The American Red Cross is seeking all of Augusta’s heroes.

For the second year, the Augusta chapter of the American Red Cross is participating in the “Heroes” campaign.

Leslie Mitchell, development and external relations officer for the Augusta chapter, said it’s a way to promote everyday volunteers in the community “who otherwise might not be recognized” for life-saving acts.

The campaign began in 1994 at a Washington chapter. It has since been picked up by chapters through the country.

In 2012, the Augusta chapter received about 50 nominations.

Nominations in 13 categories are being accepted through March 1. The winners will be recognized at the Heroes Breakfast Award Ceremony on June 12.

Nominations can be made at arcaug.org by clicking on the “Nominate a Hero” link.
