking to the Sierra Club and other groups.

“When you talk about the deniers, it’s more of a U.S. problem now,” said Sam Collier, a volunteer for the global group.

“Other nations seem more ready to embrace the idea.”

Collier, a volunteer speaker for the organization founded and led by former Vice President Al Gore, was in Augusta this week to speak to the local Sierra Club and other organizations.

In past decades, the concept of global warming was characterized through predictions, he said, and now there are actual events.

“We used to talk about weather systems, ice caps and long-term things,” he said. “Now we are seeing the first phenomena: rainstorms that are bigger and more frequent, and heavier snowfalls, too. I call it ‘global weirding.’ ”

As more extreme events occur, more people will realize the urgency in bringing change, especially by reducing carbon emissions and increasing energy efficiency, he said.

“I think perception of the problem is changing pretty fast,” he said. “Never before, even in geologic time, have we gotten so good at getting carbon that’s under the ground out into the atmosphere.”

Ah, complete nonsense.

Ah, complete nonsense. Weather has always been extreme. Global warming didn't work so now they are calling it climate change. I'll bet Collier anything he wants that another ice age is coming that will push glaciers all the way to Augusta no matter what we do.

Journalism

If a warming denier gave a speech and the Chronicle covered it, they would have certainly put opposing viewpoints in the story. Not so with this one. I guess the commenters will serve that role.

If the global warming alarmists are reduced to using rain storms and snow storms to make their case, they are on weak ground.

The IPCC of the UN has stated

The IPCC of the UN has stated the scientific opinion on climate change is that the Earth's climate system is unequivocally warming, and it is more than 90% certain that humans are causing it through activities that increase concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as deforestation and burning fossil fuels. And we know how effective the UN is at determining nuclear capacity of Iraq and Iran and seeking out WMD. We know that the UN is without bias and always has the neutral point of view don't we.

Climate Change is Real!

Climate change is real...

It gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

But I prefer to call it seasons.

Remember snake oil. Remember copper bracelets. Remember life on the moon. Remember life on Mars. Trillions of dollars are made from fraud each and every year.
Al Gore could care less about human life on earth. Big Al cares about the MONEY and getting his face on TV.

Global Wierding?

What a great term, but its probably best suited to people not weather. A US problem? Try going to Beijing and see the sun. Good luck with that. Its like a gas chamber over there.

120 YEARS OF CLIMATE SCIENCE FAILURE

Faithson, one of the key facets of science is being able to predict out comes, based on analysis of the present situation based on measurements and observations. Repeatedly climate "scientist" have come up short on providing accurate timely predictions. Snow will be rare in England is one such failed prediction. Here is a link to 120 some year of climate “science “failure when their “scientific “ principals are applied. http://www.lowerwolfjaw.com/agw/quotes.htm
