Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

RAVES TO THE Lexington-Richland District 5 school board for firing Scott Compton for stomping on MY flag. The attorney representing him should be disbarred, as well.

LET’S SUPPORT THOSE organizations such as New Bethlehem Community Center that are doing great things for the community. Their activities include a food pantry, clothing closet, GED classes, computer literacy classes, senior program and after school program.

WONDERING HOW A true believer in God can vote for the Democratic platform with its liberal views against pro-life and endorsing the homosexual agenda? How ’bout you Catholics?

HOPE THOSE GUN BUYERS who willingly paid twice the value for assault rifles and heavy artillery will be sure to lock those weapons safely away. Otherwise if they get stolen and used in a crime, we ought to charge you with the cost of hospital bills and/or funeral expenses for the victim, not to mention charges and fines for hazardous handling of dangerous materials.

THAT’S TRULY PITIFUL how the name of the hospital is also now named after our state regents. We need a new board and new governor to appoint some more sane people.

IF YOU PUT A CLOTH napkin on your lap in a restaurant, please put it on the table when you leave instead of just letting it fall on the floor. Someone can get seriously hurt if they trip on it!

BIG RAVE FOR Steve Crawford for his front page article on Sandy Rogers and her partner of 27 years.

AUGUSTA CHRONICLE, you couldn’t provide any news of a major house fire in North Augusta. Are we not in your news area anymore? REALLY?

A HUGE RANT to The Augusta Chronicle. What a shock and such a feeling of disgust I had Jan. 27, to open my Chronicle and see the feature story on Sandy Rogers you chose for the front page. This story should have been hidden in the opinion section or never ever appeared in the newspaper at all.

I DID NOT HEAR any big outcry about gun control from Obama when the shocking 2011 homicide figures from Chicago were released. The number was over 500 and included children, as well as adults. Let’s treat deaths by guns a great tragedy no matter where it occurs.

Good Morning "American Flag" America

To Desecrate the American Flag in any way is the lowest animal human action that could be committed. To do so, is just like urinating or defecating on every grave of the millions of Americans that have given the ultimate price for that flag.I would have no regret by putting a bullet between the eyes of those that would do so.

I feel that "Monitoring" is different than "Trolling" which I do daily. I read 98% of every comment made on here and provide Uppers to 99% of my hopefully considered friends...downers to a very few and you probably know which ones they are. Wed I posted 5 and received 16 downers. To those TSD, I have an email address and would appreciate hearing from you as to your reasons you feel like you do. Don't be afraid, you can never offend me and will never beat some of the low emails I have already received.

I have cut back my posting because there are so many of you that cover my feelings so much better than I can and to post would be like repeating what has already been said.

Jim (Sarge) fell 2 times Tue. and Precious had to call the fire department of get him off the floor. He has been admitted to Dr. Hospital to evaluate the extreme pain that he is suffering in his leg. Doctors are saying it is caused by possible bone cancer behind his knee and reaction to the Chemo that has killed all his white blood cells. He is in Rm 522E, telephone 706 651-4522. You must wear a mask that is in a box of his door before entering.

What is really scary beyond words, is the fact that "Drones can now be used to kill American Citizens (foreign and domestic) plus the fact the DHS is ordering millions of more ammo and thousands of Fully-Automatic rifles above what they already have. Ask yourself WHY?

I rarely give thumbs down...

Sometimes I understand people disagreeing with a posters comments but I feel like some just give any post a thumbs down just because of the poster. I have seen some very well thought out and well written posts recieve thumbs down and it was obvious the problem was with the poster and not the post. I can't recall ever giving you a thumbs down Cobalt but if I ever find myself doing so I will gladly explain! Even the best of minds disagree sometimes. I love River's post but don't always agree with him.

"I rarely give thumbs down..."

