CONGRATS TO THE ASU Lady Jaguars for their best start ever! Keep up the great work, ladies, and hopefully see you in the finals!

I HOPE THE anniversary of Casey Vice’s murder will be hammered home to the abuse survivors and mainly current abuse victims to go ahead and get away from abusers.

WHAT WAS THE MAKE, model and year of the car found under the Sand Bar Ferry Bridge? Inquiring minds want to know.

DEMOCRATS ANNOUNCE plans to ban 150 types of now-legal weapons. I seem to remember our president telling us he was not going to do this during his campaign.

THE CHILDREN’S Medical Center is getting the Azziz/Regents treatment. In another time, someone who came into the area and caused this much turmoil would be tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail.

BIG RAVE FOR FPL’S tremendous donation of food to Golden Harvest! Not only are you a caring community business, but you have helped literally well over 165,000 meals.

RAVE FOR ASU FANS. At the big giveaway of GRU T-shirts at a basketball game, employees of the university were “encouraged” to wear the GRU shirts because it was the first game for Regent U. When the new name was announced at halftime, the crowd booed so loud that the big announcement was drowned out. We have counted one person wearing the despicable shirt at the two following games. Way to go, die-hard ASU fans!

TOO BAD SO MANY young people have no sense of basic courtesy or respect on buses to just grab front seats and stay seated. But I have thankfully seen a lot of nice young people. A particular group of young ladies and gentlemen from Paine College obviously do that on those trips on the often overcrowded Augusta Mall bus on Saturdays, and I heartily applaud them.

SO WITH HUNDREDS of cable channels, you complain because “two” of them were cut as prices increase? But how else can the cable company keep providing you with such a vast choice of channels to watch? If money is a problem, cut the cable completely.

SOMEONE WHO MAKES $45 million dollars somehow has to pay 60 percent of it in taxes? Is he really so honest that he could not find a single loophole?

Rush has used both words in question...

...on many occasions. My use of the combination of them together, in such a circumstance, he would likely enjoy.

I read the FCC rules synopsis

I read the FCC rules synopsis yesterday concerning the Lenny Bruce-George Carlin Words that ended up in the Supreme Court. What I found interesting is the list is not all inclusive and intent is often important. They don't necessarily have to act on every utterance of a bad word if there was not derogatory intent or description of excrement or sexual functions.

It's also interesting that the type language is dependent on the time of the day the program is aired, too. From the FCC website:

"It's against federal law to air obscene programming at any time. It is also against federal law to air indecent or profane programming during certain hours. The Commission is charged with enforcing the law that governs these types of broadcasts."

Frankly, I've never heard anyone called a BAP in over the air radio by an employee. I've listened to a lot of radio, too. I was surprised. No wonder Open Curtain called the station manager to complain his child had heard the remarks.

I'm guessing more than a few FCC complaints were filed over the episode. I wonder how it will all play out? Austin could be right that it's laughable to think the FCC would be concerned. He's has an educating show that I enjoy even when I disagree with him.

Austin, didn't you say later the person who received the wrath of your remarks had a police radio on going in the background indicating he was with law enforcement? That's an interesting twist. He also was a black person.

If you have not heard the words "A" and "B" on the air...

...you must have the TV parked on The Children's Television Workshop.

Like I said...Limbaugh uses them on occasion, sorry to burst anyone's bubble.

As far as what was playing in the background, that was a caller's comment.

Virtually everyone in Lincoln County has a police scanner in their house, maybe it was one of my in-laws.

Austin, I added a comment

Austin, I added a comment above. and since you mentioned the Children's Television Workshop, it could be because the children's program airs during the day, or any program on during the day, things are stricter during those hours. Here's a quote from the FCC.
"It's against federal law to air obscene programming at any time. It is also against federal law to air indecent or profane programming during certain hours. The Commission is charged with enforcing the law that governs these types of broadcasts."

I Listen To Rush Limbaugh....

