Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

I AM SHOCKED THAT a conservative newspaper like this one would parade homosexuality around on the front page with a headline like “She was my wife.” I am truly sorry for the loss of Officer Rogers and respect her service, but there’s no need to share her private life with us. This article seemed more like a propaganda piece for gay marriage.

IMMIGRATION REFORM = Citizenship for Invaders.

TO THE RANTER WHO waited 15 minutes behind someone at Bojangles’: Was that an exaggeration? I would never waste my gas or school time like that. Start honking at one-minute mark, at most.

IT’S GOOD TO COME UP with new ways of teaching our kids in elementary schools, as reported in The Augusta Chronicle, but the question remains: Are the overall performance levels improving year after year in these schools? Some teachers get carried away with their own experiments and forget that they are there in the first place to teach the children.

RANT TO NBC NEWS when reporting on Newtown shooting. The shooter used handguns only; four were found by police in the school. Check out Chicago. It has the highest (illegal) handgun crimes.

RANT FOR THE 60 Minutes Obama-Clinton interview. I could not stomach any more pat-on-the-back slobbering responses. It almost made me puke.

I LOOK FORWARD TO the business features each Monday in The Chronicle. Seed Master’s Unlimited Cafe was a marvelous story about Barbara Chaney, who not only serves delicious homemade meals but also provides free holiday meals for the homeless during Christmas.

WANT TO REBUILD the rundown section of Augusta and increase the tax base? Then change the zoning code to allow pre-built homes. No, I am not talking mobile homes. I am talking $65k-$100k, HUD/FHA-approved homes.

RAVE FOR THE GUYS at Fire Station No. 6 – Richmond Hill Road. They were very helpful when I brought in my 85-year-old grandmother on Jan. 26, concerned and attentive to her needs.

RANT TO AUGUSTA DRIVERS. Learn what it means to stop and let emergency vehicles like fire trucks and ambulances go by. The next life they save might be yours!

RANT TO NBC NEWS

I find Obama's constant lies too disgusting to watch him at all. When he comes on, the TV goes to Gunsmoke, Andy Griffith, or the like. My stomach feels better for it.

If there is ever prime time

... airing of oral sex on television, it will be a television journalist playing Monica to Obama's Clinton in the guise of an "unbiased" interview.

"WANT TO REBUILD

Withdraw from the Section Eight and HUD's Public Housing programmes and declare the city free from their blight. People would flock to Augusta.

TV

Why waste time watching any politician or political talking head on the tube? I don't watch very much TV but when I do I like to be entertained. History, food shows, sports, and old movies pretty much covers what I like.
One thing I would like to see done away with is the two four-year election cycle for the President. Make it a maximum 6 years, or less, one time deal. When the Constitution was written they did not have the instant information we have now and it took longer for a President to make his mark or get things screwed up. We have so much technology and information at our fingertips now that was not available even 20yrs ago. I am not looking forward to watching Obama for 4 more years just like I was tired of watching Bush and Clinton. If you can't sell your agenda in 4 to 6 years then you need to hang it up.

I have better things to do...

....than watch so-called "journalists" make kissy-face with Our Dear Ruler...therefore I cannot comment on any interviews with said Ruler..And to anyone who says....."Thank you God for our President".....(see comment above), I say...just because we talk about him does't mean we love him.
Quite the contrary.
We talk about him because we fear him, abhor his philosophy, and those who subscribe to his philosophy. We talk about him because we know him and is ilk, to be despots and usurpers of freedom...
And we think about the day he will no longer have a position of power that is above his ability and his intellect. We hope for the day that America will again have a leader, and not a demagogue, who is more focused on political power and destroying individual freedom than actually helping the country move forward.....

MASTER TICKETS

Is it me, or does anyone else see anything wrong with Augusta Richmond County Commissioners receiving complementary (free) Master Tournament tickets and then turning around and selling them for a substantial profit? I know that there have been situations where certain Commissioners have donated their complementary (free) tickets to Wounded Warriors or others, which is fine; but when an elected official sells these complementary (free) tickets for a substantial profit I personally see something ethically wrong with that. Being a Commissioner must be a “GREAT” job.

I agree Conservative Man.......

.......that is why I suggest for our leader Hugh Eugene Tudor. In Augusta political lore he ran for a record number of offices without ever being elected. Then he finally was elected to a seat and his fame quickly spread. He was a guest on Gary Moore's "I've Got A Secret" and no one guessed what his claim to fame was.

1st rant

It was about love not homosexuality. Officer Rogers and Frances had a relationship full of love for each other. If only more people could find their soulmate like these two lovely ladies!

Once upon a time

I was sitting at a drive thru at the corner of the Gordon Hy & No1 highway.....it had taken the workers awhile to get the order because soo many were standing in line in front....sooo they gave me my drink & I waited.....lo & behold this oldish woman behind me started blowing her horn...then she jumped out & started beating the back of my car with her fist....she then came to my side door & we had some choice words .....the workers got really busy & finished my order...

My daughters said they weren't worried...they knew I could take her....& I could...:)

Someone retired sent this joke...still funny too!

The Bridge

A man on his Harley was riding along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, God said, 'because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.'

The biker pulled over and said, 'Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want.'

God replied, 'Your request is materialistic; think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that could possibly help mankind.'

The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, 'God, I wish that I, and all men, could understand women; I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, why she snaps and complains when I try to help, and how I can make a woman truly happy.

God replied: 'You want two lanes or four on that bridge?

Commission and Masters Tickets

JWilliams, I agree with you about the Masters tickets being given to the Commissioners (and others) because they represent the county and then being sold. Those tickets are local government property when given to the Commissioners because they are in an official capacity. I complained a couple of years ago about the practice.

I wasn't looking to complain about the matter, but when a segment of the Commission began to obstruct the National in silly ways, I found it too much. It reminds me of the tickets given to the Richmond County School System to give to deserving students that disappeared.

After my complaints I was told by newspaper and radio people that I had no evidence while implying the Commissioners were attending themselves and not selling their tickets. Heh...I'd like to place some money on that. Has anyone EVER seen some long time Commissioners on the course?

The solution is tickets given to government officials should be special ones with their photos. These are county property and not to provide untaxable income to public officials. That's illegal on many levels.

Yes it was RM...

The article says..

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie:

What can I say? You're the only person I would like to see in the White House in 2016 other than Hillary. You're America's no s*** taking uncle. Do one thing for your wife, kids, and supporters. Start walking at night and eat a little less, not a lot less, just a little. We want to see you around for a long time. Your leadership is greatly needed.

RM is spot on. Complimentary tickets should come with a photo of the person using them.
