More than 200,000 pounds of frozen meat products have been donated to Golden Harvest Food Bank.

The value of the donation from FPL Food was estimated at $653,000, according to a news release. The contribution was given during the holiday season and will help feed the hungry throughout the year.

Chris Turner, Golden Harvest’s chief development officer, said meat products are in high demand from the agencies served by the food bank.

“There’s really never enough,” Turner said. “We always have agencies that need it.”

FPL Food is one of the largest privately held processors of meat products in the U.S. The headquarters are on New Savannah Road.

A portion of the donation is being held at a storage facility because Golden Harvest does not have warehouse space for it.

Golden Harvest estimates the donation will provide more than 165,000 meals.
