Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

THE ONLY THING columnist Michelle Malkin showcases in her articles are the many reasons so many people like and support President Obama. Her articles are meant to demean the president’s efforts, but she actually does the opposite.

I WOULD LIKE to commend the North Augusta planners for the job done on West Avenue. Those freshly painted white curbs reveal the degree of planning. Every new curb has been totally dogged by motorists ruining tires on them. All are “tire rub black” now, just weeks after completion.

WHEN SECONDS count, and help is only minutes away, teachers need to be armed.

MARION WILLIAMS is back on the Augusta Commission and causing trouble as usual.

AT THE PRESIDENT’S news conference, while obsessing about the banning of guns, he missed a golden opportunity to address the underlying causes of those horrible massacres which occurred over recent years. He barely mentioned mental illness.

UNEMPLOYMENT IS the same today as it was when Obama was sworn in four years ago. I guess there is no “hope that it will change.”

YES, CONTINUE TO blame the president for all of your issues. Don’t blame the 535 congressmen that you put there to represent your interests. We all know that one person is more powerful than 535. It’s like blaming the CEO of a bank instead of placing the blame where it truly belongs; the owners.

RAVE FOR BARBIE at O’Charley’s in west Augusta. Best server in Augusta, and we eat out a lot. Next time there, ask for her. You’ll see.

TO THE MISGUIDED ranter about the Paine College gym being expensive: Any building nowadays is expensive and not just because of the economy. But its classrooms and the space for multiuse for even non-athletic events, such as the upcoming Paine College Gala in February, that’s a wise investment.

AS AN ALUMNUS of ASU, I can tell you that I will think more than twice about putting any money into Georgia Regents University. I can’t tell what Azziz will use the money for.

NO CRIMINAL INTENT found in wrong-way crash? Are you kidding me? This woman had every opportunity to pull over, turn around and avoid what happened.

Obama could have his monopoly

Obama could have a monopoly on the media if columnists like Malkin and radio commentators such as Rush would get out of the way.
And, of course, that mean ole Fox News....

The way Obama whines about Fox News and Rush, it appears conservatives in the media bother him greatly. Michelle Malkin is among the best conservatives as she comments on Obama's "Culture of Corruption."

Yeh, if I was a hero

Yeh, if I was a hero worshipper of one of the most corrupt, anti-American, anti-Constitution, divisive, big spending, socialist presidents in history I wouldn't like the daily dose of Michelle Malkin pointing out the hypocrisy of Obama and the Democrats either.

But I'm not one of those so I think Malkin is extremely perceptive and extremely accurate.

Jokes, Funny, laughs and Quotes

Little Tim was in the garden filling in a hole when his neighbor peered over the fence. Interested in what the cheeky-faced youngster was up to, he politely asked, "What'cha doing, Tim?"
"My goldfish died," replied the boy tearfully, without looking up. "I've just buried him." The neighbor was concerned. "That's an awfully big hole for a goldfish, isn't it?" Tim patted down the last heap of earth, then replied, "That's because he's inside your dumb cat."

Don't Expect Obama to Represent You

“YES, CONTINUE TO blame the president for all of your issues. Don’t blame the 535 congressmen that you put there to represent your interests.”

You have a point because Obama was sure not put in office to represent our interests. He’s there to represent the unions and the entitlement society.

leadership exactly

When an officer in the military or any other organization fails to accomplish his/her mission, they are at fault. They are responsible for all that happens or fails to happen under their command. As commander in chief, he is responsible for all that happens or fails to happen under his control. People are relieved of their command if they can't get the job done. The president and his cabinet just seem to sweep it under the carpet to hide it.

Mental Illness

Obama isn't going to discuss his own problems during his speeches, so I would not wait on any in-depth discussion of mental illness.

Malkin does an excellent job of simply pointing a spotlight at what is taking place around us, which should be the role of all media as opposed to being lapdogs for the president. If you refuse to see what she puts in front of your eyes, then you are a lost cause and we will not take you seriously. Obama despises conservative news sources because they have so far refused to fall in line and do as they are told through daily campaigning for him.

Rant against outside domestic cats.

Michelle Malkin

Puts forth a reasoned, calm, logical argument; and that is why the left are afraid of people like her. It is easy to dismiss the likes of the vitriolic and venomous Ann Coulter, But Michelle Malkin and Laura Ingraham? Not so much.

The 535...

Yup, they are as responsible, and moreso really, for getting us into the mess we are in. It is their ravenous appetite for spending and social engineering at the root of it.

However, at this moment they are the only thing standing between us and a full blown dictator who will trample the constitution to get what he wants. Thank God for three branches of government.

"You have a point because Obama....

....was sure not put in office to represent our interests. He’s there to represent the unions and the entitlement society."

