Named to board

Sean T. Lynch was named to the Board of Directors as an Alternate Director District 10 of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians at the 64th annual Scientific Assembly Nov. 9.

Lynch practices family medicine at the Southern Family Medical Center, where he serves as president and medical director for Hospice Care of America and CareSouth Home Health.

Emily Elizabeth Jensen was named to the president’s List at the University of North Georgia for the Fall 2012 semester.

Marine Corps Pvt. Quincy J. Cannon has graduated from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. He is the son of Gail Mack and a 2010 graduate of Westside High School.

Donated clothes

The Augusta State University Rotaract Club collected more than 680 pairs of underwear and socks during a clothing drive Jan. 3-11 to benefit the Clothing Closet for Child Enrichment.

Money for literacy

The Greater Columbia County Republican Women presented a check for $100 to the Greater Augusta Partnership for Literacy to sponsor children for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
