Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

I HAD TO TRAVEL Gordon Highway the other day and I couldn’t believe how slow people were driving in the left lane. Hey, the left lane is for fast moving traffic, so get out of the way! Oh, and if you don’t, I will ride your bumper!

WHY DO TWO OF our four TV stations schedule local news for 6 p.m. when they know the basketball game won’t end before 6:30 and sometimes later?

AFTER READING THE article about the vast amount of money Augusta spends on legal counsel, I feel very compelled to say: 1) Take a lesson from Columbia County and hire a firm that has enough law diversity that they can handle any kind of litigation; 2) Stay within lawful boundaries when making decisions; 3) Hire the best people for jobs, regardless of skin color; 4) Do what is best for all of Augusta and our future.

IF THE SOUTH FOUGHT like they drive in Richmond County, it’s no wonder we lost the uncivil war. Where is everyone going so fast ... slow down and be safe.

RAVES. I PULLED up to pay for my coffee at Starbucks, was told it had been paid for and they said, have a good day. Thank you.

WHILE THE CREDIT agencies are ready to pounce and downgrade us again, Washington just sits there and does little or nothing to address the problem of debt and deficits. They need to wake up since we are heading down the path that Greece went! Mr. President you need to show leadership on this issue.

OBAMA PRETENDS TO care about children, but he and his party of Democrats agree with killing 3.5 million unborn children last year.

ROUNDTREE, TAKE THE motorcycle cop off Berckmans Road and put him on Bobby Jones where he can do some good.

Lane Switching

IRYW posted:

In general, lane changes should be kept at a minimum to reduce the risk of collision.

In a traffic safety class I attended many years ago I heard the officer say there are many more traffic collisions attributed to improper lane changes than to speeding. Still, one should avoid the left-hand lane on multi-lane highways except for passing or turning left. The thing that bugs me are the drivers who expect me (in the right-hand lane) to switch lanes merely to let them merge onto the interstate. I seldom do.

"I often wonder why they feel

"I often wonder why they feel that the "slower traffic" sign MUST be obeyed, yet the one that says "Speed Limit" doesn't apply."

Because it is inherantly less safe to pass on the right for one. (so I've read)
Two; people obstructing traffic flow in the "fast" lane irritate those being obstructed and often those will zoom around on the right and then wedge back in the left lane, endangering others. Yea, that is on them, but they are still endangering others through their frustration.

Speed limits... The law is the law, but if the left lane is flowing at 10 over, it isn't a fraction as dangerous as the scenario I referenced above.

Like Jake says about other traffic scenarios, I think it is a courtesy to allow someone to merge. When the light changes at the Lewiston Rd interchange; there is often a procession of 6 or more cars who merge onto I-20 east. If drivers coming from the west didn't move over, there would be a huge cluster blank. I'm already running 60 to get to merge speed with a car in front, a car in back, and me looking in the mirror to ensure I have merge space. If someone pins the lead car and he has to brake, it is a disaster in the making.

" I don't understand how or why, but my man Krauthammer....

.... but my man Krauthammer makes a compelling argument for a tradional, cheap (nothing that is a gov project is cheap, it is all relative) fence. I don't agree with him on the amnesty part, but in the interest of political negotiation, I would accept his plan."

A fence won't work for the United States. Places where fences are successful are places where those fences are covered with gunfire. We haven't the guts to do that. We're too politically correct.

Build a ten foot fence and those who want to breach it will buy a twelve foot ladder. They'll go over it, under it, or around it. Since an unsuccessful attempt to breach the fence has no negative consequences, it will just be a game.....kinda like the "catch and release" policies we now employ.

The United States can't secure its borders because they (we) lack the will to REALLY secure our border. We just enjoy talking about it.

If we really wanted to secure the border, we could do it by next Sunday.

Need to check your facts

Just an FYI.. In the state of Georgia you are not automatically the at fault party if you rear end another car. Because of dummies who slam on their brake for no reason other than looking for a payout. Before you endanger your life or someone else to prove a point check the facts before someone crams your tailpipe down your throat. You may be the one paying for that lesson..

"Comprehensive Immigration Reform"....

....is a democrat trap set to further damage the Republican Party.

The worst mistake the Republicans can make (as regards this issue) is to accept a Democrat PROMISE to secure the border if the Republicans agree to some sort of amnesty for all those illegals already here. As I noted above, the border will never be sealed. So the net effect will be that millions, and millions, and millions (and future millions) will continue to flow across the border and will have access to everything American citizens now enjoy. As Republicans complain about continued border crossings they'll be claimed to be "anti-Mexican racists" and all those pouring across the border will be future democrat voters.

It's all about voters, it has NOTHING to do with humanitarian concerns for the poor, pitiful immigrants.

...is, I'm sure, having a little tear in her eye today. Maybe even in mourning. Wearing a black dress, or at least a black arm band.

Hillary Clinton bids a sad goodbye to the State Department as the Country mourns her departure.

Maybe we'll hear from her again as she agrees to serve her Country once again in 2016.

Sniff....

Frequently, however, there is a lack of information about how to access such benefits. Benefits programs can be complicated and you may be given misleading information about how they operate,” followed by a list with links of government benefit websites such as Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, Supplemental Security Income, and a site offering information on eligibility for all federal benefits programs.”

-Isn't it great to be a USED American!-

Welcome to Mexicalifornia

A new report from the California Department of Finance indicates that the state’s Hispanic population will surpass the number of whites in the next two years. In 2014, California will join New Mexico and Hawaii as the third state with a non-white majority. This shift occurs amid the resurgence of the immigration debate.

In a speech at a majority-Hispanic high school in Las Vegas on Wednesday, President Barack Obama trumpeted the importance of overhauling the current immigration system. This speech comes in the wake of criticism from Latino activists for defaulting on his promise to make immigration reform a priority of his first term.

Hear's another Hammer & Sickle Man Tax You Didn't Know

The 2.3% Medical Excise Tax that began on January 1st is supposed to be “hidden” from the consumer, but it's been brought to the public’s attention by hunting and fishing store Cabela’s who have refused to hide it and are showing it as a separate line item tax on their receipts.

No embedding allowed by AC, But you can see it on Snopes....
Unbelievable!!

You can never say as individual that you have never been scammed. Bend over America.