...fairly often. I have done so since he was first nationally broadcast in the late 80s. I have heard him use those words, but only when quoting. I have never heard him fly off in a fit of rage to use them, nor have I ever heard him refer to one of his callers as a "particularly vile coward and liar." Ditto for Harley Drew.

Don't misunderstand me. I listen to your show often. I am not opposed to the use of that kind of language in a bar, on the golf course, or somewhere more fitting. I don't think you do yourself (or your listeners) any favors by totally losing control of your emotions and spouting out insults just because a caller gets your goat.

Sooo serious on here

Maybe you want to
give me kisses sweet
But only for one
night with no repeat
Maybe you'd go away
and never call
And a taste of honey is
worse than none at all
(oh little girl)

(chorus)
Oh little girl
in that case I
don't want no part
I do believe that
that would only
break my heart
Oh, but if you feel
like loving me
if you got the notion
I second that emotion
Said, if you feel like giving me
a lifetime of devotion
I second that emotion

Maybe you think that love
would tie you down
You ain't got the
time to hang around
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net ]
Maybe you think that
love was made for fools
So it makes you wise
to break the rules

Anyone can have a scanner....even on the internet.....I had one (because 1st husband insisted on it) right over the dang bed....with a new baby in the house.....hated it....fire/police/ sirens day & night....geez...didn't help with love making...that's all I will say about that.

Yeah, I get it about the

Yeah, I get it about the public having police scanners, but the caller into the show made it seem like it was because someone at the RCSO had been the other caller. I just wanted it clarified that Austin was or was not going along with that....and he answered me.

Well Harley 52...

...I have not called a woman a "slut" on the air, that is certain, and I do not claim to be (nor aspire to be) Harley Drew. We have two very different jobs at the same station. Boortz and Limbaugh are coarse PLENTY.

But I am not trying to defend my momentary use of bad language by saying they do the same thing. It was not the right thing to do, simply because kids could hear it. No argument here on that.

The dingleberry I was on the line with deserved far worse.

Mr. Rhodes....

Unfortunately, you completely miss the point. Let me try again....

On your show, when dealing with a caller, one of you should assume the role of the adult. Typically, that would be the person in charge (aka you). When you totally lose control of your emotions and start the profane name calling/insulting there is no adult any more. Rush doesn't do that, nor does any other successful Talk Radio Host I'm aware of. Some get loud, some get personal, but NONE of them lose their temper and enter into a name calling contest with the "particularly vile cowards and liars" that call their show, or even the "dingleberries" who call).

You have admitted it was "not the right thing to do, simply because kids could hear it" so that's a step in the right direction, but it's silly for you to claim that you are "not trying to defend my momentary use of bad language by saying they do the same thing."

That is EXACTLY what you've been doing.

LOL...NO...

They were wrong when they did it too!

Now Harley...I have made some impressive money for charity on "sucker bets". Would you like to put up some dough and be the next loser? I have heard Boortz do EXACTLY the same thing I did (slightly different cuss words) and Limbaugh come close to the same. Would you like to BET that they DID NOT?

There You Go Again.....

...trying to justify your bad behavior by claiming others do the same thing. Just a few minutes ago you claimed you weren't doing that.

As for the bet....no thanks. I'm not interested in pursuing it any further than I have. I don't listen to them all the time and you can probably find an instance where they did lose it, but you do it all the time. And you seem to delight in doing it. So, if you're happy with it....knock yourself out.

So now I "do it all the time"...

That can't be true. Riverman would have typed his fingers off posting the complaint link to the FCC all those times.

Yes, You Do It All The Time...

....it's kind of a signature for you. I can't speak for Riverman, but I'll tell you it's the most common reason I get when someone says they don't listen to your show.

I Think The Air....

....went out of the balloon when the "Save The A" campaign fizzled so badly. Many folks have just rolled over and accepted that citizens and taxpayers have no say in what the ruling class decides to do. I'm hoping they'll re-gain their memories in the next election....and the one after that.

If you can discuss Augusta politics and antics...

...and not go a little crazy...then you are made of stone.

As far as the kids go...if George Carlin could host Shining Time Station...I think I am fine.
