USCA financial aid

The University of South Carolina Aiken will present a financial aid workshop at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24 on the campus.

The free event is open to anyone interested in attending, regardless of which college or university a student plans to attend.

Information will be available regarding loans, grants, scholarships, student employment and the 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Mammography

BelkGives on the Go Mobile Mammography will be stopped at Belk in North Augusta Tuesday and Wednesday. Free mammogram screenings will be offered to women over 40 who have no breast concerns and have not had a mammogram within the last 12 months.

The mammography unit will also stop at Belk in Aiken Feb. 1-2.

Sisters Only

The Sisters Only Club is accepting nominations for the seventh annual Shero Awards, which will be held March 23 at the Kroc Center.

The awards honor outstanding women 18 and older who are doing extraordinary things in the community. Nominations are being accepted in the Health and Social Services, Arts, Law and Government/Armed Forces, Community Service, Business, Faith and Spirituality and Education categories.

Deadline for nominations is 6 p.m. Feb. 16.

Also, the club will award two $1,000 scholarships to female black high school seniors. the deadline for application is March 1.

Library friends

Friends of the Augusta Library will hold its annual meeting and membership drive at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Augusta-Richmond County Public Library, 823 Telfair St.

Historian Brad Cunningham will present the transition of the private residence of Judge Benjamin Holmes, built in 1830, to the present-day Appleby Branch Library.

The event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Bridal show

Brides will find everything they need at the Georgia Bridal show Feb. 3.

The event will be held from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at Bell Auditorium.

Wedding-services vendors, from photographers to caterers to florists, will be available for samples and to answer questions.

A fashion show will present ideas for every member of the wedding party, and DJs will offer samples of music for the reception.

Registered brides will receive a free one-year subscription to Brides Magazine and will eligible to win a deluxe honeymoon trip.

Tickets are $15 at the door – cash only – or $10 online in advance. Children 5 and younger are free.

Circus pre-show

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will present Fully Charged Feb. 7-10 at the James Brown Arena.

An All-Acess Pre-Show party begins an hour before showtime and is free to all ticket holders.

The pre-party includes back stage access and an up-close look at the animals.

Ticket prices range from $21 to $37. Ages 2 and older must have a ticket.
