NOW IT’S POSSIBLE TO “download a gun design to your computer … build it with a printer, and fire it minutes later.” This sounds absurd, but if it’s not, what’s to stop somebody from downloading the design and building an atomic bomb the same way?

TO THE PERSON wondering about single mothers: There are so many because it’s so much easier to flee your girlfriend than it is to support a child.

BOY, PEOPLE WHO WANT to raise an uproar in this day and age against a Union man who had confiscated Confederate territory to make it a national cemetery for war vets. The Civil War is long over. Slavery was abolished. No one got to pull land out of the U.S. possession. Get over it.

SOCIAL SECURITY AND Medicare are not entitlements when we are forced to pay into it for our future. But welfare and extended weeks and months of unemployment should not be considered entitlements and should not be given any more. Strike those costs off, tax all the wealthy who make half a million dollars on up and get us off the fiscal cliff.

I AM APPALLED with the bus situation I witnessed when I visited your town. There is only the barest coverage of some areas, and most buses ended by 7 p.m. The bus riders seemed to have no sense of courtesy with the way they stride two to three seats across with legs and grocery bags and coats so people forced to stand up in the aisles. Thank goodness I’m back to a civilized service here in Atlanta. Our buses run 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. We run more than one bus every 80 minutes, and trains. Most riders mainly sit in one seat. Gentlemen offer seats to women, young and older ones. One improvement made since my last visit early this year was that the drivers were all courteous and proper this visit.

A RANTER SUGGESTS we outlaw cars if we’re going to outlaw guns. Maybe the shortest way to a common sense solution is to outlaw politicians.

WHY IS IT GOOD TO use a gun to protect our president, but bad to use a gun to protect our children?

RAVES TO KROGER FOR doing its part to help the poor. They donate so many shopping carts to the ghetto.

I tried that method using a design of a Victoria's Secret model and ended up with paper, glue and tape all over the place, especially in places that I would rather not explain.

#5. The bus system must be expanded in the year 2013. The hours need to become 24/7, but I'll settle for between 1am-3am. The new routes should provide access to Tobacco rd in South Augusta(Windsor spring, Peach Orchard, Mike Padgett, and Doug Barnard all intersect) Augusta Regional, and include Fort Gordon. Then possibly expand to the city of North Augusta or sections of Columbia County. I would demolish the bus terminal on Broad, and sell the land to GRU or the private sector. The property would fit into the overall plans to rejuvenate Harrisburg, and compliment the planned 25 acre development. Then finally construct the police precinct/bus terminal in the CBD, and go through with the plans of having the main depot in South Augusta. The bus depot in the CBD could serve the Greenway(LSV, pedestrians, golf carts, cyclist, etc) with charging stations, and future rail in the urban core(CBD, Medical District, Paine College). The new bus terminal might also bring GRU into the equation. The terminal could store their buses due to the easy access of the GGHF site/Medical District/Summerville.

It's not fair to expect the public transportation system of metro Atlanta(over 5 million) to equal metro Augusta(near 600k MSA/700k in the CSRA). Compare our system against the cities of Knoxville, Greensboro, Greenville, Winston Salem, Lexington, Columbia, Savannah, Jackson, Chattanooga, Durham, Baton Rouge, etc.

R & R #5

You've got to remember there aren't as many people in Augusta compared to Atlanta. As far as the rudeness, sometime that just goes along with the mentality of the people......understand? Plus, there are sooooo many more people with real jobs in the Atlanta area. Sorry you had such a crummy experience!

Yep...we gotem in the South...

Ugly as homemade sin.

Dumber than a stump.

Older than dirt.

Too poor to pay attention.

Poor as Job’s turkey.

So tight he squeaks.

If brains were leather, he couldn’t saddle a flea.

So clumsy she couldn’t stand up in a cleared 10 acre field.

So lazy he wouldn’t work in a pie factory as a taster.

Even a blind hog sometimes finds an acorn.