I'm with you on that. I really don't bother as the serial losers on this site are conveniently blocked by ACes software to keep my annoyance to a tolerable level. On the other hand, I kinda consider it almost mandatory when I post regarless of topic or side of the debate I promote; I've had my stalker give thumbs down on my recipe for mom's fluoridated apple pie baked in her napalm oven.

You have never received a "downer" from me and you never will. Nor will you ever receive an "upper" from me either. I don't do thumbs. I don't understand the system.

You can tell when it's an act

You can tell when it's an act of disagreeing with the comment or just outright rudeness. I really don't care, though I sometimes comment on them. The ones that are the most offensive revolve around situations of benevolence.

If everyone liked me, I'd be worried that I had no spiritual foundation, nor any backbone. If I offend someone and I know it, I always seek to make amends where they are due.

If they are unwilling to accept them, then I see the issue as their problem and not mine. There are plenty of great people here to enjoy.

It Appears To Me....

...that the "thumbs" awarded have a lot more to do with the position you take than the merits of your argument. It also appears that popularity has more to do with the quality of your post. Also, I suspect thumbs are awarded simply to run up points and, maybe, even to run up your own points. I know for sure you can be penalized thousands of points for making a post the censors don't like. Like I said, I really don't understand the system, but I suspect whatever was the intent of whomever invented the system, it has probably become useless.

"HOPE THOSE GUN BUYERS who willingly paid twice the value....."

If your car is ever stolen, and used in a crime....I sure hope YOU are charged with the crime as well.

sheesh. The lengths people will go to to demonize guns...and they STILL can't define the so called "assault weapon."

All Thumbs..................

You and me both Willow. If I have ever offended anyone to the point of causing hurt, it was not intended. I know my thoughts, and more importantly, GOD knows. Heck, every great once in a while, a certain commenter gets a"thumbs up" from me. And seenit, George always gets my thumbs up too!

Community Unrest in the Black Neighborhood

Does anyone not understand the latest case of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office Deputy who shot the black man had to be handled carefully due to the possibility of community unrest in the black neighborhood? Have we forgotten the Cherry Hill riots? I believe the RCSO Sheriff and spokespersons know what they are doing. Settle down and help them out.

That's what made this Country great. Cower to the mobs and treat one particular race with kid gloves and appeasement.

If we don't they'll get weally, weally mad and burn some houses or cars and maybe even shoot some white people.

Sheriff could receive 'significant' raise

Posted: February 8, 2013 - 5:44pm

By Barry L. Paschal

Publisher Twitter @BarryPaschal

Columbia County’s sheriff will become the county’s highest-paid elected official if commissioners approve a proposal up for review next week.

A change in the base salary for the office will give Sheriff Clay Whittle an increase of $16,530 per year, raising his total compensation to $135,760, said County Administrator Scott Johnson.

That will put Whittle’s pay $163 higher than the current highest-paid official, Tax Commissioner Kay Allen.

“It’s a relatively significant pay raise,” Johnson said, and comes because of an effort to clear up a discrepancy in how the base salaries for the county’s elected officials are computed. Johnson said he noticed the disparity when preparing annual letters the commission office sends to elected officials, letting them know how much they’ll make based on cost of living adjustments. He then initiated the proposal to increase Whittle’s base salary.

haha
You have a point my friend....I just saw a video of fights at Augusta Mall...ugly situation....some are saying it happens often now.......the I read that the RCSO wouldn't respond unless a victim came forth...my answer to that is this..

The patron at the Mall is the victim...the paying customer is the victim...the mother with her 2 kids in tow is the victim...overlook this Rtree & you will have MORE problems....how long do you think women will continue shopping there if confronted with out of control fights??

Turn a blind eye & watch the women shoppers leave....to another city....it is a big deal....

Eggggzzzzzaaaccccttttllllyyyy.

Who wants to live in a society where the rioters, thugs, and bullies are in charge?

Answer....only the rioters, thugs, and bullies.

Normal people will go somewhere where laws are enforced and obeyed by everybody and thugs are treated like thugs.
