Comments from readers:

PAYING PEOPLE TO donate blood is asking for trouble with a safe blood supply. There are already too many people who try to donate despite obvious unsafe health conditions.

A RAVE FULL OF gratitude for the person who turned my husband’s wedding ring in to the Lost and Found at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. This symbol of 31 years of marriage was irreplaceable. Thank you for being caring and honest when you could have so easily seen it as a windfall to be sold at a gold-buying place. Thank you, thank you.

THE ONLY TIME liberals don’t use children as political props is when it’s a Pro-Choice Rally.

YES, THE CITY WOULD be a lot more visually and physically appealing if it would assign non-violent probationers to do clean up and yard work of sorts. And now’s the time of year to start since the Masters is coming.

THE RICHMOND COUNTY BOE discriminates against white people. The only people I see promoted are black.

NOTE TO PEOPLE who think that they are not being watched: There are cameras everywhere.

RAVES TO WALTER Williams’ column: Are guns the problem? Or is it the breakdown of civilized society? He summarized the slippery slope that started years ago. Pseudo-intellectuals continue to close their eyes to the real problems – themselves.

NO CHARGES FOR driving the wrong way for three miles on River Watch Parkway? Great start for our new sheriff.

IT’S GOOD TO SEE the viewer-support dollars we send to GPB being put to such good use as paying the six-figure salaries of the former politicians who now run the company.

JUST BECAUSE OBAMA is the darling of the media does not mean he should give them a pass when it comes to the mass shootings. There is no doubt that media violence, including video games, play a part in affecting how people think and act. There is more to the problem than just guns!

WHY IS AMERICA SO enamored with adopting children from foreign countries and giving billions in unappreciated aid to these countries? Wake up America and help your own before it’s too late.

A Rave for Sean for

A Rave for Sean for moderatin' the "Marriage must be for all" article. The discussion had lost civility and the ad hominems were a flyin'. No one was flagging offensive remarks (or flagging all of them) which caught his attention in either case. We should count our blessing we have a moderator rather than a dictator. He has a history of being fair to my mind. Just follow the rules and you can pretty much say anything (which isn't against the rules hee, hee). It is a great venue and I'm sure the social interaction is psychologically really healthy. Can't type today-sheesh.

Yeah I thought about emailing

Yeah I thought about emailing him to ask he could let things cool off and then open it up again to see if people could be civil. Kinda curious. I'm surprised that comments weren't removed-indicating they weren't likely flagged. He has always been very polite and fair pointing out my errors when I've been inappropriate. Oh not that I haven't pitched a hissy fit ever once in a while too, but I cool off and admit my error and apologize. I think he makes a great moderator-I have not had the same experience on other forums or blogs. A job I wouldn't personally have the patience.

Moderation

Yep, one of the big three on the Georgia seal. Wisdom, Justice, Moderation.
I was reading the comments and did not see why they were shut off but, then again, some comments must have been pulled before I had a chance to read them all. Not to worry, more decisiveness will soon follow.

Opps, I missed that one. Sean has tweaked me a time or two, but after reflection I see his point 95% of the time. The other 5%? It is his sandbox to administer.

Paying to donate?

First of all, that is a misnomer. It isn't a donation if you are paid for it.

As for your point, donors and blood are carefully screened and anyone with blood borne infectious disease will get screened out. There is always a risk from allergic reactions to donor's medications, etc., but that is true regardless of who the blood comes from. All in all, there is no 100% guarantee under the best of circumstances that donated blood will not cause a problem; but our blood supply in the U.S. is about as safe as it can be.

Southern manners

Yesterday while posting I realized something important....real southerners have manners....& they use them everyday...even on here....you can spot them everytime...:)

Above all, say "please" and "thank you". Always say please whenever making any sort of request. You may further express thanks by saying something like "Thank you very much, I really appreciate it." If you don't get what you want, say something like "well, thank you anyway." You should also use "May I," "You're Welcome," "Excuse Me," and "Pardon Me."

2

Also say "yes sir" or "no sir" and "yes ma'am" or "no ma'am" at all appropriate times. If you don't use these you may be viewed as arrogant or disrespectful, or uppity.

3

Several fundamental tenets of southern manners:
-Be humble - Always put others first and yourself last ("after you..."). This is rooted in Bible Belt theology. Acting uppity, selfish, or self-centered are certainly not good manners.
-Be courteous - This stems from the Golden Rule ("Do unto others as you would have them do unto you).
-Behave yourself - When in public, don't be rude, brash, loud, uncouth, coarse, or cause a commotion. If you do act that way people may think you weren't raised properly and don't know better.
-Be friendly - Act this way towards everyone whether you know them or not.
-Be modest - this is similar to being humble. In other words, don't brag on yourself.