The term "put in office" is an appropriate one. I believe Obama was discovered, schooled, and groomed for the job. It's why we know so little about his background. Who were his friends? What did he do in school? Where are his term papers? Who paid for his college degrees? We don't know.

We do know some of the people he has associated himself with after college. Bill Ayers. Jeremiah Wright. Anthony Rezko. Some really sterling, patriotic Americans for sure. We did get an interesting insight into his early years in the documentary "2016," but not his adult life. That's all still a mystery.

What are his goals? What did he mean when he said he wanted to "fundamentally change" America? Is he the architect of the new America he seeks, or is it those who have trained him and groomed him for the job?

Is the support of labor unions and the vast explosion of the entitlement society accidental? Are his ongoing efforts to subvert the U.S. Constitution just coincidental? Is his mishandling of our Economy and his consistent foreign policy blunders that weaken us around the world just well intentioned mistakes? Or are we eye witnesses to the intentional destruction of the greatest nation the world has ever seen?

Really! Arm teachers?

WHEN SECONDS count, and help is only minutes away, teachers need to be armed.

I'm sorry but some teachers aren't even armed and equipped to teach our children or care for them while under their supervision. Do you really want these same individuals armed with a weapon? Do you really want teachers who are capable of molesting children under their care, who slap children who are under their care, who push their children up against the wall, who lock them in dark rooms for punishment, etc.....Do you really want the ones unarmed with intellegence to be armed with a weapon? Really!

This is not in reference to all educators, I am one, but there are some out there who fit this catagory.

So sorry I missed this convo

Former CEO of Playboy magazine Christie Hefner appeared on MSNBC this morning to discuss gun control.

When discussing gun violence in Chicago, Hefner went into a diatribe, explaining how climate change has increased temperatures, therefore leading to heightened levels of violence.

Hefner works closely with the Center for American Progress.

"Do you really want these same individuals armed with a weapon?"

I want safe schools. I don't believe there is any "one size fits all" recipe for insuring all schools across the Nation are secure. Therefore, I believe it is ludicrous to wait for the federal government to issue a proclamation from on high about how schools in Hephzibah Georgia, Buda Texas, or Glen Carbon Illinois should be made safe. Local school boards and individual school principals should make those decisions and they should be held personally responsible for failures.

Armed guards (principals, teachers, cops, retired military, whatever) are the ONLY rational solution to the current problem. We guard our money, our sporting events, any number of public events with armed guards and we should do at least as much for helpless children in schools.

"It's why we know so little

"It's why we know so little about his background. Who were his friends? What did he do in school? Where are his term papers? Who paid for his college degrees? "

Who cares who his friends were in college? I remember all of about 5 people that I knew in college, and I went to 5 schools over an 18 year period. I've been out of school nearly 20 years now. The rest, I couldn't tell you. I have no idea. They weren't friends, they were just classmates, all I cared about was doing my classwork and earning good grades. I also worked and supported myself. I wasn't there to socialize, and he wasn't either. He was a scholarship student, he had to keep his grades up, he didn't have time to make nice, like you seem to think he should. It is obvious that your ideas of college life come from the movies and TV. It is hard, grueling work, and if you are a serious student, you spend the majority of your time studying and working.

What did he do in school- we already know that, he was Law Review at Harvard.

Where are his term papers? The same place mine are- in a landfill somewhere, who saves those things? Same with my textbooks. Why would he save old term papers? That's what hoarders do. Why would you think that he would save old term papers?

Who paid for his college degrees? Occidental, Columbia and Harvard, who else, he had scholarships. You know who paid for my degrees? The taxpayers of California, the taxpayers of the United States, the taxpayers of Georgia, the Augusta branch of the Georgia Society of CPA's, and myself. So now that you know that about me, what would that tell you, other than I'm not rich? Absolutely nothing.

I can't even tell you most of the classes I took in college, who my instructors were, or who my friends were.

Honestly, there are people in this world that would dream up a conspiracy involving a wet dishrag. Obsessions are just plain sad. He doesn't supply these things because they are meaningless and you can't supply what you don't have, or don't remember. If he wanted to supply them he would've done so by now. He isn't going to. You are just going to have to accept that. Move forward, Harley. Please.

Private schools have

Private schools have endowments and foundations and scholarship funds. This is not a closely-guarded secret.

I was recruited by Ivy League schools, too, and I was offered scholarship money, too. Unless you apply for specific scholarships, they don't even tell you where it comes from. Why would they?

Here's how it works with private schools. You apply for admission. You file your FAFSA. Then the financial aid office says, "OK,we'll give you $XXXX per year." And then it's either enough, or it isn't, and then if it isn't enough, you get to decide if you want to fund it by other means, or go somewhere else. The financial aid office doesn't tell you where it comes from. Why would they?