If his brains were TNT they wouldn't be enough of it to tip over a bottle cap.

Uglier than a lard bucket full of armpits.

That kid ain't knee-high to a duck.

"I AM APPALLED with the bus

"I AM APPALLED with the bus situation"

I believe we have a "taxpayers should subsidize the bus riders" troll on the R&Rs today. You can run all of the buses you want to as long as the bus fares pay for the operation.

Fees on normal working people are being raised everywhere with the excuse that services MUST be self-sustaining. We are charged more to enter government operated parks, get licenses, gun permits, get accident reports, and almost every "service" our collective money hungry governments provide, all based on the excuse that services must pay for themselves....be self-sustaing. The same goes for bus service. Run all of them you want to wherever you want as long as the fares pay the bill.

My guess is that you will now see the reason certain factions of our local constituents were encouraged by their politicians to vote for the TSPLOST measure which dragged us and our surrounding counties into an increased sales tax. All "discretionary" monies will probably be used to subsidize bus routes and maybe some silly downtown shuttle and will end up having NOTHING to do with fixing our local roads. And as ususal, it will end up costing MORE than they estimate and we will end up subsidizing it MORE with property tax money.

Now you know the REST OF THE STORY of why Richmond County was one of the few idiot counties in this state that approved TSPLOST. They advertised this thing as being about roads but locally the intent was all about subsidizing the bus riders.

EVERYTHING IS CHEAPER IN NORTH AUGUSTA. SHOP THERE AND DON'T FEED OUR LOCALLY GROWN TAX MONSTERS.

"Obama won't support building

"Obama won't support building 'Death Star'".

Of course not. His plan is to weaken our defense4 system not make it stronger.

The ranter that thinks our bus system is not as great as those of the big cities should make a trip to an even smaller town and try to find any means of public transportation.
As with all things...It a matter of demand...

Don't Knock Buses

I don’t know why y’all are knocking buses. Riding buses is a way to socialize and become part of the community. It is a mingling crowd that may sometimes ask you to contribute cash to those who don’t have any, but that’s okay. They will often leave half can of snuff for payment. Some beautiful people may also share a bite of their newspaper wrapped homemade sandwiches with you. The bus goes through scenic areas of Augusta where you may decide to visit later. It’s going to be so convenient to ride a bus home at 2 AM through beautiful downtown Augusta after I get off my shift cooking sunny side up eggs to match the eyes of customers at the Egg and Pancake house where I work.

Single Mothers....

....are largely the result of our own social engineering. More single mothers, more kids, more broken homes, more people subsisting on government handouts, more democrat voters.

It's really that simple.

It's the plan....

About "Gun Control"....

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control: From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
In 1911, Turkey established gun control: From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Germany established gun control in 1938: From 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
China established gun control in 1935: From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Guatemala established gun control in 1964: From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan
Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
---- ------------- -------------
Uganda established gun control in 1970: From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Cambodia established gun control in 1956: From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
-----------------------------
56 million defenseless people were rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control.

What makes anybody think it wouldn't happen here?

Bus System

I, too, think Augusta could use a better bus system, but it would have to be thought out and re-built from the ground up. The main reason the bus system is in such sad shape right now can be laid square at the desk of one Fred (What, me worry?) Russell. His apathy toward operation of the bus system is but yet another example of his overall apathy toward work in general. You cannot create a good bus system without vision; but poor oversight will kill even good ideas, plans, and employees’ spirits.

Step number one toward building a better bus system in Augusta would be to fire Fred Russell (for cause: dereliction of duty – no severance pay).

I have a hard time understanding what countyman means by his post above:

The hours need to become 24/7, but I'll settle for between 1am-3am.

I have a feeling he'll be settling for much less than that.

"I don't know anything about guns....

....don't care about guns and have nothing to say about them except that they're loud!"

I suspect you might want to reconsider that position when some thug kicks your door in at 3:30 AM and lets you watch while he tortures your kids and rapes your wife.
