Rants & Raves

COLUMBIA COUNTY ENFORCEMENT: Why can’t something be done in Martinez about small businesses parking their company trailers on property for the sole purpose of free storage and advertising? Most of these companies are from out of Georgia. They are turning our community into a dumping ground. If they need to do this, do it legally.

SOME PEOPLE SHOULD take life as seriously as they take their Air Jordans.

AUGUSTA BREEDS NONPROFITS while North Augusta builds its riverfront.

HAS A “NUT CASE” ever shot up a police station?

DO NOT BE DECEIVED. This current oppressive regime in the White House is not offering any spending cuts. They are not offering not to spend as much as they had originally planned. They aren’t offering to actually reduce what they are spending now.

HENRY FORD ONCE said, “Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him better take a closer look at the American Indian.”

HUGE RAVE TO Ms. Braswell, PTO Council President! She is exactly right about salaries of RCBOE Central Office positions. There are millions of dollars spent on these people that NEVER see a student and do little to impact student learning. This is where the cuts and furloughs need to be, NOT to the classroom teacher. Two furlough days for central office personnel for every one given to a classroom teacher would be a good starting point.

TO ALL THE charitable do-good organizations that provide free meals to the man that has nine children and the woman that has seven children, you need to provide them with birth control options instead of freeloading.

WANTED TO RAVE for a couple that showed true Christmas spirit at the “Lights of the South.” I had my three grandchildren and my daughter from Fort Hood here during the holidays and decided to take them all to see the lights. I was not aware that they only take cash. I was waiting in line to purchase tickets to see the Christmas tree maze and realized that they only take cash. The couple behind me insisted on paying our way! This act of kindness really touched my heart and renewed my faith in humanity again! What a true act of kindness! Thanks again!

A DEA officer stopped at a ranch in Texas , and talked with an old rancher.
He told the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs."
The rancher said, "Okay , but don't go in that field over there.....", as he pointed out the location

The DEA officer verbally exploded saying, " Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me !"

Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the rancher.

"See this badge?! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish.... On any land !!
No questions asked or answers given!! Have I made myself clear......do you understand ?!!"

The rancher nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores.

A short time later, the old rancher heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the DEA officer running for his life, being chased by the rancher's big Santa Gertrudis bull......

With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it seemed likely that he'd sure enough get gored before he reached safety The officer was clearly terrified.
The rancher threw down his tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top of his lungs.....

(I just love this part....)

"Your badge, show him your BADGE........ ! !"

goodnight all♥

How about Miss California's pre-questioning, when asked her opinion on euthanasia?

Please, please, please...

Please, please, please tell me why what was once a peaceful, quiet neighborhood/subdivision has to be subjected to speeding traffic 24/7, booming vehicles, and tonight, Sunday night, after dark, BAND practice, somewhere behind 2 of the local schools and a Walmart (which were not here when I moved here). If I lived closer I could at least hear the music, but all I'm hearing is the monotonous drums. Whether there is any musicality involved or not, who has the gall to authorize further disruption of a community's peace on a Sunday evening (above the usual inconsiderate racket from people with compromised eardrums rocketing through here)?

Just back from the mall

... and I was reminded of a Yahoo article that listed JC Penney as one of the ten most hated businesses. They must not have visted the Augusta Sears. There should be a sign posted in the employee break room; "YOUR ACTION IN TAKING A CUSTOMER'S PAYMENT DOES NOT REFLECT THE MAGNANIMOUS GESTURE OF A NOBLE TO A PEASANT."

After standing in line while the clerk spent at least five minutes not solving another customer's problem, a second cashier came in and opened a line on the other side to check out a customer who just walked up. I said screw it, and tossed the tools on the counter; get it at Lowes or HD.

one line feed...

The smartest thing the Fort Gordon Commissary does is have ONE line that feeds into all the registers: you hear "next please" and you go to the next available register. Everywhere else you get stuck in a slow line regularly and people that have come in the store while you were waiting, shopped and just arrive at checkout get waved over to a newly opened register while you're STILL waiting! This has angered countless customers over the years and undoubtedly caused the loss of a lot of routine and impulse purchases and unsatisfied customers. I would shop more often if I could count on getting through a checkout line promptly.