4

Here are some other tips (but this is not an exhaustive list of course):
-Always ask for something, but never demand it.
-Refer to females as "Ladies".
-Chivalry of all forms is well appreciated throughout the South.
-Hold doors open for others.
-If you're a male, walk on the street side of a sidewalk when accompanying a lady.
-Men stand when a lady enters the room.
-Remove your hat, if you're a male, when entering a building. A hat should also be removed (by men) during the national anthem, the raising of the flag, funeral processions, and prayer.
-When at fault, own up to it...

A Comment From Yesterday......

Turned my computer on last night about 7:45, and read a very confused comment. It began lightning, so I turned off and unplugged computer. The very confused comment was about Adam and Eve, incest, and Lilith. First of all, Adam and Eve were not the only two people on earth when they were created, someone did not read about The 6th Day creations. Lilith was a pagan goddess of mythology, get it, a myth(fictitious story)? As far as incest, yes, there was some of that going on, just like today, there are those that still commit it. Cain did not take a sister with him, he found his wife in the land of Nod...of The 6th day creation! The false statement(comment) has been on my mind ever since I read it last night..............

The r/r said..

Are guns the problem? Or is it the breakdown of civilized society?

We have had guns forever...especially in the South....we didn't touch them either.....funny thing but I behaved & so did most kids of years past......so my answer is it has to be the breakdown of civilized society.

Replies to 3 Rants

1. THE ONLY TIME liberals don’t use children as political props is when it’s a Pro-Choice Rally. Reply: Oh ! so true. Rolling out the little children have been historically used by many Socialist Political Groups. It is like saying, you're mean and want to hurt children if you don't agree with the latest political concept, we want to pass this time. National Socialist Leaders that used children to push political agendas in the last 150 years are numerous. Just Google National Socialist Leaders.

#2 NOTE TO PEOPLE who think that they are not being watched: There are cameras everywhere. Reply. The new Digital cameras that the DMV used to take your latest driver license photo, allow for computer facial ID using street, office and business camera. What is needed is A Privacy from Government & Business Law.

#3. NO CHARGES FOR driving the wrong way for three miles on River Watch Parkway? Great start for our new sheriff Reply Sheriff Roundtree has little to nothing to do with the with decision to prosecute once a person has been arrested. It is the Solicitors office and DA's Office. BTW: I Campaigned heavily Against Roundtree, but have promised to judge him fairly for his actions in office.

I beg to differ, seenit.

My father told me that in times past, the gentleman in NYC walked on the inside of the sidewalk, with the lady nearest the traffic. Now I know you were referring to the south, but then then south is now made up of people from all over.

Who flags comments?

In about two years I've been posting on here, I think I've flagged only one (and that one wasn't removed). On the other hand, I must get more flags than an Indy 500 driver.

Adoption in other

Adoption in other countries....I knew a family that adopted 17 children & had 2 bio children. At the time I met them , I had that question and why so many. It was more the older children raising the younger and very limited space and time with the parents. I was told that were able to have so many because the guidelines in other counties were not as "harsh" as the US and they were not limited to the number of children. They could receive aid from the US once the adoption is completed from the US s well as great tax incentives. Good intentions gone bad IMO

"Are guns the problem?....

....Or is it the breakdown of civilized society?

If those are the only two choices, I'll have to go with the latter.

But, there is at least one other possibility. Personally, I think the real problem with guns right now is that they are an impediment to the successful completion of the agenda being prosecuted by the political far left. I think their plans for transitioning this Country from its current political and economic structures into what they seek to achieve being made quite difficult if the general population is armed to the teeth. The far-left politicians, with the willing support of the far left media, have therefore decided to hype and demonize guns and all the stoopid, wild, and crazy rednecks who own them. It's an agenda thing.

Which is NOT to say guns in the hands of gang bangers and other nutcase criminals is not a bigger problem for society than it used to be.....but I think it's to the political advantage of the far left to make it seem like guns in the hands of the average citizen are a problem which they clearly are not.

Good Morning "Our Fault" America.

We have caved in to the few of those that want America as it is and the True Americans have let it happen. The sad part is there is no turning back to a trully Free, common sense level of living in regards to our children's education, religious belief's, economic power, a government that is for the people, dedicated leaders at all levels and a feeling of allowing each of us to "Let Live" the way we want to live.

The Snake that we didn't see has bitten us bad and the destruction of this once great country is here.
